A wonderful UNESCO world heritage day trip from Chongqing!
We took a tour from Chongqing, and drove the 1.5hrs to Dazu.
We visited a few sites, including Beishan, The Dazu museum and Baodingshan. There are other areas to see, though probably easier to get to with your own transport. I think it might be nice also to see some of the lesser visited areas to avoid the crowds!
The carvings and caves themselves are extensive, well-preserved and varied. There is enough to keep you occupied - and it might be interesting also to see the Dazu movie (though we weren't able to do so on our tour!).
It's quite a tiring day out, with lots of walking, and maybe some overload in terms of carvings and statues for some - but if you're interested in Buddhism & Taoism, Chinese history and these types of caves, it's well worth a trip!

AN UNDERRATED CAVE IN TANAY, RIZAL.
I didn’t plan to visit Tanay, Rizal but my itchy feet took me there.
My original plan was to travel to Romblon but since I was not able to catch the last ferry, I decided to go to the nearest natural area from Manila. I’m lucky to catch the last Van going to Tanay and found a place to stay at Ellen’s Balcony.
The next morning I took a tricycle going to Calinawan Cave and I was the only person who’s about to explore the place that time. Or maybe people now are not interested in caving adventures?
I don’t see a lot of posts about Calinawan cave and i think it’s underrated.
I was amazed by its history and the tour became even more fun because of my awesome tour guide Jhepoy Matalino. The cave was really enchanting! It’s one of Tanay’s hidden gems! 💎
My caving adventure won’t be memorable without him.
Have you been to this cave before? Share your experience!🦇

Spring pool in Moalboal!!
#timetotravel
Getting There - The best way to get there is by motorcycle because it's absolutely far and in a mountainous area. In Moalboal, you can rent a motorbike for a day for ₱300 ($6). From there go to the highway and drive down to the south and go on Santander-Barili-Toledo Road. Drive straight on the road for approximately 5 minutes and turn left into a side road in Barangay Balabagon. There is no conspicuous landmark or signage at the intersection when you make the turn, but the only landmark that can possibly be noticed is “BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH.” When you see it, make a left turn and go on to a side road that leads you to Barangay Busay. Keep going up, and you’ll see Busay’s Barangay hall and basketball court. Pass by them and keep going up until you see small white signage standing on the side of the street that says “This way to Busay Cave.”
Attractions - Visitors can enjoy swimming in a spring pool in the cave. It's not that deep but good enough for you to enjoy the water. The water is so clear and it's quite cold as well so you might feel freezing if you stay longer. Bat watching is also available but you need to have a guide if you go there you can ask the big guy who collects the entrance fee about the guide. Entrance Fee for Filipino citizens cost 12pesos and for Foreigners 25 pesos. It's not that popular yet for tourists so expect for more locals in the area.
Hotels - There are lots of hotels in Moalboal or Badian that you can choose. It's up to your preferences.
Food & Restaurants - Food and Drinks are available at Busay Cave. Some people have food stalls in the area.
Shopping - Moalboal has a shopping mall for your needs.

Malaysia’s colorful temples and caves
If you happen to be around Malaysia, make sure you do a stop by at Batu Caves. It took about a 30 minutes car ride from KL Twin Towers, approximately about 14km. There are no entrance fee, unless you are going inside with a car.
From the entrance you can see iconic huge statue, which called the Murugan Statue. Behind the statue, you also can see the colorful stairs behind which will lead you to the Batu Caves.
Before you enter the caves, make sure you are dressing appropriately as this is a temple, sacred place. Make sure your shoulders and legs are covered. Some people who were wearing tank tops were suggested to borrow a scarf for 15 RM, or if you are using shorts you might need another scarf too.
Not sure if you are fit enough to take the stairs? You can take photo around the colorful temples or just take the overall picture of the Batu Caves area.
Beware of your belongings as there are some monkeys swinging around and I saw them snatching food from the visitors around :P

272 colorful steps of Batu Caves!
Bath caves is located in Gombak, Selangor. The limestones forming the caves are more than 400 million years old. The cave housed a temple dedicated to lord Murugan and in 2018, the 272 steps haven been repainted colorfully.
It takes about 20 minutes to climb all the steps to the top and be sure not to bring any food or even plastic bags as there are a lot of monkeys. These monkeys will snatch any plastic bag they see as they think these are food bags. The caves are open from 6am daily so be sure to visit early in the morning to avoid the scorching sun!
Do not wear shorts when entering as this is a religious site.

Sireh cave COMPLEX
Located at baling Kedah the cave has spectacular and amazing view. One of the underrated caves in Malaysia. The local village guide was friendly and informative. There are several spot to take pictures inside the caves with colourful spot light. It take about 1-2hrs to explore the multi tiered connecting cave. I think local and state government should takes initiative to improve facilities. #caves #travelmalaysia

The Largest Cave In Thailand located in Pai
My few final days in Pai which is located up north of Changmai has a little secret cave, well not say little but actually one of the biggest cave in Thailand called the Thamlod Cave located at 107 1 Tham Lot, Pang Mapha District, Mae Hong Son 58150, Thailand which opens daily from 8am - 5pm.
As Thamlod Cave is a tourists destination, I recommend you to go there early as it tends to get quite a crowd especially after 9am, the highlight of this is the little raft that you sit on(scary tbh) to go into the cave and thereafter the stairs climbing to reach the cave Chambers. Of course do expect to meet many bats and birds(swifts) located inside of the this cave filled with limestone.
There after you can head to Banjapo village to have food overlooking the valley with an amazing scenic views. Its a really small village really, but its worth the visit especially if you are someone from the city. Its basically to understand cultural aspect and survivability of these quiet little villages

Deer & Lang Cave - Mulu National Park, MZV
A 3km almost flat walk on raised plank walks takes you to the Bat observatory (45 minutes to 1 hour).
Walk another 500m to reach one of the world’s largest cave passages, home to more than 3 million Wrinkle Lipped bats. A large number of swiftlets also roost in Deer Cave where the high cave ceilings (more than 100m in some places) provide a safe haven against predators.
Enjoy the sheer size of this limestone passage, an ancient riverbed, and see the force of water carving the scalloped walls.
Once you reach the green oasis of Garden of Eden you have walked 800m inside Deer Cave. Enjoy the unique shower head formations of Adam and Eve’s showers spouting columns of water 30m to the riverbed below.
Returning almost the same way, but with views from different angles, you will visit Lang Cave with wonderful limestone shawls, stalagmites and stalactites. Bats are easier to see in this smaller cave and you will be very close to the shimmering webs of thread worm larvae, another miniscule wonder of Mulu caves.
The tour is timed to coincide with the bat exodus which could start any time from after 17:00.
To walk to Deer cave to witness the Bat exodus is a FREE excursion, BUT you cannot enter Deer or Lang cave without payment beforehand and a guide (as is the normal procedure). Expect to be back at HQ by 18:30 to 19:00, should the bats fly.

Clearwater Cave - Mulu National Park, MZV
Cruise up the Melinau river in a longboat and visit a Penan longhouse & market at Batu Bungan.
2nd stop at Cave of the Winds where you have to negotiate a long ramp and a few stairs.
3rd stop Clearwater where the subterranean river emerges from the cliff face. Take 200 stairs to enter the cave to marvel at the Monophilia Pendula endemic to Mulu. Clearwater is one of the biggest cave systems in the world, measuring over 220km in length.
Swimming inside the cave is not permitted, however a cool down in the natural crystal-clear waters at the picnic deck is a must. Float with the fish and enjoy the rainforest around you.

Fairy Caves - Bau, KCH
These Caves have a lot of Natural History million years it is beyond description by a ordinary character I have seen caves here in the Deep South East Land of Auz and these are A Class Of their Own.
The fascinations will never cease to amaze those who love and value the formations of Earth and its Caves a Natural Wonder that we still don't understand and most men cannot build such a natural wonder that keeps me spellbound.
Amazing cave to explore and discover!! Easy to access cave with some climbing but becareful of the slippery surface.. many bats inside with a breathtaking view!
Bring a head torch to get through darker areas with your hands free.
Fairy caves is 40 minutes drive from Kuching and one might say it’s easy access as you can hire GrabCars anytime. Do go & experience💕

The Limestone Cave In Sydney
Do you know that there is a limestone cave located in Sydney called Jenolan Cave and is quite a popular attraction.
Located at 4655 Jenolan Caves Rd, Jenolan NSW 2790, this is after the blue mountains national park about a 2 hours drive away due to the mountain regions where the roads get quite winding.
Jenolan caves is open everyday from 9.30am except Mondays and Tuesday where this is one of the largest cave in Australia where it has been here for years. There are also tours to the cave if you wish to have guides explaining on the history and how the formations come about.
If you think that driving back to Sydney is far, there are also several hotels located around jenolan, like little cosy cottages and cabins to spend the night after a long drive.

The Batu Cave Touring Experience
Batu Caves is popular among both locals and tourists with almost 5000 visitors in a single day. The popularity of this is due to the 272 steps climb which can be gruelling to many as there are alot of Elderlies come to pay their respect in this Hindu Temple. Do take your time to climb these steps as there is no time limit in this temple, and it is also told by many locals to actually come here before the sunrise to catch a glimpse of the rising sun on the morning which will be spectacular at the top of the limestone cave.
When at the top, you will see 2 shrines, one located at the entrance of the top of the step and another further in with another few more steps to climb. For those who come here to have a view of the lime stone, do remember to look up to see the beauty of mother nature that created such lovely work of art on this Cave.
Apart from the normal shrine and limestone cave there are also tour into the dark caves that can last for an hour or 2, but of course these requires extra budget as these are chargeable.

Sung Sot(Surprise) Cave @ Ha Long Bay
When visiting Ha Long Bay, drop by Sung Sot Cave for a visit, this is a tourists attraction offered by many tours.
This Cave popularity has increased as it is one of the most beautiful caves found in Ha Long Bay and is a highlight when coming to this area. Cades Coves - Smoky Mountains
Cade’s Cove is the most visited area of the Smoky Mountains. Roughly 31 miles away from the city of Pigeon Forge, Cade’s Cove is in the 6,800-acre valley known for its picturesque landscapes.
European settlers settled here in the early 1800s, contributing to why Cade’s Cove has the largest variety of historic buildings in the entire national park. As you make your way through the area, you can see historic structures like restored churches, old grist mills and pioneer log cabins. The enriched history of Cade’s Cove has left its lasting mark with its presence still felt today. There are multiple small big trails one can take. There are many abundant places/cabins which were once residential area but now left unoccupied. Drive is beautiful and you can many bears on the way. One of the best thing to do in Smokies. #cadescove #caves #scenary #drive
Challenging Climb to Batu Caves
I’ve seen photos of this tourist attraction from acquaintances and found it fascinating. So, when I had the opportunity, I stayed in KL over the weekend after our training. This is one of the places I visited during that very short trip - pre-pandemic.
At first, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to reach the caves since it was very hot and I am really not in the pink of health. However, the saying “if there’s a will, there’s a way” was indeed true ;) I paced myself, stopping/resting once in a while, until I conquered climbing the over 200 steps of the stairs leading to it.
I had a great time admiring and taking pictures of the different statues, shrines and lime formations. I was so tired and it was so hot, so I really didn’t go inside further into the inner chambers. I backed out immediately after seeing another flight of stairs and honestly, I was afraid of the monkeys and the stories I’ve heard of their mischiefs! Hahaha! Nevertheless, this is still one experience I’d never forget and am glad I got to see the cave personally.

Texas Hill Country
Set in a secluded bend of the Blanco River, heavy limestone boulders mark the entrance to the mystical Hill Country Wine Cave. The unassuming exterior belies the refined beauty of the space within. Once inside, any assumptions about damp and dark caves dissipates: a study of white oak, both raw and ebonized, mixes with vertical grain Douglas fir to panel the walls and dropped ceilings, creating a warm contrast to the cool stone.

A fab dog walk in Derby!!
Who knew we had such a unique and wonderful dog walk right on doorsteps. For a different place to trek around with your little pooch I would highly recommend a walk to the Anchor Church Caves in Derby. It was lovely scenic walk along the canal to this one of a kind monument steeped with such history. We did feel a bit like Indiana Jones having to push ourselves through the bushes (there is an easier route over the fields we discovered on the way back). Our dog loved exploring this new area with us.

Experience one of the largest natural cave entrances in the Eastern U.S.
Lost River Cave, Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA
Lost River Cave is a 7 mile cave system. The river originates outside of the cave and flows into it. The cave contains one of the largest natural entrances in the Eastern U.S. Go book a 45 minute boat tour with a guided walk along the river’s edge to learn about the history of the cave and its surroundings. You will learn so much and get to see the blue hole(it was more green the day we went because all of the sediments coming up from the rain) after that you will arrive at the massive cave entrance where you board the boat. The cave is gorgeous and at the beginning to get in, you have to duck your head and sit pretty far down in the boat and dunk as to not hit your head before it opens up. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and such a joy. She made lots of jokes and answered all of our questions. We very much enjoyed learning about the history and fun facts of the cave. We also got to see two little bats hanging out in there plus I even got a drop on my head and my leg from the water dripping down which the guide said was a lucky kiss from the cave! The tour is fairly short but perfect for first timers to get an experience of what it's like being in a cave. The grounds are well kept with asphalt paths most of the way as well as a little park area for kids to play and alot of painted murals for fun photo ops.

Western Ohio’s tallest known waterfall; Charleston Falls is a must see!
Charleston Falls Preserve, Ohio, MI, USA
The tallest falls in Ohio originates from a small underground spring, the stream creating the falls plummets almost 40 feet into a small gorge. The hike through the woods is relatively short and it's on a trail through a beautiful wooded area on gravel and is well maintained. The waterfall was gorgeous and did not disappoint, you could see it from an observation deck at the bottom and also from at the top. We were suprised that there was a small limestone cave that you could see the hole of and was able to climb up alittle into the entrance hole but you could not go all the way through as it's fairly small and is filled with water. All of the rock formations surrounding the falls are so pretty and we followed them along a trail which then lead us to top of the creek where there's a wooden bridge and you can wander down into the water. There were several rocks to step on and cross and it was such a picturesque area. It was my children's favorite part of the park because they got to put their boats in the water and send them down stream a couple of times. It was the perfect park for a family adventure!
