Lima, Peru

Lima extends far beyond its original site in Spain at the point where it can be bridged by the Rímac River. Flowing swiftly from the high Andes, the Rímac River has carved out a flat-topped alluvial cone, where early Spanish conquistadors established their settlements. Because nearly all of the coastal plain in central Peru is composed of unconsolidated fluvioglacial deposits, erosion of cliffs and earthquakes are constant threats. In expanding from its original location, the city has incorporated numerous hills and valleys into its structure that are also susceptible to earthquakes and flash floods. One of Lima's most striking characteristics is the barren, unvegetated desert that surrounds it on all sides; the grayish-yellow sands support little plant or animal life, except where water has been artificially supplied.
Although Lima is located in a tropical latitude, the cold Peru (also called Humboldt) Current offshore helps produce a temperate climate year-round. Average temperatures range from 60–64 °F (16–18 °C) in the winter months from May to November and 70–80 °F (21–27 °C) in the summer months from December to April. Cooling coastal air masses produce thick cloud cover throughout the winter, and garúa (dense sea fog) often rolls in and blankets the city area. Precipitation, which rarely exceeds 2 inches (50 mm) per year, is mostly due to condensation of garúa. Lima is perhaps best described as a city that is cold and humid in the winter and hot and humid in the summer.
Peru - A hiking Paradise
#2024wish Trekking in Peru has always been on top of my list. Being a mountain and nature lover, the Andes are a dream for all of those who love adventure and want to detach from the everyday noice and connect with the peaceful sounds of nature.
My husband and I had the privilege of spending one month in Peru, hiking, climbing and sightseeing. The highlight for us was an 8 day trek in the Cordillera Huayhuash. The scenery is truly and literally breathtaking as you find yourself trekking above 3,000m above sea level most of the time, and you can reach 5,200 m on some of the days.
Sleeping under a bed of stars and camping in the wild was special. It was worth not having a shower and smelling rotten for 8 days 😂, and would do it all over again!
My #2024wish is to visit and hike in China.

🇵🇪 Lima 🇵🇪 - the GASTRONOMICAL capital!
Lima, the capital city of Peru, offers a blend of history, culture, and gastronomy. The city's colonial architecture, museums, and ancient ruins are a sight to behold. The historic Plaza de Armas is home to many famous sights and restaurants.
Lima is known for its culinary scene, which is a fusion of different cultures. There are some Japanese-Peruvian restaurants, Peruvian-style Chinese restaurants which you can only find in Peru. Don’t forget to try out ceviche! It is an appetizer with raw fish and salmon with tiger’s milk! It is a little sour which is perfect to increase our appetite! The Plaza de Armas is the best place to try.
