🌋 Volcano Geopark in INNER MONGOLIA
Covering an area of about 65km, these amazing volcanoes can be found during your trip to Inner Mongolia. Visiting the Wulanhada Geopark is completely free and you can choose to walk around the volcanoes or drive to several of them throughout the day (recommended).
More than 30 volcanoes here are distributed like a string of beads on the grassland, and the flat terrain shows off the shape of the volcanoes perfectly. Because of its unique volcanic geology and landform, this unique "volcanic grassland", is known as the "natural volcano museum", and definitely worth a visit.
But out of the 30, there are 8 main volcanoes to see and climb. are arranged from northeast to southwest respectively, with a total distance of about 10 kilometers. The big ones are Volcano No.3️⃣ to Volcano No.8️⃣. The No.3 Volcano is half mined, and the whole volcano shows a huge gap, with a plank road to the volcano top; The No.4 Volcano was thoroughly excavated and a volcano museum was built on the original site; The No.5 Volcano is the most complete one, with a perfectly preserved central eruption volcanic shape. The slope of the No.6 Volcano was all hollowed out, leaving only a core in the middle. The No.7 and No.8 volcanoes are cone-shaped.
💥BONUS: pretend you’re in Mars!
Yeap, just like my cover picture shows, Chinese had the amazing business idea to set up several trucks that provide astronaut suits 👩🚀 for rental! It costs ¥80 for an hour, but you can haggle the price (I paid 50). You can also have professional photographers take your picture there and they can give you smoke bombs to hold 😂 it’s really quite a hilarious scene, but a fun, unique, and tacky experience that you will only get in China!
📝 Sidenote: don’t let the pictures fool you. The climbs to the top of the volcanoes are *intense*. Somer are very steep on the way up and super slippery on the way down. Definitely a challenge!

The Ulan Hada Volcanic Geological Park covers an area of 65.9 square kilometers and is rich in the fourth volcanic geological site, a well-formed crater, and the north-east and north-west volcanic chains are like a string of pearls scattered on the green grassland. There are also geological relics such as jets, lava flows, and volcanic dams around them.
This is the only region in the southern margin of the Inner Mongolia Plateau that has been found in volcanic eruptions. The eruption scale is large and the eruption methods are diverse. It is a natural "window" for studying the deep structure and activity of the late Quaternary in the southern margin of the Mongolian Plateau. It is also of great significance for revealing the characteristics of neotectonic activity and early warning of volcanic disasters, and has important scientific value and scientific value.
Introduction card from the park
About the volcano:
The most famous is the No. 3 volcano (Northern Alchemy Furnace), and the 4th volcano (black brain pack) is about to be built. At present, only the No. 3 volcano has built a trail to reach the top of the volcano. The No. 5 volcano is steep. Although there is no good trail, we also saw an uncle climbing up in the wind... No. 1-2 volcano has nothing to look at. Head, so I can't find it on the map. The No. 6 volcano has been damaged and is still far away.
Generally speaking, there are No. 3 volcano, No. 5 volcano and No. 6 volcano.

There is only a toilet near Volcano No. 4, so it is recommended to plan ahead.

Ulanqab Volcano No. 6 today! Super fun!
Head west from Beijing and you'll reach Ulanqab!
Volcano No. 6🌋 Walk around it and you're done! 🥰😍
Volcano No. 5 next to it looks like Mount Fuji, and it's also super beautiful!
In the cold and snow, I embraced love and encountered romance.
I checked in at a place I've been longing to visit with my family and friends.
I'm super satisfied.
🌟🌟🌟A few suggestions:
① If you only choose one, go directly to Volcano No. 6. When you arrive, go to the first check-in point on the left in picture 7, then walk around it. Halfway around, you can see Volcano No. 5 (which looks like Mount Fuji)🌋 (picture 5), then return to see the big heart❤ check-in point (picture 9).
[The scenery in the pictures is what you see when you walk around the mountain!]
② We visited from 1–3 pm today. The sun came out, so it was relatively warm, and the photos were beautiful. But the temperature was -15°C, and it was very windy on the uphill road. I had a runny nose as soon as I took off my face mask. Make sure to keep warm, and prepare a mask, gloves, earmuffs, hat, scarf, and snow boots. Wear more clothes.
③ It's not tiring to walk the whole way, but it's windy. We had snowball fights, wrote in the snow, took photos, and checked in. It was so much fun! Winter volcanoes are also fun, so I recommend them! 🥂✨

Ulanqab Travel Guide: See Volcanoes and Snowfields 1.6 Hours from Beijing.
Ulanqab Travel Guide‼️ See Volcanoes and Snowfields 1.6 Hours from Beijing 🚄 🌟 After enjoying the autumn in Beijing, head west to Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia to see the winter snow ❄️
🌟 For just 💰400 per person, you can enjoy the freedom of seeing volcanoes 🌋, grasslands, and snow! Here is my one-day travel guide for your reference.
.
🚄 High-speed train: Ulanqab Station
(Beijing North-Ulanqab 💰151, arrives at 8:52)
.
🚗 Transportation
The round trip is 300 km. It is recommended to drive or rent a car/share a car. It is now the off-season, so renting a car costs about 💰400, and sharing a car costs 💰100 per person. The car will pick you up directly at the high-speed train station, which is very convenient even if you have a lot of luggage. I came alone, so the driver took good care of me, took a lot of beautiful photos for me, and brought us big lamb buns and salty milk tea 🧋. I love it so much!
.
📍 Route overview:
Ulanqab Station—Huitengxile Grassland (Huanghuagou Scenic Area)—Wulanhada Volcano (Mani Stone Pile—Rainbow Road)—Agui Temple—Happiness Square—Ulanqab Station
.
1️⃣ Huitengxile Grassland
The grass is now bare, so I came here with the expectation of seeing a desolate grassland. I didn't expect it to snow ❄️, which made me, a child from the south, so happy! The vast snowfield is so beautiful!
.
2️⃣ Wulanhada Volcano
There are volcanoes 🌋 No. 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
Don't miss the Mani Stone Pile 🪨 and Rainbow Road at the entrance of the volcano!
We went to Volcano No. 6 - South Alchemy Furnace. The mountain here is black, which makes for great photos! You can also hold a lamb 🐑 and take photos in a spacesuit or with colored smoke.
You can pick up agate at Volcanoes No. 7 and 8, and you can climb Volcanoes No. 3 and 5, but ⚠️ be careful.
.
3️⃣ Agui Temple
If you are interested, you can go there. We spent too much time taking photos earlier, so it was dark and we didn't go.
.
4️⃣ Happiness Square
There are many delicious foods and a lively atmosphere. You can come here to eat after returning to the city.
.
🌟 Tips
The journey is long, so you can bring your own food and water.
The temperature is low in winter, so keep warm. Hats 🧢, scarves 🧣, and sunglasses 🕶️ are essential.
There are fewer people now in the off-season, but the grassland and volcanoes are open and not affected.
I went to Inner Mongolia while traveling in Beijing, so I didn't return to Beijing that day. I stayed in the city for one day and went to Hohhot the next day 💰50.
If you are worried that a one-day trip is too rushed and you need accommodation, I recommend staying 📍 near Happiness Square, which is lively and not far from the station.
If you are from Beijing and want to take a one-day trip to the surrounding area, you can return the same day and save one night's accommodation.

From the imperial capital to the grassland: The weekend high-speed train flashes through Inner Mongolia in 1.5 hours.
Surrounding Beijing, Inner Mongolia is actually a good tourist place that should not be underestimated. I used to think that weekends in Hebei and Tianjin were all done. In fact, with the development and popularization of high-speed rail and its continuous speed up, it is now possible to travel slowly from Beijing to Inner Mongolia by high-speed rail. New fashion.
🕐️Day 1:
🚄Morning: At 7:20, I took the G2457 train from Beijing North Fifth Ring Road Qinghe Station. An hour and a half later, I arrived in Ulanqab at 8:50. Ulanqab·Inner Mongolia If you get on the train from Beijing North Railway Station (Xizhimen), it is the same train at 7:06.
🥣Go directly to a haggis shop and eat haggis + siomai + milk tea 🥤, an absolute Mongolian breakfast.
Afternoon: Ulanqab may be a small tourist city, but it has developed really well in recent years. It is surrounded by the famous Huitengxile Prairie in Inner Mongolia. The Huitengxile Prairie is really a big place with few people.
🌿You can take a small train on the grassland. Huanghuagou in autumn is beautiful, right in the Huitengxile Prairie.
You can also go to the Gulimaobao Volcanic Geological Relics and see what the basalt formed by the volcanic eruption 25 million years ago looks like!
Evening: When you return to the city, you must try the local Mongolian delicacies. Eat a big roasted lamb leg🐑, roasted lamb chops, and try the oatmeal noodles with scallions. The lamb in Inner Mongolia is fresh and very delicious.
🕐️Day 2:
Morning: You can go to the Ulan Hada Volcano Group🌋 and the Ulan Hada Volcano Geopark to see the most Mars-like landforms on Earth. From a distance, the black volcano looks like the guardian of the earth, majestic and mysterious. As you get closer, you can feel the ancient power surging. The sky is blue, contrasting with the black color of the volcano. Time seems to stand still, immersing people in the intertwining of history and nature.
Afternoon: 🚄For the return journey, you can choose the G2484 train from Ulanqab to Beijing on Sunday afternoon. You get on the train at 3:30 in the afternoon and arrive at Beijing Qinghe Station at 5 in the evening. This weekend is very fulfilling and leisurely.
💗Other tips:
It is very cheap to charter or rent a car for local travel, and it is also great to ski in Ulanqab in winter.

It takes 2 hours from Beijing to go directly to the same filming location of "Goodbye Lover 4"! .
"Goodbye Lover 4" is really good at choosing locations
The scenery of Inner Mongolia is so beautiful in photos
Departing from Beijing, it only takes two days on the weekend
You can enjoy Danxia landforms, volcanoes, and grasslands~

Can't go to Mars? Come to Ulan Hada Volcano instead!
The Ulan Hada Volcano in Inner Mongolia is the only Holocene volcano in the southern Mongolian Plateau that has erupted. It has a large scale of eruption, diverse eruption methods, well-preserved volcanoes, and basically no erosion. The volcanic barrier lake is developed and is a natural "volcano museum" with important scientific research and popular science value. The park has a rich volcanic landform landscape, with different types of volcanic cones, volcanic craters, lava terraces, lava flow landscapes, barrier lakes, canyons, etc.
The park is free to visit, and you can drive to any volcano. Volcanoes No. 6, No. 5, No. 4, and No. 3 are the most worth visiting!

Many people rent astronaut costumes to take photos here📷
There are also cute little lambs🐑

☄️The No. 5 volcano has been on the cover of National Geographic

The Yellow River flows through the grassland - Ulanqab.
Inner Mongolia has always been a place I yearn for, and it was indeed a worthwhile trip. Because I was traveling alone, I joined a one-day tour group for convenience. If conditions permit, I would recommend self-driving. I visited the Huitengxile Grassland and the Wulan Hada Volcano Geological Park. Both places are super photogenic. On the grassland, you can wear Mongolian robes, slide on the grass, feed lambs, do archery, ride horses and off-road vehicles, etc. At the volcano, you can take photos with astronaut suits, which are super photogenic. You can also go to see agate. The scenery along the way is stunning. You need to prepare a day to visit both places. I stayed near the train station for convenience. I won't recommend the place I stayed because I chose a place with poor accommodation conditions for the sake of saving money.

If you can't make it to Mars in this lifetime, why not visit a volcano instead?
Ulanqab Volcano Group, especially Ulan Hada Volcano Group, is located on the grassland of Chahar Youyi Houqi, Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a natural wonder that integrates grassland volcano group and lava landform and other geological landscapes. Here is a detailed introduction to Ulanqab Volcano Group:
Geographical location and scale:
Ulan Hada Volcano Group consists of more than 30 volcanoes of different sizes, covering an area of about 280 square kilometers (some say it covers an area of about 400 square kilometers).
Geological features:
The volcanoes in the volcano group have different shapes and are well preserved, making them important places for studying volcanic geology and landforms.
Experts have verified that the eruption time of these volcanoes is mainly concentrated in the late Pleistocene of the Quaternary (120,000 years ago) and the Holocene (10,000 years ago). They are the only volcanoes that have erupted in the Holocene found on the southern edge of the Mongolian Plateau.
Tourist resources:
Ulan Hada Volcano Group has become a popular tourist destination, attracting many tourists to come for summer vacation and photo shooting.
The volcano scenic area offers a variety of tourist experiences, such as self-driving tours, renting spacesuits for photo shooting, stargazing, horse riding, karting, etc.
The visitor center provides appointment management services to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of tourist activities.
Cultural influence:
Ulan Hada Volcano Group is not only a place to showcase natural beauty, but also an excellent place to learn about earth science and natural history.
With the development of tourism, the local homestay industry has also risen rapidly, providing tourists with more abundant accommodation and experience options.
In summary, Ulanqab Volcano Group attracts many tourists to explore with its unique geological landscape and rich tourist resources. It is not only a treasure trove of natural beauty, but also an important window to understand earth science and natural history.

🌟【Volcano Introduction】
There are 6 in total, 8-7-6-5-4-3, 3 for climbing the volcano, 6 for taking photos in spacesuits, 7 and 8 for picking agate (if there is any, it has been dug up)
🎈7 (North Mountain Peak) 8 (South Mountain Peak): These two volcanoes are pointed in shape and look like ordinary mountains. They look similar on the outside.
🎈6 (South Lian Dan Furnace): All black, the best place for photos, rent spacesuits, walk sheep, now it is forbidden to set off fireworks, so don't buy it, it's also very good to take a small red flag~
🎈5 (Middle Lian Dan Furnace): The volcano with the highest degree of preservation, the gravel road is difficult to walk, I didn't go down to play
🎈4 (Black Brain Bag): Half is a tourist service center, you can rest and eat, the mountain body is reddish brown, step-shaped, I think it is also very beautiful, and there is a big fake astronaut~
🎈3 (North Lian Dan Furnace): There are also many places to eat and rest. It is the only volcano with steps. You can walk to the top in ten minutes.
⚠️Precautions:
1️⃣You don't have to go to every volcano, you can choose a few volcanoes to play according to your time, but I personally think that 6 is a must-see😲
2️⃣Except for 3, don't climb any volcano easily, the roads are slippery
3️⃣You may need to bargain for renting spacesuits during the peak season. If you go this season, people will directly ask for 40-50. Remember to remind the boss to give shoes. My shoes are not provided🤣. Some shops rent spacesuits and directly give small red flags😄
4️⃣Remember to check the weather before going out. If it's windy, you can go to the bottom of the 6th volcano to take pictures. The wind will be slightly smaller.
5️⃣It's best to wear non-slip sneakers~
6️⃣There are usually food for sale at the foot of the volcano, and the price is okay
7️⃣It seems that you don't need to make an appointment at the visitor center during the off-season. We just went in directly, but it seems that you still need to make an appointment on holidays.
