ไป กับ ตอง - Go with Tong MBK Center - Bangkok
MBK Center in Bangkok is one of the city’s most popular shopping destinations. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of shops and merchandise available. From electronics to souvenirs, cosmetics to clothing, there was something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed browsing through the small vendors selling unique accessories and handmade crafts.
It is important to know that vendors will give you always higher prices, so keep in mind to use your bargaining skills in every shop.
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the MBK Center for anyone looking for a fun shopping experience in Bangkok.

Food shopping at Or Tor Kor Market
Or Tor Kor Market
Address - 101 Kamphaeng Phet Rd, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900, Thailand
Highlights - wide variety of Thai snacks & delicacies
Experience Rating - 🌟🌟🌟🌟 out of 5
We took a taxi to go to this market but if you are more adventurous, you can take the MRT. This is opposite the very famous Chatuchak Weekend Market.
This indoor market boasts of a wide range of fresh produce & food, packed snacks and a food court where you can sample all the great local dishes. We went there mainly to buy snacks to take home. We still had other places to go to so we didn’t have extra time to eat there - perhaps next time… and also when the Covid threat subsides. This place is also clean and well-maintained.
I have no basis for comparison in terms of their pricing so I cannot comment on that. We did, however, managed to buy dried fruits and the crispy pork snacks which are cheaper there than in the grocery we went to. One should also try their pork sausages on stick.
We went here in 2019 before Covid hit. I know this market is still open but am not aware of the safety protocols implemented inside. I hope to visit again so I can share latest information with all of you. But, if you happen to travel to Bangkok, make sure you visit this place.

Memphis, Tennessee
Ballet Memphis had outgrown its current space and wished to move from a suburban location to a performing-arts district undergoing revitalization in Memphis. The Company strives to perform an inclusive message about culture and arts and to uplift the community through transparency, connectivity, and education.
.
The new, civic-oriented facility is an extension of the Company’s mission. With large windows and public courtyards, the building contributes to the already thriving urban district. Formerly a hotel with parking in the front, the new site design inverts the original scheme. The building is designed to engage the public in movement, culture, and connection to the community. It houses rehearsal space for the professional company, a dance school for over 200 children, and community dance and pilates classes. The largest rehearsal studio also doubles as a performance venue.
.
The courtyard spaces offer opportunities for the community to engage with the school, and also break the scale of the large building down to suit the context. The exterior form, composed of layers of glass, perforated copper, and volumes of contrasting metal evokes the character of a music box. Gauzy screens and courtyards that penetrate the building mass both mask and reveal the activity of dancers within. Warm and neutral materials alongside cool colors are also used to frame and display activity and the dancers.
.
Dance and architecture share a focus on movement, space and time. Celebrating these disciplines, through this civic project, enhances its growing entertainment district and the adjacent residential neighborhoods.

Surin, Thailand
While most museums prioritize the display of objects, the Elephant Museum also aims to convey the voice of the Kui and their elephants; to communicate the unique familial bonds between them and to transmit the devastating impacts of habitat destruction.
The building’s distinct footprint and profile stand out on the barren site. Sloping and interlocking in an almost labyrinthine layout, the museum’s curved walls vary in height, their spacing seems to be scaled to the size of a Thai elephant. The museum architecturally translates the spatial rhythms of the elephants lives, as they go from the shelter of their homes to the forested pathways that lead to bathing rivers, and then to muddy dirt playgrounds. Unique courtyard spaces open off of the four exhibition galleries, each distinct in shape and size. Some contain little ponds while others are enlivened by reddish earth.
A material perspective is not inconsequential. The museum is built from over 480,0000 handmade clay bricks, fired locally using a longstanding technique. The construction process bolstered the local economy, providing income and jobs, also valorizing the material. In this sense, the material decision reinforce the raison d’etre of the Elephant Museum: it is meant to “empower the Kui, the elephants, and the people of Surin..[e]ncouraging them to take pride in their heritage, and restoring the dignity of their beloved elephants once again.

Galleria, South Korea
Taking on a geological appearance, the Galleria was designed with a textured mosaic stone facade to evoke natural themes — the idea was inspired by the nearby park and its features. Like a “sculpted stone emerging from the ground,” the building is a visual landmark and focal point for the surrounding area. The mosaic stone was created using pixelated triangles to give the cube form of the building a textured pattern. The exterior stone panels were coordinated with DAEHYE Interior Design & Architecture. OMA also worked with 3DPRIYOL, façade consultant VS-A, and smart node curtain wall consultant Withworks to bring the ambitious façade of the Galleria to life.
With the aim of introducing a new element to the department store typology, the team created an “excavated public route” that emerges from the stone volume. This clear addition was made to connect retail and cultural activities, in addition to linking the roof garden with the public sidewalk. The design team noted that the public route uses multifaceted glass to contrast with the opacity of the stone. Through this glass, retail and cultural activities inside are revealed to the city’s passers-by, while visitors in the interior acquire new vantage points and views to experience Gwanggyo.

Transforming an urban wasteland
Transforming an urban wasteland, HEITO 1909 is an exciting new park that draws on the haunting aesthetic of historical industrial decay. The first and only of its kind in Taiwan, this unique preservation and adaptive reuse project endeavored to identify and recover the remaining structures of a turn-of-the-century factory. Two underground industrial spaces and five wastewater basins were in ruin; they now act like microscopes of the city’s history, revealing the sugar industry's role in urban life, from the colonial era through World War II to the present day.

SAVOURY THAI SALADS
Thai flavors are vibrant and fresh. These dishes burst with flavor, are low in fat, and are naturally low in calories, thanks to a lovely mix of herbs, spices, and the greenest of fruit. In zesty lemon dressings or creamy coconut sauces, fruits like grapefruit, mango, and papaya mingle with chicken, beef, crab, or shrimp. These were only some of the Thai salads that made my tastebuds happy.
One of the famous Thai salad is the Som Tam or the Green Papaya Salad. In most parts of Thailand, this salad is popular. Slightly sour from the green papaya, fiery from the chile pepper, salty from the shrimp paste and fish sauce, and sweet from the honey, all of these flavors combine to create a one-of-a-kind and lovely salad. This salad is nutrient-dense, high in fiber, and low in calories, and it can be turned vegan by omitting the fish sauce from the dressing.
Other famous Thai salads are Thai Mango Chicken Salad, Thai Crab Salad with Coconut-Lime Dressing, Thai Fruit Salad With Coconut-Lime Dressing, Low-Carb Crispy Pad Thai Noodle Salad, and Larb Gai (Thai Chicken Salad).

TOM YUM SO YUM
Thai tom yum goong is one of the most well-known Thai dishes, and one of the best soups in the world, in my opinion.
The tastes of lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, fresh Thai chilies, and fresh lime juice, which all combine to make a healthful and calming soup that will light up your taste buds, are what I enjoy most about tom yum goong.
The term Tom Yum comes from two Thai words: "Tom" means "to boil," and "Yum" means "to combine spicy and sour flavors."
In Thailand, Tom Yum Soup comes in a variety of flavors. Despite this, the most popular form of this famous recipe is known as Tom Yum Goong or Tom Yum Kung. Both Goong and Kung are terms for shrimp or prawns. So the name literally translates to "Boiling Hot and Sour Shrimp Soup."

COLOURFUL & FLAVOURFUL THAI CUISINE
Thai cuisine is a big (and crucial) element of any trip to Bangkok or Thailand. Thai cuisine is popular all over the world because of its unusual flavors and smells. A stroll through the city's alleyways frequently leads to a stop at a food stall, where you may sample skewered meats, fried rice, noodles, and spicy soups for relatively low costs.
If you want a more relaxed eating experience, Bangkok boasts a plethora of restaurants that provide a wide range of traditional Thai dishes.

THAI GRILLED PORK SKEWERS ~ MOO PING
Price: 5 - 12 baht each
Have you ever been walking through Bangkok's streets and smell a savoury and aromatic grilled pork?
Oh yes, I am not alone for that smell of moo ping always lure me to grab a stick or three.
Known as moo ping in Thailand, these grilled pork skewers are a popular street dish. Thin slices of fatty pork butt are marinated, skewered, and grilled over charcoal. As the pork cooks, it's coated with unsweetened coconut cream to keep it moist and add a creamy richness to counteract the marinade's fish sauce punch.
Moo Ping merchants sell all day, but they are most active in the early and late afternoon. I'd have it for breakfast or as a snack in the afternoon. Not because they are my favorite dish, but because I can't stand the smell of them being prepared by the vendor!

MACAQUES ALL AROUND THE CITY
More of the macaques! 🐵🙈🙉🙊The monkeys can be spotted riding on the tops of trucks, partying on top of power lines, frolicking on balconies, and generally making a nuisance of themselves.
The quiet city of Lopburi, around 150 kilometers from Thailand's busy Bangkok, is home to the lesser-known yet intriguing Prasat Sam Yot temple ruins. It is the region's primate inhabitants who are famous, not the region's history or architecture. It is infected with long-tailed macaques, for lack of a better phrase. These little primates have become accustomed to humans and are unconcerned by the activity surrounding them, having been fed by both locals and visitors. #ancienttomb #lopburi

Pattaya Over Payers:
Many foreign tourists make the mistake of paying too much for anything and everything when they go to Thailand. This especially holds true in Pattaya.
The main problem is that they tend to compare the prices of hotels, food, drink and anything else to what it costs back in their hometown. This can be costly for you and for the rest of the tourists. Just because you are on vacation and are a bit loose with your money, don’t just give away.

Walking street of Pattaya
Walking Street Pattaya is Thailand's largest and busiest party district, with just a few of Bangkok's top spots exceeding it for sheer volume and variety. Almost every structure along its length is a nightclub, go-go bar, beer bar, or restaurant, stretching a full kilometer from its high-tech gateway at the Beach Road end to the Bali Hai Plaza end.
The amazing thing about Pattaya Walking Street is that there is so much to see and do, and it is so densely packed, that you could spend every night for a week there and still discover new locations.

Impressive bridge to see
The Rama VIII Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in Bangkok, Thailand, that spans the Chao Phraya River. It was designed to relieve traffic congestion on the Phra Pinklao Bridge, which is nearby. From 1999 to 2002, the bridge was under construction.
This renowned single tower, cable-supported bridge served as our guide in Bangkok during our stay. It was close to our hotel, so we knew we were almost home when it came into view while we were out and about. From our hotel room, it was also visible. We drove over it on tours as we entered and exited the city, and we also cruised beneath it on a Chao Phraya River cruise.
The gold/orange metal structure on top of the tower took on the appearance of a flame at night.
Although not a true destination, it is a prominent element of Bangkok's skyline.

Beijing, China
Located on Lize Road in southwest Beijing, Leeza SOHO tower anchors the new Fengtai business district - a growing financial and transport hub between the city centre and the recently opened Beijing Daxing International Airport to the south. The new business district is integral to Beijing’s multi-modal urban plan to accommodate growth without impacting existing infrastructure networks in the centre of the city.
.
This 45-storey 172,800m² tower responds to demand from small and medium-sized businesses in Beijing for flexible and efficient Grade A office space.
.
Adjacent to the business district’s rail station at the intersection of five new lines currently under construction on Beijing’s Subway network, Leeza SOHO’s site is diagonally dissected by an underground subway service tunnel.
.
Straddling this tunnel, the tower’s design divides its volume into two halves enclosed by a single facade shell. The emerging space between these two halves extends the full height of the tower, creating the world’s tallest atrium at 194.15m which rotates through the building as the tower rises to realign the upper floors with Lize road to the north.

MANGO & STICKY RICE (Khao Niao Mamuang
Price: 40 baht and up
Mango and Sticky Rice (Khao Niao Mamuang) is a traditional Thai dish. The most well-known Thai dessert worldwide.
While fresh mango is great on its own, the Mango Sticky Rice is unstoppable when paired with coconut sticky rice, drizzles of coconut syrup, and sprinkles of toasted mung beans. Sweet, salty, and all-around delectable. The balance of saltiness in Mango Sticky Rice comes from the sticky rice base being steeped in coconut milk, sugar, and salt before being steamed in pandan leaves. Before adding the coconut syrup and mung beans, the freshly cut delicious mango is poured on top (or occasional sesame seeds).
Mango Sticky Rice is best found in food courts and, on rare occasions, street food booths in Bangkok. The cost varies, but plan to pay at least 40 Baht.

KANOM CHOP MAK!
Kanom Beuang or Thai Crepes
I love this kanom so much!
These crepes are a delicious sweet dessert, and the texture of the soft and juicy stuffing contrasts nicely with the crispy golden brown crepe. Hmmmmm. I want to eat more. 😋😋😋😋😋😋
Auntie here or P' as Thais called someone older, offered three choices of crepes, egg with sausage crepe and quail eggs in crepe for just ฿10 and my fave which catches my palates was the egg cream crepe.
#thaisteetfood🇨🇷
P' is making a second serving of crepe with egg cream. This cream is almost similar to our leche flan 🍮 or cream custard. Oh so yummy!
Take note this is only ฿5 baht.

One of the thing I missed most about #thailand is definitely the #thailandmarkets . During our trip to #huahin , we went to #cicadamarket and #tamarindmarket located right next to each other.
Tamarind Market only open at the end of the week; there’s a stage with live music, tables and chairs, and dozens of food and drink stalls.
Cicada Market is more of a touristy market, there’s little choice of food stall and a little pricey compared to Tamarind which is located right next to it. There’s a lot of hand craft souvenirs though.
