The First Pass Under Heaven - Shanhaiguan
The Great Wall - Shanhaiguan, also known as Yuguan, Yuguguan, and Linlüguan, is located 10 km east of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. It is backed by the Yanshan Mountains in the north, faces the Bohai Sea in the south, connects to Liaoning in the east, and is close to Beijing and Tianjin in the west. It is a strategic passage connecting Northeast China and North China, and one of the northeastern passes of the Ming Great Wall. Before 1990, it was considered the eastern starting point of the Ming Great Wall. It is known as one of the "Three Wonders of the Great Wall" (Shanhaiguan in the east, Zhenbeitai in the middle, and Jiayuguan in the west), "The First Pass Under Heaven," and "The Throat of the Border County, the Protection of the Capital." It echoes with Jiayuguan thousands of miles away and is famous worldwide.
As early as the Sui Dynasty (583), a pass city was built here. In the 14th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1381), Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang ordered the construction of a city and pass here. It was built by Xu Da, the King of Zhongshan, and was named Shanhaiguan because it is backed by mountains and faces the sea. Since then, Shanhaiguan has undergone multiple repairs and expansions, becoming a military stronghold guarding the throat of Northeast and North China. Shanhaiguan is known as "The First Pass Under Heaven," and the plaque was written by the famous Ming Dynasty calligrapher Xiao Xian. Shanhaiguan is connected to the Great Wall, with the city as the pass. It has four main city gates and various defensive buildings, including the "First Pass Under Heaven" arrow tower, Jingbian Tower, Muying Tower, Linlü Tower, Wengcheng, and 1,350 meters of the Ming Dynasty plain Great Wall.
Shanhaiguan has always been a strategic location in history, with significant strategic importance. As one of the eastern starting points of the Ming Great Wall (although it was later discovered that the actual eastern starting point of the Ming Great Wall is the Hushan Great Wall in Kuandian County, Dandong City, Liaoning Province), Shanhaiguan had a dangerous terrain in the cold weapon era, with the saying "one man guards the pass, ten thousand cannot open it." It could withstand attacks from a considerable scale of troops and remain unscathed.
On March 4, 1961, the Great Wall - Shanhaiguan was listed as one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In December 1987, the Great Wall, including the Great Wall - Shanhaiguan, was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

Seaside Diary | 2-Day 1-Night Qinhuangdao Travel Guide for November
Qinhuangdao is a well-known vacation destination. Winter is the off-season, so you can choose a few areas to visit.
Qinhuangdao's attractions are relatively scattered, and tickets for each attraction may be sold together. For example, a ticket for Shanhaiguan District for CNY 68 can be used for almost the entire district. We recommend consulting the ticket office.
This guide is for those planning to visit Qinhuangdao in November.
🗓Itinerary:
Laolongtou Scenic Area → Shanhaiguan Ancient City → Qinhuang Alley → Glass Museum → Qinhuangdao Museum → Jinmeng Bay Beach
🌟Highlights:
[One] Laolongtou Scenic Area
As a historical site integrating border defense and coastal defense, Laolongtou Scenic Area has a rich cultural heritage. There are complete signs and explanations in the scenic area, so you can take your time to explore. The most amazing thing is the Great Wall extending into the sea. You can go down the stairs all the way to the end of the Great Wall and look at the sea level in the distance.
[Two] Shanhaiguan Ancient City
This ancient city has a strong sense of life, with attractions, schools, restaurants, and homestays. As a tourist, you can:
1. Check in at "The First Pass Under Heaven." If you have enough time, you can walk along the ancient city wall.
2. Visit the "Chuang Guandong" Experience Hall to learn about this period of history. The ginkgo trees in front of the hall are beautiful.
3. Climb the Drum Tower and overlook the ancient city.
4. Go to Wang Family Courtyard to experience the architecture and garden style of northern China.
[Three] Qinhuang Alley
This is essentially a large snack street with many stalls, but there is a lot of repetition. The hygiene is good.
Glass Museum
The Glass Museum was rebuilt on the site of a former glass factory. It is not very big, and an hour is enough to visit.
[Four] Qinhuangdao Museum
Qinhuangdao Museum is very good. There are free explanations in the museum to help tourists understand the city.
[Five] Jinmeng Bay Beach
This is a very long beach with many man-made landscapes for taking photos. In winter, many seagulls gather here. You can bring some bread or biscuits to feed them. Of course, the beach looks better when the weather is good. The sunny seaside of Qinhuangdao has an oil painting-like texture.
📝Tips:
1. Regarding going out to sea, there are many people soliciting customers at the entrance of each scenic spot. It usually costs CNY 70–80 per person. We recommend going out to sea to watch the sunset, which is very beautiful.
2. There is a good restaurant not far from the Glass Museum called Qin Jia Wei. The food is delicious, and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended.

A Laolongtou, a history of the Great Wall.
❤Recommended reason:
Laolongtou is located in Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, and is the eastern starting point of the Ming Great Wall. It is named because it resembles the head of a giant dragon that stretches into the Bohai Sea. The Ming Great Wall starts from Laolongtou in Shanhaiguan in the east and ends at Jiayuguan in the west, with a total length of 8,851.8 kilometers.
Chenghai Tower is the highest point of the scenic area. Climbing the Chenghai Tower, you can overlook the entire Laolongtou and feel the magnificent scene of "the Great Wall connects the sea and the water connects the sky, and people fly to the top of the sky."
The "Tian Kai Hai Yue" stele is said to be a relic of the Tang Dynasty. These four words seem to have the charm of the wonderful scenery of "looking at the sky, the vastness is blue, and the sky is suitable for the earth."
I traveled with the Great Wall and have passed five passes so far: Juyongguan, Yanmenguan, Jiayuguan, Yangguan, and Shanhaiguan. I also experienced the essence of the Great Wall, Jinshanling Great Wall, and found my own surprises and touches, bringing me unprecedented shock!
ForkAndKnife
I love China, I will repair the Great Wall, Shanhaiguan Laolongtou.
📍Attraction address: Laolongtou
🚗Attraction transportation: Bus
👍️Must-see attraction: Laolongtou Great Wall and beach
🎟️Ticket information: Seniors 30, adults 40, buy tickets online and enter the park with ID card
💗Other tips:
The scenic spot is relatively remote, it is recommended to travel green or take a taxi
The scenery is really beautiful, suitable for taking photos with the elderly and children
Seeing the beautiful scenery by the sea is really healing
The sea and sky are the same color, the scenery is absolutely beautiful
This is the starting point of the ancient Great Wall of China, a witness of history, the dragon head enters the sea, cuts through the waves, and the blessings are endless❤️❤️❤️
You can also touch the Laolongtou, and you will be free from all worries and heal all troubles☀️

Sea and waves, warmth and gentleness, love or not, it's all up to you.
Qinhuangdao is located in the northeast of Hebei Province and is a beautiful coastal city.
It boasts unique natural scenery. The beach has fine sand and a long coastline, where the blue sea meets the blue sky. Pigeon Nest Park is a bird-watching paradise. Every year, many migratory birds fly here, allowing people to enjoy the spectacular sight of flocks of birds. Lianfeng Mountain in Qinhuangdao has undulating mountains and dense vegetation. Climbing the mountain, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the city and the sea.
Qinhuangdao also has a profound history and culture. There is the First Pass Under Heaven, Shanhaiguan, which is majestic and has witnessed countless historical changes. It is an outstanding representative of ancient architectural art. There are also various special delicacies, such as seafood, crabs, mantis shrimp, and other delicious foods that make people drool. Qinhuangdao combines natural scenery and cultural landscapes, making it a great place for leisure and tourism.

The First Pass Under Heaven - Shanhaiguan Pass.
🌈Highlights: Shanhaiguan Pass, backed by the Yanshan Mountains in the north and connected to the Bohai Sea in the south, is an important pass at the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall. It is magnificent, with high and strong walls and a majestic tower. The plaque on the tower reads "The First Pass Under Heaven" in five powerful characters, telling the glory of the past. It is a military fortress that has witnessed countless years of war, and the glint and flash of cold steel seem to be still in front of us. The ancient bricks and stones bear the weight of history, and every crack seems to be a mark of time. Climb the tower and look out over the Bohai Sea, with its vast waves, and the mountains, with their dangerous terrain. Shanhaiguan Pass is like a silent giant standing on the land of China, guarding the thousand-year-old civilization of China.
🎟️Tickets: CNY 50 for adults
🕐️Opening hours: 8:00–17:00

Shanhaiguan.
Shanhaiguan, Qinhuangdao, I had only heard of it from textbooks before. It is the end of the Great Wall, and the section of the Great Wall that extends into the sea. Seeing it in person is still very spectacular, and I applaud the wisdom and hard work of the ancients.
This trip to Qinhuangdao was with a tour group. The weather was very good and cool. Due to the rain, the seawater was very cold and only suitable for wading. There were many tourists on vacation. At night, I went to the night market, which was very lively and had a wide variety of goods, just like a big city.

Shanhaiguan Laolongtou
Laolongtou is located in the Shanhaiguan District of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, and is the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall where it meets the sea.
Laolongtou has a high and steep terrain, with the 'Stone City into the Sea' built by Qi Jiguang, the general of Jizhen in the Ming Dynasty.
The famous building of Laolongtou is the 'Chenghai Tower', but I personally prefer the 'Xiangong Temple'. The heroes who guarded Shanhaiguan will be immortal!

The easternmost tourist area of the Great Wall
The Great Wall is world-famous, and there are many tourist areas. The easternmost tourist area of the Great Wall is the Jiumen Great Wall. It is connected to Shanhaiguan and is a prime section of the Great Wall scenery. When we arrived, it was raining moderately, but there were still many tourists, including many foreigners. If you are visiting Shanhaiguan or Laolongtou, I recommend you to visit the Jiumen Great Wall. You can buy tickets directly on Ctrip.

Where does The Great wall end?
#naturalbeauty Have you ever wondered where does The Great Wall of China end on the eastern side?
Well, if you follow the wall from end-to-end, it eventually runs into the sea! This site can be seen in a small village in Qinhuangdao city.
An interesting note is I took these photos in spring time just after most of the snow melted. A definite recommendation to visit as most tourist locations along The Great Wall are usually very busy, this little town is magnificent with a lot of cultural history!
A local hotel is very affordable and the people are very friendly and hospitable. The food they cook mouthwatering delicious!
Chairman Mao once said "不去长城 非好汉" (Bù qù chángchéng fēi hǎohàn) - "He who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man"

The charm of Qinhuangdao is astonishing
Qinhuangdao not only has Aranya but also the picturesque Shanhaiguan. This place, with its mountains, seas, history, and culture, is definitely worth a visit.
Shanhaiguan is the first pass at the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall, known as the 'First Pass Under Heaven' and 'The Key to the Two Capitals'. Its three main attractions—mountains, seas, and the pass—form its name.
Mountain—Jiaoshan
Jiaoshan is the highest peak in Shanhaiguan, with an altitude of 520 meters. The promise of eternal love originates here. The hiking route on the Jiaoshan Great Wall is not long, but it is steep and the steps are very high, so it can be a bit tiring. It is recommended to hike up and take the cable car down.
Sea—Laolongtou
Laolongtou is located by the sea and is named because the stone city extending into the sea resembles a dragon's head reaching into the ocean. It is recommended to visit on a sunny day when the sea is bluer. You can bring slippers to walk on the beach and listen to the sound of the waves, which is very soothing. The Chenghai Tower, Laolongtou, Haishen Temple, and the Bagua Formation are all great for photography.
Pass—The First Pass Under Heaven
The First Pass is located in the center of Shanhaiguan and is one of the three major passes along with Juyongguan and Jiayuguan. It is a must-visit place in Shanhaiguan. Climb the ancient city walls and feel the long history. There is also a light and shadow show on the city wall in the evening in the square in front of it. It is recommended to visit it together with the ancient city of Shanhaiguan.
Transportation
Take the high-speed train to 'Shanhaiguan Railway Station'. Shanhaiguan is not large, and the attractions are not far from each other, making it very convenient to travel by taxi.
Accommodation
Staying in the ancient city of Shanhaiguan or near the railway station is very convenient.

Essential Guide for Visiting Qinhuangdao During the Scorching Summer Heat
Itinerary Suggestions:
Day1: Aranya--Ocean Blue Coast--Xianluo Island
Day2: Shallow Bay--Tiger Stone--Pigeon Nest--Biluo Tower
Day3: Shanhaiguan--Laolongtou (Old Dragon's Head)--Xigang Garden
Attraction Introductions:
Aranya: To enter Aranya, book a homestay or a coffee shop in advance, or make an appointment for the library and its galleries a week ahead. It's a great place for photography.
Xianluo Island: There's often a long queue for the sea cable car, and the beaches here have white sand and clear waves.
Tiger Stone: The slope is gentle and the water quality is good. It's indeed a great place for swimming, with blue sea, tides, sea breeze, and sunshine, very pleasant.
Pigeon Nest: The seaside cliffs, tidal flats, Mandarin Duck Lake, and the Sea-viewing Promenade in the park are all great spots for photography.
Biluo Tower: The highlight is at night with performances, and during the day, many people take wedding photos here, with beautiful scenery.
Shanhaiguan: The ancient city of Shanhaiguan is the first important pass at the eastern starting point of the Great Wall from the Ming Dynasty, with performances worth watching now.
Laolongtou (Old Dragon's Head): A perfect combination of the Great Wall and the sea! Don't believe the locals who say they can show you the real Old Dragon's Head.
Tips:
1. It's best to drive to Qinhuangdao! The city is divided into 5 districts with large spans between them, taxis are expensive (starting at 30), buses are scarce, there's no subway, and the price of renting electric bikes varies! Pay attention to traffic restrictions when driving.
2. The coastline of Qinhuangdao is also very long, and you can see the sea from any district, so it's not necessary to stay in Beidaihe. Currently, the most convenient area is still the Haigang District in the city center!
3. Make sure to apply sunscreen and take physical sun protection measures, as the sun at the beach is very strong.
4. Do not casually accept things or free gifts handed to you by strangers.
5. Avoid going to Liu Zhuang night market, the food is mediocre and many are tourist traps, mostly visited by tourists from other places.

Follow the Textbook to Travel - Shanhaiguan: Eating, Accommodation, and Transportation Tips! (Pitfall Avoidance Guide)
This time, departing from Beijing to Qinhuangdao, we avoided the crowded Beidaihe and went to Shanhaiguan first. It felt like Shanhaiguan's cultural heritage had a lot to offer! During this one and a half day trip to Shanhaiguan, we gained a lot and have compiled a guide to eating, accommodation, and transportation to avoid pitfalls! Hope it helps those who love life!
⛱️Must-visit attractions: Laolongtou, The First Pass Under Heaven, Shanhaiguan Old Town, Drum Tower, Wang Family Courtyard
We arrived at Shanhaiguan around nine in the morning, then took a taxi directly to the old town. Since it wasn't check-in time yet, we put down our luggage and went to play first!
🌄Travel Tips:
Buy the 130 yuan combo ticket in advance, which includes a sightseeing bus (the combo ticket is valid for two days, but the sightseeing bus is only valid for the day. The driver will scan the ticket at each attraction, and you can't take the bus twice to the same attraction).
If you plan to stay overnight,
it is recommended to go to Laolongtou in the morning. Although it is outside the old town, going early means fewer people. Taking photos at Laolongtou is very picturesque, and there is also a beach with fine sand where you can play with children! (Be prepared for sun protection and bring food and drinks in advance).
In the afternoon, return to the old town and stroll around the commercial street, Drum Tower, and Wang Family Courtyard (or you can visit these the next morning).
Then go to The First Pass Under Heaven, as there is a light show at night. If you don't want to see the light show, you can choose to visit The First Pass Under Heaven early the next morning (we chose to climb The First Pass Under Heaven early the next morning). With fewer people, walking along the ancient city wall allows you to take many beautiful photos! Additionally, there is a welcoming performance at 9:30 in front of The First Pass Under Heaven square!
🏨Accommodation Tips:
We booked a homestay inside the old town in advance. It was a small courtyard with two households, clean and tidy, with a double bed, a single bed, and a large tatami in the inner room that can sleep three people, accommodating six people in total without any problem. There was a projector, board games, children's toys, and even a thermometer prepared, very thoughtful! There were also sunshades and lounge chairs in the yard! The environment was quiet at night, and it was a five to six-minute walk to the commercial street without any detours!
Food Tips:
(1) Shanhaiguan's specialty is Hun Pot (meat pot). We asked the ride-hailing driver in the morning, and he recommended several restaurants in the old town that were economical and affordable. We went to Lao Mutan Hun Pot and wanted to order a four-person meal. The owner was very honest and suggested that a two-person meal would be enough for us, saying we wouldn't finish a four-person meal. It turned out he was right because the two-person meal was already a lot! The table next to us had eight people and only ordered a four-person meal!
(2) Si Tiao Baozi, economical and affordable, not far from Lao Mutan Hun Pot, both on the commercial street. Two adults and two children ate for less than 50 yuan and were full!
(3) Shanhaiguan Old Soda and Old Ice Cream should not be bought on the commercial street or at attractions. Buy them at small shops in the alleys of the old town; they are much cheaper!
Other Suggestions:
If you are taking very young children, be sure to stay overnight, then stroll around the old town in the morning when there are fewer people. There are many beautiful graffiti paintings on the walls, full of artistic vibes, reminiscent of Gulangyu in Xiamen!
Although the old town is somewhat dilapidated, strolling around in the evening or early morning when there are fewer people gives a sense of time travel. The old houses feel like they have been through the test of time, completely different from the bustling scene during the day!

Travel Guide for Visiting the Laolongtou (Old Dragon's Head) in Shanhaiguan, Qinhuangdao
📍Shanhaiguan - Laolongtou Scenic Area
📚The Great Wall starts from Laolongtou in the east and stretches to Jiayuguan in the west. Laolongtou is the eastern seafront starting point, where the stone city extends into the Bohai Sea like a dragon's head, hence the name 'Old Dragon's Head'. It is the only part of the Great Wall that combines mountain, sea, pass, and city into one maritime and land military defense system.
Climbing up the Chenghai Tower, one can feel the grandeur and vastness as if 'the Great Wall joins the sea, the sea joins the sky, and people ascend the tower to reach the pinnacle of a hundred feet'.
🚗It takes about 15 minutes to drive from Shanhaiguan Station to Laolongtou Scenic Area, and a taxi costs around 10 yuan. For self-driving, parking at Laolongtou costs 5 yuan per hour.
🚪Opening hours in October: 07:30 - 17:30
🎫Adult ticket is 48 yuan, just scan the QR code to enter the park, no ID required. The visitor center offers luggage storage for free.
‼️Shanhaiguan Scenic Area Joint Ticket (Laolongtou + The First Pass under Heaven + Zhonggulou + Wangjia Dayuan + Wangyanglou + Ying'enlou + Sightseeing Car) is 118 yuan.
If you have one day to spend in Shanhaiguan, consider buying a combo ticket as there are many attractions with separate charges. The First Pass under Heaven alone costs 40 yuan, Wangjia Dayuan 30 yuan, and climbing Zhonggulou costs 10 yuan.
‼️All attractions are mainly in two places: The First Pass under Heaven Scenic Area (Ancient City) and Laolongtou Scenic Area. It's about a 13-minute drive between the two areas. The Ancient City is divided into The First Pass under Heaven and the Pedestrian Street.
If you want to see the night show (light show) at The First Pass under Heaven, go to Laolongtou first. If not, start with The First Pass under Heaven, as Laolongtou is closer to the recommended restaurant below, a 5-minute drive away.
👪For a family trip with 2 adults and 1 child, the Shanhaiguan All-Access Ticket is 326 yuan.
👀Highlights of Laolongtou: Ninghai City (Ming dynasty military camp, including the General Administration, Longwu Camp: The First Pot in the World, which doesn't look real but is indeed preserved from the past. The big characters on the wall 'Fǔ', meaning pot, and 'Fǔ dǐ chōu xīn', meaning 'undermine the foundation of something', refer to the pot. The pot and the place for making fire are one story high.) ➡️ General's Platform + Bagua Maze (Horse riding costs 50 yuan for a small round, and the price is the same for big and small horses. Taking photos on the horse costs 10 yuan) ➡️ Chenghai Tower ➡️ Great Wall Sea Entrance ➡️ Beach.
You can take photos on and below the city walls at the sea entrance, which is quite impressive.
When there are fewer people, taking photos on the city wall is very photogenic, refer to the photo spots in the pictures. If you don't want to capture other visitors, go early.
There are no changing rooms in the scenic area, and the sea breeze can be cold, so make sure to bring clothes for children.
🍗It is not recommended to eat in the scenic area, as there are restaurants not far from it. Recommended 📍Yunxuan Seafood Restaurant, which has branches in Shanhaiguan and Nandaihe. Spicy crab, golden wheat shrimp, and shrimp dumplings are specialties of Qinhuangdao. The Yunxuan special tofu is not highly recommended (though it can be tried for novelty).
📍Shanhai Fisherman's House: Great value for money, a seafood pot costs just over 100 yuan. Enough for two people.

If you also want to visit Huludao Dongdaihe, then hurry up and book your stay🐎!

Shanhaiguan Pass, deservedly known as the world's foremost pass
The Great Wall - Shanhaiguan, also known as Yugu, Yuguan, or Linyuguan, is located at No. 1 Dongdajie, Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. It is one of the northeastern passes of the Ming Dynasty's Great Wall. Before 1990, it was considered the starting point of the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall and is known as one of the 'Three Great Wonders of the Great Wall of China' (Shanhaiguan in the east, Zhenbeitai in the middle, Jiayuguan in the west), also referred to as 'the world's foremost pass,' 'the throat of the border regions,' and 'the bulwark of the capital.' It echoes the distant Jiayuguan, and is renowned worldwide.
In the fourteenth year of the Hongwu era (1381), the founder of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, ordered the construction of a city and pass here, thus becoming a military stronghold that controls the strategic throat of Northeast and North China. Named after its location nestled between mountains and sea, Shanhaiguan is praised as 'the world's foremost pass.' The plaque was inscribed by the famous Ming Dynasty calligrapher Xiao Xian. The circumference of the Shanhaiguan city wall is about 4 kilometers, connected to the Great Wall, with the city serving as the pass. The city wall is 14 meters high and 7 meters thick, with four main city gates and various defensive structures. These include the 'world's foremost pass' watchtower, Jingbian Tower, Muying Tower, Linyu Tower, Wengcheng (barbican), and a 1350-meter-long section of the Ming Dynasty's plain Great Wall.
On March 4, 1961, the Great Wall - Shanhaiguan was announced by the State Council as one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
In December 1987, the Great Wall, including Shanhaiguan, was declared a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO.
Chinese Name: The Great Wall - Shanhaiguan
Geographic Location: No. 1 Dongdajie, Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province
Era: Ming Dynasty
Recommended Duration of Visit: 1—2 hours
Best Seasons to Visit: Suitable in spring, summer, and autumn
Christopher Thompson Finn-51
The starting point of the mountains, the end of the sea, is indeed the foremost pass under the heavens
Years ago, the Shanhaiguan scenic area was penalized for excessive commercialization, but looking at it now, it seems alright; the commercialization is not as excessive as I imagined.
Standing atop Shanhaiguan, gazing into the distance, one can still feel a sense of lofty ambition and pride. The mountain is right beneath one's feet, the sea right before one's eyes, a majestic pass standing tall above the waves and the beach, guarding the edge of the world.
Shanhaiguan is known as one of the 'Three Great Wonders of the Great Wall of China' (with Shanhaiguan in the east, Zhenbeitai in the center, and Jiayuguan in the west), echoing the distant Jiayuguan, and is renowned throughout the world.

Qinhuangdao, a scenic spot
"Qinhuangdao, this is a beautiful and artistic city," I've always been murmuring about Qinhuangdao in my heart, and I just came back from a trip there recently, finally fulfilling my dream of Qinhuangdao.
I spent 5 days and 4 nights in Qinhuangdao with a few girlfriends a few days ago, which can be considered an in-depth tour. We not only visited the surrounding seaside scenic spots such as Beidaihe, Shanhaiguan, Aranya, Xianluo Island, and Yudao, but also had a blast throughout the trip. Therefore, after returning, I specifically summarized my experience of this trip to Qinhuangdao and shared it with everyone, hoping to help more friends who want to travel to Qinhuangdao.

Qinhuangdao Travel Guide: Biluota Sea Bar and Wildlife Park
Qinhuangdao Travel Guide📖 Three days of fun in Qinhuangdao||| Hehe, I'm also a title party 😜 I've been in Qinhuangdao for four years, and I've pretty much played around here! I hope this guide can help everyone 😉
Attractions: Pigeon Nest Park, Xigang Garden, Azure Coast, Dada Island Sun City Castle, Tiger Stone Marine Park, Xianluo Island, Shanhaiguan, Laolongtou, Biluota Sea Bar Park, Blue KFC (the only blue exterior by the sea), Huanhai Road, Strange Building Garden, Aranya (these attractions are all detailed in my previous notes 📒)
Food: I recommend going to Qinhuang Xiaoxiang or Gongfuzhuang Night Market (Liu Zhuang Night Market can be simply visited, but I do not recommend spending there). For accommodation, you can choose near the Maoye B Building, which is close to the snack street and the seaside 🚶♀️, and it is quite lively (there is also a snack street at the entrance of Maoye Tiandi from twelve o'clock to midnight). Near Maoye, there is a Golden Dream Bay by the seaside 🌊, where there is a free exhibition 'Haibitai', but it has not been well arranged recently 😔, you can go and see if you have free time 👀 (if you are on a limited budget 💰, you can also stay at Letanghui).
Those with children can go to the Qinhuangdao Wildlife Park 🐒, which is very close to Pigeon Nest 🪹, and can be arranged on the same day. Shanhaiguan and Laolongtou are in the Shanhaiguan District, and if you only play in Beidaihe and Nandaihe, you can skip them 😯, but if you plan to play in the Shanhaiguan District for a day, you can go to Leda, which is very close.
Qinhuangdao has many other places, such as Yudao, but if you're only playing for two or three days, there's no need to go. The most beautiful place in Qinhuangdao is Aranya 🏖️, unfortunately, I have never been in 🥹, everyone must find time to experience it!!!
The most beautiful coastal road is near Tiger Stone, and it can be arranged on the same day as Liu Zhuang Night Market and Strange Building Garden 😉 I highly recommend everyone to rent a small electric car and ride along the seaside, it's super romantic 💕
The temperature difference in the seaside city is big, remember to bring a jacket 🧥, it's still a bit cool by the sea 🧊.
If there's anything else you want to know, feel free to ask in the comments section 🤗 I'm very happy to interact with everyone 😘 and I hope you all follow me more 😉

Are the 3 ticketed attractions in the Shanhaiguan Ancient City worth it? This guide tells you!
Upon entering the Shanhaiguan Ancient City, you are greeted by the stone walls and slate roads with a sense of age, and many "indigenous" residents still live here, filling the alleys with the breath of life. There is no clear boundary between tourists and residents.
⛰【Attraction Guide】
📍Detailed Address:
Shanhaiguan Ancient City Scenic Area
🗓Itinerary:
Enter the ancient city through the South Gate (Wangyang Tower) → South Street → Wang's Grand Courtyard → Bell and Drum Tower → East Street → The First Pass under Heaven
🕙Opening Hours:
The ancient city itself is open 24h, but the paid attractions have opening hours from 9:00-17:30 (usually they stop admitting visitors after 17:00)
💰Ticket Price:
The ancient city itself is free, but the joint ticket for the 3 attractions is 50 yuan/person, Wang's Grand Courtyard alone is 30 yuan, The First Pass under Heaven alone is 30 yuan, and the Bell and Drum Tower alone is 20 yuan.
🌟Highlights:
The city walls and towers of The First Pass under Heaven are really imposing, and you can overlook the entire ancient city. We were lucky to catch the 🌇sunset when we went, which was super beautiful! The garden inside Wang's Grand Courtyard is also very pretty, a hidden gem.
📌Little Tips:
There are actually only three attractions in the ancient city that charge a fee, and it generally takes about 3 hours to visit all three. If you're short on time or don't want to go inside, it's completely free. But personally, I think The First Pass under Heaven and Wang's Grand Courtyard are worth visiting, and it's more cost-effective to buy a joint ticket. All tickets are valid for the day of purchase only. We bought a joint ticket but didn't have enough time to see everything, so we only visited Wang's Grand Courtyard and the tower of The First Pass under Heaven. Personally, I feel these two attractions are the essence of the ancient city.

The first pass in the world - Shanhaiguan | Qinhuangdao Beidaihe Travel Guide
|Qinhuangdao Beidaihe Travel Guide. The throat of border counties and the barrier of the capital."
🏰It was built in the 14th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty. The place where the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty meets the sea is named after the mountain and the sea - Shanhaiguan🏔️
🏰As a witness to the turning point of China's history and destiny, Shanhaiguan has witnessed too many stories of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Every brick and tile here has gone through a hundred years of wind and rain💨
.
🏔️There are four gates in the whole city of Shanhaiguan: Zhendong Gate in the east, Yingen Gate in the west, Wangyang Gate in the south, and Weiyuan Gate in the north.
🏔️Guancheng is square in shape, with a main city perimeter of 4 kilometers. It is not only a pass 🌇, but also a city 🏰. The entire Shanhaiguan Pass is based on the city.
🏔️If the enemy invades, the Wengcheng outside Guancheng will play an important role, using Guanmen as the second line of defense to control the enemy from the "turtle in the jar"🏹
.
🏰Among the four gates of Guancheng, the east gate of Zhendong is the most famous. There is a tower on the city platform, and a huge plaque nearly 6 meters long saying "The First Pass in the World" hangs on the upper floor.
🏰According to legend, it was written by Xiao Xian, a Jinshi in the eighth year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty and a native of Shanhaiguan.
.
When you walk into the park in the scenic area, you can first see the officials handling customs clearance documents✍️
Visitors can see children feeding fish and oversized koi 🐠
There are many small shops on the roadside, and their signs are all related to Shanhaiguan, such as "Qijiajun Dumplings", "Shanhaiguan Muddy Pot" and so on🍴
When you climb up the Chengguan Pass, you will see the "Original Picture of the Shanhaiguan Ancient Building of the Great Wall" and the "Qinglong Yanyue Sword" of Mr. Guan 🗡️
The cannons on the city wall also attracted many children to watch
.
💡Finally, some tips about Shanhaiguan:
🎟️Tickets:
Adult 40¥💰
Children under 1.2m and seniors over 70 years old are free of charge👴
Children aged 1.2~1.4m, seniors aged 60~69 and students are eligible for discounted tickets🎓
.
Qinhuangdao is the only city in China named after the emperor. Beidaihe and Qinhuangdao are only 2 to 3 hours drive from Beijing and Tianjin🚘
This has become a summer garden for surrounding cities🌳
Since you have been to Qinhuangdao, you must go to Shanhaiguan.

Shanhaiguan in Hebei, the thousand-year beacon tower
I have always imagined what the boundaries of this world would look like, until I came to Shanhaiguan in Hebei. Standing here, I feel as if I can see the river of time rushing through the corridor of history. This ancient and magnificent pass is the pride of the Chinese nation, and a page of Chinese history.
With reverence in my heart, I walked onto the ancient city wall. Above me, the vast blue sky; beneath me, the winding alleys. The significance of the Great Wall at Shanhaiguan is not just a defensive line, but also a living fossil of the history of resistance and border defense. The bloody battles, the valiant soldiers, all have left deep marks on this wall.
My steps continue forward, and the scenery before me gradually becomes more expansive. Overlooking Shanhaiguan, I am stunned by the magnificent scenery surrounded by towering mountains. The Yellow River rushes past, stretching for thousands of miles, bringing endless vitality and prosperity to this land. Standing on Shanhaiguan and looking into the distance, I feel as if I could also become a brave general, galloping across the battlefield.
Strolling under Shanhaiguan, one can see the beacon towers that have stood for thousands of years. They are towering dams, staring at the changing winds of history, carrying legendary times. The beacon towers are filled with magnificent poems, and every valiant soldier has shed blood and sweat for this land.
Shanhaiguan also has a place that people yearn for, the vast coastal wetlands. In this vast expanse of green, I seem to feel the most primitive heartbeat of nature. The birds in the wetlands sing joyfully, and the lake shimmers. This is a paradise for flora and fauna, and a haven for people to relax.
Standing on Shanhaiguan, I touch the traces of history. I can feel that the scars left by ancient history are all telling the story of the People's Liberation War, making me, a person born in an era of peace, rekindle respect for history. This silent wall outside the pass is also like a book, waiting for us to read.
