Taichung Sunsets: Chasing the Golden Hour in Taiwan
Taichung is an attractive city that has a much more chill vibes than Taipei. It is a convenient location to get to many other attractions in Chiayi and Alishan
Getting There: You can take a high soeed rail from Taipei. Personally find that public transport is not as robust as Taipei and also Gaomei wetlands is abit far out. Recommend joining a day tour to maximise time.
Food: Best night market in Taichung is Feng Chia Night market with plenty of food options, Also remember to try the famous Sun cakes in Taichung.
Itinerary:
1.
Gaomei Wetlands
Highlights - This place is especially famous and popular to see the stunning sunset and recommend to be there 1 hour before sunset to get a spot and see the wetlands before high tide. You can see crabs and mudskippers. Far from city so will need a cab or half day tour.
2.
Rainbow village
Highlights - Beautifully painted village, hand painted by an old grandpa, formerly a residential area for military people. Colourful and vibrant village.
3.
National Theatre
Highlights - Beautiful architecture and relaxing space where you can chill. There are many small shops selling souvenir and craft items there. Features to see include the butterfly deco on the roof and giant ear in the park opposite.
4.
Miyahara
Highlights - Beautiful building and shop which sells delicious gelato and beautiful biscuits and chocolates. Recommend trying the tea flavour gelato in waffle cup!
5.
Chun Shui Tang
Highlights - Visited the original store and this is claimed to be the founding place of pearl milk tea. Had a enjoyable cup of bubble tea and some snacks in the shop, atmosphere was good and milk tea was fragrant. There are multiple outlets im Taichung.

Taiwan: A Village Filled with Colorful Paintings by One Man
Located just an hour away from Taipei by high-speed rail is Taichung🚉
Did you know there's a place in Taichung known as the Rainbow Village?
The illustrations throughout the village are the work of Mr. Huang Yung-fu, also known as 'Rainbow Grandpa', and they create a fairy-tale-like atmosphere with their unique charm🖼️
It's surprising that this spot was painted by just one person!
There are times when Rainbow Grandpa himself is present, so if you're lucky, you might get to meet him✨
For access, taking a bus or taxi is recommended🚕

Colorful Rainbow Village in Taichung 🌈
If you search "What to Visit in Taichung", you probably will get this place as top 3 recommendation of attraction in Taichung. Rainbow village is an area with amazing wall painting that is full of story and history!
I visited it in the Summer, and many people did too. I went there by Taichung city bus. Fortunately, some of bus/minibus in Taichung charged free for certain distance. My suggestion when you visit this place, please remember the Chinese name of it as well (彩虹眷村) since when I asked the local about its exact location, they didn't familiar with the "Rainbow Village" as its English name ✨

There is such a place, located in the village of Chunanli, Taichung City, Taiwan, has been given a nice name "Rainbow Village", it is a real fairy tale world, is a rainbow kingdom of the elderly.
Rainbow Village is an ordinary village in the village. The surrounding villages have been demolished. It is also impossible to escape the fate of the demolition, but it is a 87-year-old man who saved. It is affectionately called
"Rainbow Grandpa".
The ground, walls, doors and windows in the village lanes are covered with colorful, playful and exaggerated rainbows, flowers, animals, portraits of celebrities, hundreds of cartoon monkeys, cats and children. Although he did not have a professional study of painting, he created a singular role in his writings. The original shabby village became a colorful fairy tale world.
[Traffic]: Take the 290 bus from Taichung Railway Station and get off at [Spring Club], about one hour, then walk to Rainbow Village.
Tango.
"Rainbow Village" is located in Nanxun District, Taichung City, Taiwan. The floors, walls, doors and windows of the village streets are painted with colorful and childlike paintings to attract tourists to take photos.
On the ground, the walls are filled with colorful, playful rabbits, chicks, monkeys, birds, cartoon characters, flowers, the sun and the rainbow. Red, yellow, blue, green, white, gorgeous colors and imaginative lines make people immediately in the world of fairy tales.
Using art to change the fate of the demolition of the village, it should be the most beautiful thing we can feel.
Some people say that the old man is the Taiwanese version of Hayao Miyazaki. The art of creation is full of innocence. A village in the village of Rainbow Village, which writes fairy tales, is also grateful to the old man who wrote the fairy tale like Miyazaki.

Rainbow Village is a tourist attraction. Originated from the 18-year-old Rongmin Huang Yongzhen, who lives in the old village near Lingdong University of Science and Technology in Nanxun District, Taichung City, he picked up the paint brush and used the street in the village as a natural The canvas, painted on the top of the beautiful rainbow lines and cute animals, not only brightened the small village, caused a heated discussion on the network, but also formed a wave of visits. Because of his bold use of color, cute composition and full of childlike interest, the visitors are like being in the rainbow world, so netizens call it "Rainbow Village". This is really the place where everyone is overwhelmed! Staying here, the whole person becomes lively!
There is also a particularly cute "Rainbow Superman" (his self-proclaimed , although I think he is more like Iron Man, haha!) Rainbow Superman is very enthusiastic to help me take pictures, if you come here to take pictures, you can find him No matter how many shots, he is very enthusiastic and will help you design your movements. As long as after the filming, in his small "seeking reward" box, you can enjoy the money~

I knew Rainbow Village for the first time. It was a few sporadic photos and a few words that I saw when I first opened Weibo. At that time, I recorded this nice name in the list of Taiwanese must-have that already existed in my mind. On the second day of coming to Taichung, I went to Donghai University early in the morning to read the Lusiyi Church, and I quickly went to the rainbow paradise of the Rainbow Village.
If the color is blocked, the house is low, and the village where the roadway is forced to look more like a shanty town with a combination of urban and rural areas. But on the wall, the ground, the windows... Wherever the sights are everywhere, the rainbow-like and graffiti paintings full of childlikeness are the "Rainbow Grandpa", which makes this unseen village that should have been demolished become An incredible fairy tale kingdom.
For the "Rainbow Grandpa" Huang Yongzhen, now 95 years old, every brick in the village and the house is his canvas. In his own words, when he was 86, he started picking up the brush because he was "boring." The old man used to brush and smear outside the house outside his house to pass the time. Later, it gradually painted the walls and courtyards of the neighbors. Later, the grounds, walls, doors and windows of the entire village were covered with colorful, playful and exaggerated rainbows, flowers, animals and other paintings. For more than six years, a veteran who had never studied painting for a day made the Rainbow Village accidentally red with cute graffiti, and indirectly protected the last seven houses in the village from demolition.

The walls, roofs, and alleys are adorned with various vibrant patterns, from playful animals and innocent portraits to imaginative scenes, making visitors feel as if they are stepping into a dreamy fairy tale world. All of this is the work of 'Grandpa Rainbow' Huang Yung-Fu, who uses simple brushes to express his love for life and the warmth of memories. Rainbow Village is not just a village of paintings but a perfect blend of life and art, attracting countless travelers to stop, admire, and capture memories.

【Taiwan】Colorful and Cute 🪆 Rainbow Village.
Rainbow Village in Taichung is a vibrant spot that you won't forget once you visit! This small village was once an old settlement where retired soldiers lived, but it was transformed into a unique place when a former soldier, Huang Yongfu (affectionately known as Grandpa Rainbow), started painting the village's buildings.
The entire village is like a colorful canvas, with houses, walls, roads, and even floors covered in pop illustrations and bright colors. The paintings feature animals, people, flowers, and characters, all of which are adorable and full of humor. The rainbow-colored paths and cheerful character drawings, in particular, captivate visitors.
This art project began when the village was at risk of being demolished, and Huang succeeded in protecting the village and attracting attention by painting. As a result, it has now become a popular tourist destination in Taichung, attracting many visitors.
Rainbow Village is also a popular spot for photography, and every corner is Instagram-worthy! When Huang was still active, visitors had the chance to take photos with him and chat, adding a warm story to the village's charm.
Access is relatively easy by bus or taxi from Taichung city, making it a perfect stop during city sightseeing. Admission is free, but supporting the village through donations or purchasing souvenirs is recommended. It's a wonderful place to take photos in a colorful world, enjoy heartwarming stories, and have a fun time!

Rainbow grandpa, Mr. Huang Yung-Fu spent his lifetime painting the village. I was truly amazed by the beauty of Rainbow Village.
Small village but quite pretty. Open from 9am to 5pm. It can be quite crowded. The outside is painted by the original master while the inside is painted by the student.
The Rainbow 🌈 Village isn't just your typical tourist spot; it's a vibrant haven for art enthusiasts.
Our dream destination is to go to Hong Kong for my family trip as Hong Kong is paradise for food lovers, offering a wide variety of culinary delights. My family will enjoy it very much.
