Tianyi Pavilion, a long-standing cultural heritage.

As a self-proclaimed scholar, I felt ashamed that I had visited Ningbo several times but never visited Tianyi Pavilion. This time, I made up my mind to take some time to visit. From Hangzhou to Ningbo, take the subway Line 2 to Gulou and transfer to Line 1 to Ximenkou, and walk a short distance to Tianyi Pavilion Museum. Tianyi Pavilion Museum includes the residence and library of Fan Qin. It covers a large area and is a typical Jiangnan mansion. Since Fan Qin was the Right Vice Minister of the Ministry of War, his mansion was naturally large. In addition to the various pavilions for receiving guests, living, and reading, the courtyard is also carefully designed, with ponds, rocks, winding corridors, green trees, and bamboo, comparable to the royal gardens of Suzhou. The library, Tianyi Pavilion, is naturally the highlight of the museum. Although it looks old compared to other buildings that have been renovated or newly built, the pavilion is not known for its grandeur, but for its collection of books. Tianyi Pavilion is only two stories high, but it is a 400-year-old building that has been restored but still retains its original appearance. The small garden in front of the pavilion, the pond, rockery, and pavilion are all protected and not accessible. You can only smell the fragrance of books and yearn for it. Tianyi Pavilion Museum is also connected to the residences of the Qin, Chen, and Qian families, each with its own characteristics, gardens, opera stages, and houses that show the wealth of the rich families. Interestingly, the Chen family is the ancestor of the unified Chinese Mahjong, and there is an exhibition about the origin of Mahjong in the Chen residence, which is a fun fact. Tianyi Pavilion Museum is a must-visit place for scholars. After seeing the exhibition, I was filled with emotion, realizing that official positions and money cannot last long, only civilization and the books that carry civilization can last forever. Zhejiang is known for its scholars, and it is well-deserved.
