The Dongpo Temple on the edge of the Dongjiang River has been built in recent years to imitate the old and preserve the historical relics. Early in the morning, we arranged an afternoon tour to Huizhou West Lake. When we arrived at noon, we went to the nearby Lai Kee Tai Pai Dang to try our famous Hakka cuisine😋. At lunch time, the restaurant is crowded👥, many people come here under their names. We tried the spring onion egg corner, garlic bone, garlic fried cabbage heart and Hakka stuffed tofu. We drove from Shenzhen to Shuangyuebay in about two hours and stayed for one night. The weather was not on our side with a lot of wind and rain in the air. The area is called double moon bay if translated into English because of the shape of the area with sea on both sides that you can see from above. Beautiful sandy beaches. We started by going up to the peak to see the overview of the bay and it was super cool. It is a bit of a walk from the parking area so we paid 40 for a guy to take us up and down on his moped. The view from the top was Fantastic and an absolute must see if you are in the area. After the peak we went to the turtle bay nature reserve. They have a beautiful sea walk and lots of big turtles. After turtle bay we went to the beach and visited one of the surfer places. Not much activity but there was someone learning how to kite. The beach was absolutely awesome and I can imagine the place is super nice in the summer month. I definitely want to come back. We set off from Shenzhen for a 4 day, 450km roadtrip on our ebikes. We can get nearly 100km range since our bikes have big batteries. On the first day we drove out of Shenzhen and down along the coast to Daya bay. We only had a minor mishap when we drove through a petrochemical zone that we shouldnt have. Oops. The driving took almost three hours until we arrived at the hotel where we found a place to charge our bikes. Day 2 should be more rural and less main roads. #yearofrabbit

Located next to the famous West Lake Scenic Area in Huizhou, the Sizhou Tower is an historical structure that stands out amongst the surrounding hills. To get here, you can take a private car, taxi or bus and get off at the north or west entrance to the lake. At the lake, walk through the entrance and proceed towards the southeastern corner of the park to find the Sizhou Tower. The tower itself is on top of a hill, therefore expect to walk up stairs to reach the base. There are several staircases you can climb to reach up to the tower, all are pleasant and shaded under the trees. The tower is great to see close-up, as you will see the many materials used in its construction and the impressive height it reaches. Walking around it, you can take photos or videos. It is a welcome place to visit when you are also visiting the lake area, and I would highly recommend it. Sanmen island, with an area of about 5 square kilometers and a coastline of 13 kilometers, is the largest island in Daya Bay of Huizhou. The sea water here is clear, with visibility of 5-8 meters, which is very suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Getting there - We went with a group of people. Took a bus and then a speed boat to the island. Attractions - Hiking trails, beach ,camping ,abandoned hotels and apartments. Hotels - Only abandoned hotels on the island. We camped out in our tents and made friends with the locals to use their facilities. Food & Restaurants - Local restaurants available on the island for limited food or you can bring your own meat and bbq. Ask locals to store things for you. Shopping - You need to come prepared. Bring everything you need. Not many shops , only for cold drinks , snacks and food.

Getting There - On your way to Huizhou, you can stop over near BAIMA river and hike your way to the different pools. The further you hike the better the pools. We went passed 3 pools to get to this waterfall and boy was it worth it! Attractions - Hiking, natural pools and waterfalls to give you great back massages. Hotels - There aren’t any hotels near here but you can stay in Huizhou which is close enough. Food & Restaurants - there’s one Hakka restaurant on the way to the pools and they serve some decent food. Shopping - There’s a shop where you can stop to get some beers or sodas for your hike to the waterfall

The water is clean and cool, aside the absolutely nice place for camping, having party or surfing this place is growing fast as well with surrounding hotels and restaurants. This is a hike through some of the most beautiful and historical part of the Huizhou peninsula. The picturesque Huizhou peninsula feature natural elements and marine life. Join the locals in fishing, or listen to the anecdotes told by old fishermen. Double Moon bay gets its name from the double moon shaped bays. You can have a birds-eye view of the Huizhou peninsula on top of the mountain. This trail is mostly paved road. It is very safe and you are within a few hundred meters from the main road. To get to guiding, the nearest train station is huizhou which is very accessible from most major cities. once in huizhou, one can get a bus or didi to guiding.

📍 It’s a great place to spend your holidays. We usually take a taxi from Guangzhou to the beach directly it takes around 2.5 hours. But you can also take a train or plain depends on your location. The beach is quiet far from the city. 🏨 There are many good and cheap hotels or apartments around the beach. 🥗 You can find some western restaurants and many Chinese.
