In the morning light, I visited the Beiyue Hengshan, one of the five mountains, to see its Fanghua. According to legend, Pangu opened the world, chaos first opened, Qing is the sky, and turbid is the ground. He turned his body into a five-yellow, head to the east, and Beiyue Hengshan became the right arm of Pangu.
Because it is located in the north, it is the place where everything is undone, so it is called Hengshan. For the lord of Wanshan in the North, it is also known as Hengzong. Hengshan West is Yanmenguan, East is Taihang Sanshan, Nanshi Sanjin, and the north is overlooking Yunmeng; the peaks are rushing, the momentum is magnificent, the towering, and the cross. This is too early, it is still hazy in the mountains, covering the clouds, only a little bit of sunlight in the thin layer of the clouds, this is still the most attractive.
Yunxia hides gold and silver enamel, faintly circling the sun and moon. Sunny, the smoke is flying, and the fun is full of fun. When the clouds dispersed, the sky was more open, and Hengshan showed its original appearance. Under the lush greenery is a layer of dangerous rocks, the cliffs stand sideways, stone clips blue sky, as if a heart will fall into the abyss. The canyon is deep and you can only see the green cliffs under the cliff. It is no wonder that ancient poems have clouds: the rock is so heavy that it is unpredictable.
Adam Yue.
Traveling in Datong, climbing the Range Rover and exploring the ancient temple are also very good, so we drove to Hengshan in the morning.
Beiyue Hengshan is located in Wuyuan County of Datong. It has been a famous scenic spot and the birthplace of Taoist culture since ancient times. It was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national-level scenic spots with the perfect combination of human landscape and natural landscape. In 2009, Beiyue Hengshan was included in the National Natural and Cultural Heritage List.
Hengshan is the Beiyue in the "Five Sacred Mountains" and also a Taoist holy place. It is said that Zhang Guo, one of the Eight Immortals, is practicing in Hengshan. The Beiyue Hengshan Scenic Area includes Tianfengling, Cuipingfeng and Qianfoling. The current development is Cuipingfeng and Tianfengling. Generally speaking, Hangshan Hengshan refers to the Tianfengling scenic spot.
Hengshan main peak is divided into east and west peaks, east is Dafengling west to Cuiping peak, two peaks face each other, style is unique, the cliff green belt, the level is distinct. Hengshan cloud, change endless, but we did not encounter good time, see a lot of pictures of Hengshan cloud on the network, really super beautiful.

As one of the Five Sacred Mountains, Beiyue Hengshan is the universal sacred place of Taoism in the world. According to legend, Zhang Guo, one of the Eight Immortals, is practicing in Hengshan.
The highest altitude is more than 2,000 meters, but don't be too nervous. You can choose to take the bus to the Hanging Temple and climb up. You can also choose the cable car to the Hengshan Mountain. Individuals are still advised to drive by car, or choose a transportation vehicle in the scenic area, or go to the middle of the mountain, or look at the scenery along the way. These ancient buildings are the essence of it.

Beiyue Hengshan is one of the five famous mountains in China. It has a history of more than 5,000 years. Countless emperors and literati singers have climbed to the top. It is also a place where everyone should come at least once in their lives.
Hengshan sky high cloud, the platform is the cliff, the big white clouds are like the top of the head, at your fingertips, as the wind blowing from the valley continues to surge, people can not help but think of the poem "swinging chest" Stratus clouds."
Adam Yue.
Hengshan Scenic Area includes Tianfengling Scenic Spot, Cuipingfeng Scenic Spot and Qianfoling Scenic Spot. At present, the development of Cuiping Peak and the main peak Tianfengling is relatively perfect. Generally speaking, Tianshan Hengshan refers to the Tianfengling Scenic Spot.
Entering the ticket office of Tianfengling is a section of Panshan Road about 5 kilometers leading to the Hengshan parking lot. Looking up east in the parking lot, you can see the words "Heng Zong" on the cliff of Daziwan. This is the most distinctive stone in Hengshan and is regarded as the symbol of Hengshan.
Then go up the hiking trail to the Guolao Ridge. There is a straight bend of nearly 90 degrees. The mountain wind is very large and is called "Hufengkou". There are many ancient pines on Hengshan Mountain. The hanging pine of Hufengkou is the most special. Its roots are all exposed, and it is located at the mouth of the wind. The sound of the trees is intertwined, like a tiger roaring.

Personal is also recommended to drive by car, or choose the traffic car in the scenic area, you can also go to the mountainside, you can also look at the scenery along the way.
Hengshan should be considered the best climber than other couples. There are many wall carvings in Huixianfu. The most beautiful buildings are the Heaven and Earth and Wanli Wan. It is also the tallest building in Hengshan. There are also landscapes such as Yuhuangge, Yubei Pavilion, Qinqitai and Tongyuan Valley.

Hengshan Scenic Area is centered on Tianfengling and Cuiping Peak, which are both twin peaks and peaks, including Tianfengling Scenic Spot, Cuipingfeng Scenic Spot, Qianfoling Scenic Spot, Hot Spring Scenic Spot and Wuyuan City Scenic Spot; unique mountainous landscape and With a long history, Hengshan has become a unique and famous scenic spot with both natural and human landscapes. It is said that four thousand years ago, I came here and sealed Hengshan as Beiyue. Qinhuang, Hanwu, Tangzong and Songzu have all been there. Not only that, but Li Bai, Jia Dao, Yuan Haowen and Xu Xiake also came. Can be seen the status of Hengshan. Among the Wuyue Mountains, Hengshans profound war culture and the unique hiding culture in which the religion survived in the chaos of war and the ancient witch culture of the Beiyue Emperor were beyond the reach of the other four mountains. The beauty of Hengshan could not be hidden. Compared with the other four mountains, Hengshan looks simple and ancient, does not show the mountain dew, has a unique low-key

Beiyue Hengshan, 10 kilometers south of Dayuan County, Datong, presents the feeling of being in the mountains of the South!
Hengshan is in danger. It has been a battleground for military strategists since ancient times. There have been many important battles in the Hengshan Mountains. Many famous emperors and generals have played here. This is also the place where Hengshan is different from other four mountains. It is worth mentioning that Hengshan has been the place where the royal ceremonies have been held since ancient times, and its status is no less than that of Shandong's Taishan. The
Hengshan Gorge is deep and dense, with many Taoist temples and Buddhist temples. The most famous are the Hanging Temple and the Beiyue Temple. The 18th view of Hengshan is also a must-see.
Transportation: You can take the bus to the Wuyuan County Bus Station at the Datong Long-distance Station. The one-way time is about 1.5 hours. At the Wuyuan Bus Station, there is a car dedicated to Hengshan Scenic Area.

Three mountains and five mountains, I have all climbed. Every year, I go climbing with a group of friends. In 2015, it was the Beiyue Hengshan. It is still fresh in my memory.
The friends are all over the mountain and they are exhausted. But when we reached the top of the mountain, everyone cheered and felt that their hard work was worth it. Very nice piece of memory.

As a local who loves to travel, I actually came to this place last year. This is the village where I grew up. When I was very young, about 6 or 7 years old, a group of people came to our village from out of town, I don't know what they were measuring with their machines. Later, we were asked to evacuate the village, which left us homeless and searching for rental houses everywhere. As I gradually grew up, I realized that what belonged to us was a treasure, just as the rumors said, Shanxi has coal mines, all owned by coal bosses. But who would know that this was once a village, home to many people? Suddenly, one day, they became homeless. There are coal mines, and there are bosses, but they are not us. We are just an ordinary family running around.
I came here to see the place where I was born and raised. I accidentally discovered (this is actually a warning base for ecological damage, due to excessive mining in the past, the environment has been destroyed)
📍Address: Ermutianwan, Hun Yuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province

After parking, you need to walk for 10–15 minutes to reach the location in the picture.

💙Tips for visiting:
On a sunny day, you can capture the scenery of the golden sunset on the mountains. If you have a drone, be sure to bring it!! In addition, this place is very close to Hengshan Mountain and Hanging Temple. If you have enough time, you can arrange them in the same day's itinerary, but it's not recommended to go to Ermutianwan specifically.
The temperature in the mountains is now below zero, and it is already winter. Of course, it's even more beautiful to take photos in the snow. However, the roads are slippery, so travel is not recommended. Safety first. After the snow melts, those who go to take photos remember to wear more layers! It's really cold.
If you want to take good photos, you can, but be sure to bring cold medicine haha😂

Mount Heng in the snow is a fairyland.
An unexpected snowfall has draped Mount Heng in a white veil.
Stepping into Mount Heng is like entering a dreamlike world of ice and snow. Snowflakes fall gently, landing on ancient temples, winding mountain paths, and tall pines and cypresses. Each snowflake is a spirit of nature, dancing gracefully and telling the story of Mount Heng's tranquility and mystery.
In the distance, the snow-covered mountains appear and disappear like an ink painting. The mist intertwines with the snowflakes, creating a fairyland. As you walk along the mountain path, the snow crunches underfoot, like a beautiful symphony.
The temples of Mount Heng are even more solemn in the snow. Red walls and green tiles contrast with the white snow, and the eaves are adorned with icicles like exquisite works of art. Inside the temples, incense smoke curls and bells ring, bringing a moment of peace to the soul.
This snowfall has made Mount Heng even more beautiful. It is not only a gift from nature but also a dialogue with history and culture. In the embrace of Mount Heng, you can feel the purity and tranquility of the snow and appreciate the charm of ancient culture. It is an unforgettable journey.
💕 The snow of Mount Heng is beautiful in nature, history, and spirit. 💕

Is Hengshan worth visiting?
🌟Hengshan Introduction
Hengshan, also known as "Taiheng Mountain", is known as the "Northern Pillar of Heaven" and the "Famous Mountain of the Great Wall".
Hengshan is located 4 kilometers south of Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province. The Hengshan Mountains stretch for 500 kilometers from east to west, with unique natural scenery and profound historical and cultural heritage.
The natural scenery of Hengshan is magnificent and beautiful. Its main peak, Tianfengling, is about 2016.1 meters above sea level. There is a height monument on the top of the mountain where you can check in. There are no other facilities, which is slightly monotonous.
The history and culture of Hengshan has a long history. It is a famous Taoist holy land and tourist attraction. More than four thousand years ago, Emperor Shun sealed Hengshan as Beiyue. Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, Hengshan has always been a place where emperors, generals, literati and ink guests have visited, worshipped, and visited. There are many ancient architectural complexes on Hengshan, such as the Hanging Temple and Hengshan Temple. The Hanging Temple was built on a cliff, which is a miracle of architecture. It uses the principle of mechanics to insert half of the flying beam as the base, cleverly supports the rock, the beams and columns are integrated up and down, and the corridors are connected left and right, twists and turns, and the virtual and the real are born. There are various Buddha statues in the temple, solemn and solemn. Hengshan Temple is large in scale, with simple and elegant architectural style, and many precious cultural relics and historical sites are preserved in the temple.
In addition, Hengshan also has many beautiful legends and stories. These legends and stories add a mysterious color to Hengshan and attract many tourists to explore.
When you come to Hengshan, you can choose to climb on foot, feel the charm of nature and the fun of challenging yourself. You can also take a cable car to easily enjoy the beautiful scenery in the mountains.
🌟Personal feelings:
1️⃣In addition to the name of one of the five mountains, Hengshan has a general scenery, especially the top of the mountain⛰️, which is slightly monotonous;
2️⃣The facilities in the scenic area are not perfect, there are fewer signs🪧, and there are fewer toilets. Pay attention to planning the route, ask in time, and don't get lost;
3️⃣Hengshan is a famous Taoist mountain, and tourists who are interested in this history can visit it;
In summary, ordinary tourists can skip this scenic spot and go directly to the Hanging Temple, which is another separate scenic spot. If you have a five-mountain plot, you can visit the mountain, or you can check in at the foot of the mountain.

Climbing Mount Heng on Mid-Autumn Festival 🌕🏔️
#chinatrip
Mount Heng (恒岳) stands tall, piercing the skies with its majestic peaks, a serene reminder of nature's grandeur. Beneath the silent Milky Way 🌌, the ancient paths come alive with history and legend.
Our first stop was the Cloud Pavilion Rainbow Bridge, nestled in the narrow Golden Dragon Gorge (🐉). This ancient passageway was ingeniously carved into the cliffs, connecting the east and west peaks. Legend has it that the bridge was crafted by Lu Ban’s sister—how cool is that? 😮✨
The Hanging Temple (🏯), perched precariously on the cliffs, took my breath away! With its 1,500-year history and incredible architecture blending three religions, it’s a place where you can feel the wisdom of the ages. The temple’s unique construction allows it to survive the tests of time and even earthquakes!
At the highest point, Tianfeng Ridge 🌄), standing at over 2,000 meters, the view was absolutely breathtaking. We reached the peak just as the cold frost ❄️ and moonlight 🌕 shimmered across the landscape, creating an otherworldly beauty.
As I stood there, I couldn’t help but reflect on how short life is, like morning dew ☀️💧, as the poet Cao Cao once said. But if life is brief, why not aim for the stars and embrace the vast heavens? 🌠
Life may be fleeting, but days like this, surrounded by nature and ancient wonders, make every moment worth living! 💫

Have you ever seen the ancient city of Datong under the sunset with its lights just coming on?
People who love to travel have a soul that cannot be placed anywhere else. In Datong, you can find the grand story of Hua Mulan joining the army in place of her father, and see the heroic stories of women who were not inferior to men. When traveling in Datong, I happened to encounter a performance inside the ancient city wall, and only then did I realize that Datong also has a deep connection with Hua Mulan. There are performances inside the ancient city wall of Datong, and the schedule depends on the specific arrangements of the day. They are all costume dramas, and the effects are quite impressive and shocking. I don't know if there are performances on regular days.
The current scale of the ancient city of Datong must have taken a lot of effort to manage, and this deserves a big thumbs up. The streets are cleaner than before. When visiting Datong, it's best to go to Hengshan first, and then the Hanging Temple. If time permits, you can visit Hunyuan County. If you are short on time and want to visit both Hengshan and the Hanging Temple in one day, it's best to book a one-day tour on Ctrip. It's very convenient, hassle-free, and allows you to visit the most attractions within the limited time in Datong, Shanxi. It's very cost-effective.

Shanxi Travel The Hanging Temple in "Black Myth: Wukong".
In the game "Black Myth: Wukong", the Hanging Temple is an important scene.
The Hanging Temple was built in the 15th year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (491 AD) and has a history of more than 1,500 years. The existing buildings were mainly built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Let's take a look at the Hanging Temple today.
🌟
About the tour
The architectural features of the Hanging Temple are "strange, suspended, and ingenious". It is the earliest and best-preserved high-altitude wooden cliff building in China. It has more than 40 halls and pavilions, and the main buildings include the South Tower, the North Tower, the corridor and the plank road. Looking at the Hanging Temple from a distance, it is like a clever cliff relief, forming a unique style of half-wall building and half-wall cave. Every building is fascinating.

Mount Hengshan in the North—Easily Conquered
From the Hunyuan County Tourist Center or the Hanging Temple parking lot, take the shuttle bus to Mount Hengshan. After getting off, you will see signposts directing you. There are two ways to ascend the mountain. One is to take the cable car, and the other is to enter the main gate, have your ticket checked, and then continue taking the shuttle bus to the Hengzong parking lot (midway up the mountain).
Mount Hengshan, the Northern Mountain of the Five Great Mountains of China. Its mountain range originates from Yinshan, extends from Guancen Mountain, and ends at Taihang Mountain. It stretches northeast, winding and undulating, spanning over 500 li (approximately 250 kilometers) from east to west, with 108 magnificent peaks.
The great poet Jia Dao of the Tang Dynasty once described the grandeur of Mount Hengshan with the verse, "The world has five great mountains, Hengshan stands in the north; its cliffs and peaks layer upon layer, mysterious and unfathomable." The famous painter Guo Xi of the Northern Song Dynasty depicted its rugged terrain with the phrase, "Hengshan resembles a moving line."
Although Mount Hengshan has a considerable elevation, it is the easiest peak to climb among the Five Great Mountains. It is not only dotted with cultural relics and historical sites but also boasts unique natural landscapes. Here, the cliffs rise layer upon layer, standing tall and steep, with bizarre rocks of various shapes, forming a unique "woodcut-like" mountain appearance.
We officially started our ascent at around 9:45 AM and successfully reached the summit at 11:55 AM. Everyone began to line up consciously around the central geographical marker to take photos. When we went, it took about 30 minutes to queue.
While waiting in line, we took out the bread, corn, and other dry food we brought to replenish our energy, killing two birds with one stone.
At 1:15 PM, we returned to the Hengzong ticket checkpoint, taking a total of three and a half hours. Overall, the pressure was not too great.

Northern China Wonderlast Spot: Datong, A City of Grand Sight
#chinatrip
Datong is a city in the central part of China, in Shanxi Province, on the loess plateau at the outpost of the Great Wall of China, separating Inner China from Inner Mongolia.
Earlier than other cities in East Asia, Datong was decorated with Buddhist temples and pagodas. The so-called "hanging temple" (Xuankunsi) is particularly famous.
In 431, the city was surrounded by a powerful 16-kilometer wall, but by the end of the 5th century, the Wei rulers moved the capital to Luoyang, and Datong was left to be plundered by nomads and forgotten for several centuries.
Datong, formerly known as Pingcheng, was the capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty. Today, Datong City is one of the most famous historical and cultural cities in China is a famous tourist destination with many historical attractions, including the Yonggang Grottoes, the Hanging Monastery and the Wooden Tower.
Datong experienced a series of tumultuous wars in its early days, and its people longed for peace. Thus, Buddhism gained favor. Buddhist temples began to be built during the Han Dynasty.
Today, there are many well-preserved Buddhist sites in Datong, and the World Heritage Site Yonggang Grottoes is the most popular among tourists.
Today, Datong is more than just a growing industrial area. It boasts a unique mountainous landscape and is the location of some of China's most valuable historical treasures.:
The Yonggang Grottoes are classic masterpieces of Chinese Buddhist art from the 5th and 6th centuries.
The Hanging Monastery is a Buddhist temple built on a rock, which is considered a work of art, as well as a miracle of engineering.
Yingxian Wooden Pagoda is the oldest and tallest wooden pagoda in China.
Datong's Nine Dragons Screen Wall is the largest dragon screen wall in China.
Mount Heng is one of the five sacred mountains of Taoism.
The Shanhua Temple is the most complete and largest group of temples in China.
Besides the attractions of Datong, you can easily extend your trip to explore nearby attractions such as Wutai Mountain and Pingyao Ancient City.

Went to Hengshan, the Northern Peak of Datong, and here are my true feelings, every word from the heart
Hengshan not only has unique natural scenery but also rich cultural landscapes, with numerous temples such as Hengzong Hall and Huixian Mansion.
The Hengshan Scenic Area includes Cuiping Peak and Tianfeng Ridge. Generally, when people say 'visiting Hengshan,' they refer to the Tianfeng Ridge Scenic Area.
Upon entering Hengshan, the first stop is the Hanging Temple. Then, follow the mountain path upwards to visit temples like Hengzong Hall and Huixian Mansion, and finally, reach the main peak, Tianfeng Ridge.
During the tour, pay attention to safety, especially when climbing steep mountain paths, and be extra cautious.
For food recommendations, try the local specialties of Hunyuan, such as Hunyuan cold noodles and fried cakes.

Lazy Guide to Climbing Hengshan (Part One)
Let me share the route I took to Hengshan. I think following my route is really not that tiring, and you won't miss most of the attractions. First, let's talk about the main transportation. If you are driving from Datong, be sure to take the highway. Although the provincial road is shorter, it is full of large trucks and is not safe. There are three ways to tour: 1. Take the cable car. 2. Take the shuttle bus. 3. Climb step by step. I recommend buying a one-way cable car ticket for 70 yuan to go up the mountain. After getting off the cable car, you will reach Kuixing Tower. Then, follow the mountain path and walk slowly. You basically don't need to climb much to reach the temple area, where you will find Wenchang Temple, Guandi Temple, Dragon King Temple, Chunyang Palace, etc. Further ahead are Chongling Gate and Qinglong Baihu Hall. Here, you need to climb about a hundred steps to reach the Chaodian and Yuhuang Pavilion. Pay attention here: if you want to reach the top, continue climbing from here, which will take about another hour. Alternatively, you can follow my route down the mountain to the Sleeping Palace, admire the Dressing Tower and Flying Stone Cave, and then continue down to reach the Bittersweet Well and Ten Kings Hall. After checking in at the iconic Hengshan building 'Paifang,' continue forward. You will pass by places like Tiger Wind Pass and Hengzongzi along the way. Finally, you will reach the Hengshan parking lot, which is also where the shuttle bus stops to drop off passengers. There is also a fairly large Zhenwu Temple here. After visiting, take the shuttle bus for 13 yuan back to the scenic area parking lot to end your trip. This route basically requires no climbing, but you can still see most of the attractions on Hengshan. I think it's pretty good, especially when you see those gasping, leg-rubbing, waist-rubbing climbers with faces full of despair along the way, you will feel even more wise and mighty

I referred to many bloggers' routes, and here is my own transportation route: Datong Ancient City - Hengshan Scenic Area - Hanging Temple - Datong Ancient City
Datong Ancient City - Hengshan Scenic Area 8:10-9:40
I stayed at a hotel near Datong Ancient City. I got up at 7:30 in the morning and arrived at Xingyun South Street Station around 8:10 to take the bus. The fare to the Hanging Temple is 25 yuan, and to Hengshan is 30 yuan.
The 901-1 bus goes to Hunyuan Bus Station, which takes about 1.5 hours. After getting off, you will be notified to change to another bus to continue to the entrance of the scenic area.
Hengshan Scenic Area 10:00-13:00
If you want to climb the mountain, I recommend taking the shuttle bus (13 yuan/person) to the halfway point, climbing to the top, and then taking the cable car down (70 yuan/person). This way, you can climb up without getting too tired. All these tickets can be bought at the window. I climbed for 1.5 hours to reach the top, and my legs were shaking on the way down, I really couldn't walk anymore. The cable car offers a nice view and the ride is long enough.
Hengshan Scenic Area - Hanging Temple 13:00-14:50 by taxi (I spent about eight or nine yuan)
Entering the Hanging Temple costs 15 yuan, and climbing it costs 100 yuan. If you want to climb, make sure to go early to queue. I only chose to enter the park and take photos.
Hanging Temple - Datong Ancient City
Here, I took the scenic area shuttle bus, 39 yuan per person, directly back to Pingyang Square in Datong Ancient City.

Mount Heng of the Northern Yue
Mount Heng of the Northern Yue is located 10 kilometers south of Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province. It is a geographical landmark of China and a sacred site of the Quanzhen School of Taoism. The Hengshan mountain range is known for its majestic and perilous terrain, stretching across the northern frontier. It connects with Yanmen Pass in the west, spans the Taihang Mountains in the east, shields the Three Jin regions in the south, and overlooks the Yan and Yun regions in the north. The mountain peaks extend continuously, undulating for 250 kilometers, with 108 magnificent peaks.
Originally, the Northern Yue referred to Damao Mountain in Quyang, Hebei Province. However, during the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, the capital was established in Beijing, China. Since Damao Mountain in Quyang, Hebei, was south of the capital, it did not align with the name Northern Yue. On the other hand, the main peak of Hengshan in Hunyuan, Shanxi, Tianfeng Ridge, is located north of the capital. Therefore, during the Ming Dynasty, Hengshan in Hunyuan, Shanxi, was renamed Northern Yue. However, due to the long distance, the sacrificial ceremonies continued to be held at Damao Mountain in Quyang. It was not until 1661 that the sacrificial ceremonies were moved to Hunyuan, Shanxi, making Hengshan in Shanxi the true Northern Yue.
The main peak of Mount Heng of the Northern Yue is divided into two peaks: the eastern Tianfeng Ridge and the western Cuiping Peak. The main peak, Tianfeng Ridge, has an elevation of 2016.1 meters and is known as the "Northern Pillar of Heaven" and "Famous Mountain of the Frontier." It is revered as the master of all northern mountains. Jinlong Gorge, located between the two peaks, is only about three zhang (approximately 10 meters) at its narrowest point and has been a strategic military location since ancient times.
My tour route includes a round-trip cable car 🚠, taking a total of three and a half hours (including photo stops and stamping). There is a narrow section of the path that requires careful climbing.

Shanxi Trip 1
Shanxi Trip 1
I set off early in the morning to Beijing North Station, taking the G2529 high-speed train to start my free trip to Shanxi. The important itinerary of this trip is to fulfill my two long-standing wishes. The first is Mount Heng, the last of the Five Great Mountains, and the second is Mount Wutai, one of the Five Great Buddhist Mountains, which I missed several times due to unforeseen circumstances. With this trip, I will have visited all of the Five Great Mountains of the motherland—Mount Tai in the east, Mount Hua in the west, Mount Song in the center, Mount Heng in the south, Mount Heng in the north—as well as the Five Great Buddhist Mountains—Mount Emei, Mount Jiuhua, Mount Putuo, Mount Fanjing, and Mount Wutai. That will be quite an accomplishment!

Mount Heng, the northern pillar, unites the world as one
Datong, the second largest city in Shanxi, borders Inner Mongolia to the north and the capital to the east.
Upon arriving in Datong, apart from experiencing the rich and diverse staple food culture, the most important thing is to feel the scenery and regrets left by the dynasties throughout history.
How should I put it, if possible, I would like to set a few keywords for Datong: Northern Wei Dynasty, border town, knife-cut noodles. Let's start with the most famous Yungang Grottoes.
Yungang Grottoes
❤Recommended reason: As a world-renowned stone carving sculpture, the Yungang Grottoes are firstly about understanding the imperial tactics behind the grottoes, which involve Zen Buddhism and the summoning of monks by scent. Only then comes the exquisite stone carvings and culture. When you come here, I still recommend joining a tour group in advance or looking up strategies beforehand, because there are many places that are not visible at first glance, some are on the left, some behind, some overhead, and some on the body.
Huayan Temple
❤Recommended reason: I recommend looking up strategies for Huayan Temple in advance, with an entrance fee of 50 yuan, entering from the side door. I specifically bought an electronic guide for this, which cost 20 yuan, but it made me very angry. The software is on Alipay, and when I clicked on the explanation below, it started playing automatically. I pressed stop, then clicked on the route, and it started again automatically. I exited, but it kept playing, and in the end, I was listening to the explanation in the Bodhisattva Hall with two voices from my phone, almost driven mad . Because there is an introduction in each hall, except for some key parts, you can actually just look at it yourself. These key parts I think can be found online, such as something in front of the Puguangming Hall, I really forgot and can't remember, the Bodhisattva in the Bodhisattva Hall, I think it's still worth listening to the explanation. And the most important point, the statues in the Manjusri and Samantabhadra Pavilion are all carved from camphor wood, which is very fragrant.
Mount Heng
❤Recommended reason: It's just about climbing the mountain to check in, collecting photos of conquering the Five Great Mountains, the rest is not interesting. There are two springs on the mountain, Sweet Spring and Bitter Spring, the sweet one for daily use, and the bitter one for brewing medicine, but now the bitter one has dried up, and the sweet one is only for the use of the people on the mountain.
Hanging Temple
❤Recommended reason: You must check in, many places are no longer allowed to be seen, and it's very narrow, with people queuing up to walk through. It is said that in a few more years, perhaps for protection, they won't allow people to go up anymore.
Datong Museum
❤Recommended reason: To deepen the impression, many things you heard and saw in other places these two days can be recalled here again, with the focus on the Northern Wei Dynasty, the entire second floor.
