Apart from the usual popular hiking spots, I also enjoy visiting different temples to absorb the spiritual energy. Tsing Chung Koon offers a unique experience. Firstly, it is not far from Tuen Mun city center, making it easily accessible. The entrance is free, and the design is distinctive. The environment is tranquil, allowing visitors to take photos at their leisure and appreciate the historical architecture and relics. If you get hungry, there is also a vegetarian restaurant to fill your stomach. A day spent wandering, looking around, and taking photos can be very refreshing.
The flowers at Chengtian Temple are blooming, but not many.
I was strolling around Quanzhou during the Spring Festival holiday and passed by Chengtian Temple, so I went in for a walk.
I accidentally discovered that the flowers in the temple were blooming. There were not many of them, but they were full of spring.
Many pilgrims burn incense devoutly, and the scent of incense wafts throughout the temple, bringing a sense of tranquility and peace of mind.

Shodatsuji Temple
#1月好去地方2025
Legend has it that King Ku Na invited Sumana Thera, a high monk from Sukhothai, to Chiang Mai to give lectures with the Sri Lankan Bible, and promised to build a temple in the royal garden for him to live in. This temple is the Suan Ta Temple we see today; it was completed in 1371, and Sumana Thera became the first abbot of the temple.
The main monastery of Wat Suan Tak and the large Buddha statue in it were rebuilt in 1932 (some say 1930) by Khru Ba Srivichai, the most famous monk in northern Thailand. Khru Ba Srivichai also mobilized people to build a mountain road to Wat Suthep, and became the most respected monk in Chiang Mai. His urn is placed in a small white pagoda behind the main monastery. Because he was born in the year of the tiger, the pagoda is surrounded by 8 stone tiger sculptures. To the west of the main monastery are many pagodas housing the ashes of Chiang Mai royal family members, one of whom is Princess Dararatsmee, who married King Rama V of Bangkok.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, also known as Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchaworawihan, is one of the most famous temples in Chiang Mai. It is often referred to as the Twin Dragon Temple because of the two dragon sculptures flanking the stairs leading up to the temple. The most spectacular feature of the temple is the 22-meter-high golden stupa, which is considered a sacred site. Inside the stupa are relics of the Buddha brought to Thailand by a high-ranking monk from Sri Lanka. In front of the temple stands a white elephant statue, symbolizing the elephant that carried the relics through the jungle to Thailand. The temple is a popular attraction, with many visitors even at night. You can either climb the 306 steps to the temple or pay 20 baht to take the cable car. The entrance fee is 30 baht.
From the over 1,000-meter-high Doi Suthep Mountain, you can overlook the entire city of Chiang Mai. The old town is on the left with concentrated orange lights, while the airport is on the right with yellow lights. The night view is nice but not breathtaking. The golden stupa is quite striking under the night lights, but it didn't meet my high expectations. Perhaps my anticipation was too high, so I didn't feel the 'wow' factor. For me, Wat Chedi Luang at dusk was more impressive. Although I have no religious beliefs, I spent 40 minutes on the bumpy mountain road to get here. I followed the local custom of circling the stupa three times clockwise, praying for the health of my elderly parents, hoping they won't suffer from illness.

Chengtian Zen Temple: A Serene and Tranquil Temple in the Bustling City of Quanzhou
Quanzhou is an open and inclusive city where various religious beliefs find their place. The city is dotted with temples, Taoist temples, ancestral halls, and more. Amidst this bustling city, the serene Chengtian Zen Temple might not stand out at first glance.
Also known as Yuetai Temple, Chengtian Zen Temple is one of the many temples in Quanzhou. Although it is not as famous as Kaiyuan Temple, it is an ancient temple with a history of over a thousand years. Located in the ancient city area, it has witnessed the development and changes of Quanzhou over time and is now a well-known temple in the city.
The temple covers a large area with halls and pavilions scattered throughout. It is a place of thriving incense and numerous devotees. Many large trees are planted within the temple, especially the ancient banyan tree in front of the main hall. The curling smoke from the incense burner, the low chanting of monks from the inner hall, and the devout prayers of believers at the entrance create a serene atmosphere. Standing under the banyan tree, one can feel the calming effect of the Buddhist chants and incense, bringing great peace to a restless heart.

Capture the scenes from Japanese dramas! Visit Entoku-ji Temple in Kyoto!
You may not have heard of Entoku-ji, but you must have heard of Kiyomizu-dera! Entoku-ji is a nationally designated scenic spot located near Kiyomizu-dera. After visiting Kiyomizu-dera in the morning, I passed by Entoku-ji and decided to go in because it was very peaceful.
Entoku-ji is actually a small temple of Kodaiji, where Toyotomi Hideyoshi's wife, Kita no Mandokoro Nene, spent her later years. You can see traces of Nene's life, such as the chozubachi (water basin), built in 1606. Kodaiji is also nearby and can be visited together.
The dry landscape garden in the northern courtyard showcases Momoyama period culture, with a strolling pond garden structure. The famous tea master, Kobori Enshu, also participated in the garden's construction. This place was also visited by many daimyo and monks of that time.
Sitting in these gardens, I felt very peaceful. While sitting for a long time, three Japanese ladies arrived. Before I left, I took pictures of the garden. The scene of them sitting and chatting felt like a Japanese drama! I also copied a few lines of sutras. It was truly a peaceful day!
Entoku-ji and Kodaiji combined ticket: 900 yen (includes a small art museum ticket, also nearby)
Yuantong Zen Temple in Zhonghe, New Taipei City
Yuantong Zen Temple is a historic Buddhist temple located in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City. It was founded in 1926 and took 51 years to complete. The temple is situated on Baijie Mountain at an altitude of 180 meters, offering a majestic view of Guanyin Mountain in Wugu. The temple features pure Buddhist architectural style, using stones and sand from the mountain, and incorporates elements of Tang and Japanese styles, showcasing Taiwan's history and culture. Upon climbing the steps in front of the temple and passing two large statues of lions and elephants, you can directly see the grand statue of Maitreya Buddha, who gazes benevolently over the Taipei Basin. The plaque above bears the inscription 'Delight All Hearts.' Inside the temple, Shakyamuni Buddha is enshrined. Additionally, there are a library, bell tower, wall carvings, and other buildings and artworks worth admiring. However, like many of Taiwan's mountain areas, the serene environment is sometimes disturbed by the loud karaoke sounds from nearby. Moreover, the numerous new apartment buildings constructed on the mountain over the past 20 years have significantly diminished the scenic beauty.
