The Notre Dame Basilica of Montreal !

where to go?
I had the chance to visit this magnificent basilica on a cold autumn day. It is considered to be one of Canada’s most significant landmarks.
Visiting Notre-Dame Basilica in the Canadian french-speaking city of Montreal is a must for its breathtaking Gothic architecture, stunning stained glass windows, and rich history. The intricate interior, featuring a deep-blue ceiling adorned with golden stars, evokes a sense of wonder and spirituality.
Whether for religious reasons or as a cultural experience, it offers a serene escape within the bustling city. This iconic landmark showcases Montreal's unique blend of old-world charm and modern vibrancy.
Highly recommended!
Notre-Dame Basilica
This majestic building will get your heart racing with its beauty. Comparable to the Notre-Dame in Paris, this church is one a must-see attraction in North America. The ticket is affordable and the line moves fast, even in Covid times. You can light up a candle or listen to the service. There is a small museum upstairs. The gift shop was closed when I visited in summer 2022.#montreal #canada #travelinspiration #famouschurches #notredame

The perfect combination of maple🍁 and snow❄️ in Montreal🇨🇦
#fallingseason
Canada is certainly a great place to travel in Autumn as maples are everywhere! I traveled to Montreal, the largest, French-speaking city of the Quebec province in late October. I was lucky enough to see the first snow in Montreal in the Fall! Maple and snow are such a perfect match! My impression of this combination was even stronger when I went to the Mont-Royal, an iconic mountain where you can embrace the beauty of nature in Montreal. Snowflakes were fluttering in the air, falling onto the maple trees, adding a white color to the red, orange, and yellow. The scenery was picturesque!
In addition, the Chalet du Mont-Royal, located on top of the Mont-Royal, is where you can observe the cityscape and the skyline of Montreal. Upon my arrival, the snowy city view disappointed me as I could hardly identify even the nearest architecture. But thankfully, after it stopped snowing, the stunning view became clear! The photos are evidence for comparison. Hooray!

An afternoon in Chinatown
Chinatown Montreal is a great place to get authentic Asian food. You'll be spoiled with choices, ranging from Cantonese Dim Sum to Vietnamese pho. The restaurants there mainly cater to an older Asian population, so you know the food is quite authentic. Additionally, it's also a great place to buy some Asian groceries, which may not be available in other supermarkets. Take a stroll inside one of the many supermarkets, you'll be rewarded with exotic produce!
Chinatown is also a great place to stroll around. It isn't as big and busy as many of its counterparts but still contains a few monument such as the paifang at the entrances, which makes for a nice picture.
There's also a park that's fashioned in a Chinese style garden. Many older residents like to gather there to play board games.
Overall, a walk through Chinatown will transport you momentarily to Asia. Spend a morning or afternoon there for a trip without leaving Montreal!

Outdoor winter fun
Île Bizard is a lovely island located right next to Montreal island. It's a mostly residential area but there is also a nature park which is lovely to stroll/jog in, especially in winter.
The park is not very large but the landscape is varied and it is very enjoyable to walk around.
There is a parking around the beach area, but it is chargeable. If you don't mind walking a good 30 mins in the woods (around 50 mins return) then you can park for free in the residential area.
The beach area is especially spectacular in winter ad the water is frozen over and you can walk over it; this is an especially special experience. A word of caution though, just make sure the ice is hard enough to support your weight. The area is very calm and in winter there is a very calming quietness to the are, especially when you're alone! The overall landscape is lovely to capture in pictures so it's a great place for both great pictures and light exercise. Dress warmly though as it can get cold once you're outdoors; always better warm than sorry!
