Xidi Ancient Village was built in the Northern Song Dynasty (1049–1054 AD) and has a history of nearly 1,000 years. The entire village is boat-shaped and surrounded by mountains. The village is mainly composed of a vertical street and two roads along the stream, forming a village street and alley system that extends mainly to the east and to the north and south. All streets and alleys are paved with Yixian bluestone. Most of the ancient buildings are wooden structures with brick walls, and the wood carvings, stone carvings, and brick carvings are rich and colorful. The design and layout of the alleys and buildings are coordinated, the village space changes flexibly, and the building colors are simple and elegant. However, the commercial atmosphere in Xidi is too strong now. Two-wheeled and three-wheeled electric vehicles can travel and park freely, and air-conditioning wires can be seen everywhere. It has gradually lost the historical origin of the ancient village, and the preservation of the relics is far inferior to Chengkan and Hongcun.
