Shanxi Travel Series (41) - Datong, Sanggan Ancient Road, Wulong Gorge

The first time I heard of the Sanggan River was because of Ding Ling's novel "The Sun Shines on the Sanggan River", in which the author records and reproduces the implementation of the land reform movement in rural areas of North China from a unique perspective. The novel is fascinating and I read it again and again. My interest in "Sanggan" is not only because of the novel, but also because of its name, which I simply think is very nice, very special, and has a sense of softness and strength. Later, by chance, I followed a friend to the Wulong Gorge on the Sanggan Ancient Road, and only then did I really get to know it. The Sanggan Ancient Road, where Wulong Gorge is located, is a 10-kilometer-long and 1-kilometer-wide canyon formed by volcanic lava that has been washed by river water for billions of years. The waterfalls, springs, and strange rocks formed here are breathtaking and praiseworthy. The Wulong Gorge Sanggan River Scenic Area has now become one of the three major scenic areas of the Datong Volcano Group Provincial Geopark. This is a great place for outdoor camping, student study tours, and family trips, and is an excellent place to escape the heat, relax, and explore nature. 📌TIPS: 📍Location: Search for Sanggan Ancient Road Wulong Gorge in the navigation. 💰Tickets: CNY 50/person, CNY 120/person for a pass (scenic area ticket, sand sliding, grass sliding, kayaking, boat, bamboo raft) ⏰️Opening hours: 8:00-18:30 💟Duration: 4-6 hours 🚎Transportation: The place is relatively remote, so it is more convenient to drive there. 💟You can bring your own outdoor tables and chairs and snacks to relax outdoors. The air is good and the view is excellent, making it a great place to relieve stress.
