🇯🇵 Complete guide to the fun and shopping at Kyoto’s “Nintendo Museum”! Inherit classics and actively innovate!
#2024 TRAVEL REVIEW #Must go in this life #Kyoto #Museum #Mario #Game
🎴This museum not only displays the footprints of Nintendo’s century-old history, but also has a rich and diverse interactive experience area! The "Nintendo Kokura Factory" was established in 1969. It was once the production base for Hanafuda, trading cards and early game consoles. In 2016, the production tasks were transferred to the new factory, and we began to discuss how to make good use of this building, which played a decisive role in the development history of Nintendo. Later, it was planned to be the Nintendo Museum that is about to open now. As a Nintendo fan since childhood, of course I have to make a pilgrimage!
🎴The first step is to buy a ticket! You need to register on the official website three months in advance, so you plan to visit in December and register before the end of September, and pay on the official website after the ticket purchase results are announced (the ticket price is 3300 yen), otherwise the ticket will be cancelled! If you really forget, tickets will be released the day before, so you can try your luck on the official website. Remember to bring your ID when entering!
🎴A very important point! Remember to log in with your official Nintendo account when buying tickets and draw a cute portrait of yourself! Make your ticket unique~
🎴 Next is transportation. The Nintendo Museum is located at Kokura Station. If you come from Kyoto Station, take the Kintetsu Kyoto Line from "Kintetsu Kyoto Station" towards Nara. Don't be like me and can't find it in a JR station. car. Kokura Station is quite simple. On the way back, I tried to catch a taxi on the road but there were no taxis at all.
🎴After entering the Nintendo Museum, the first thing you see at the door is the classic Super Mario scene, and Nintendo elements can be seen everywhere, perfect score for cuteness! What few people notice is that there is a signature of Mario's father "Miyamoto" on the wall after entering the museum. Big fans must take a photo. Thank you for bringing so many fun games to this world!
🎴The excitement begins when you enter the exhibition hall on the second floor. Here is the complete history of Nintendo's development, from its original products, Hanafuda, toys, to previous generations of consoles and games. You can’t take pictures in this building, so it’s hard to convey my feelings through words. Here you can find products from the year you were born, as well as every Nintendo game you have played since childhood. It not only reviews the history of Nintendo, but also reviews me. Most of my life.
🎴Back on the first floor is the interactive game area. You will be given 10 gold coins in the ticket. The gold coins deducted for each game are different. The classic game I just saw on the second floor can now be played immediately. It takes me back to the elementary school student in one second. From the interactive game area, we can see Nintendo’s spirit of inheriting classics and actively innovating. Not forgetting its roots, the products "Hanafuda" and "Ultra Hand" that were started back then were turned into interactive games using new technologies. In a game with a huge joystick, you can experience one person operating half of the joystick, and it’s easy to quarrel with your partner, which may be part of the fun :D
🎴Finally, there is the commemorative product area. Although at first I thought it was a bit boring and lacking in design to just print the game console on a T-shirt or mug, but I later discovered that the must-buy product is actually a towel. Nintendo once again used "Hanafuda" and Elements of Mario's classic character are combined into patterns inspired by Kyoto's traditional fabrics. Now when I take out the small towel every day, I will think back to that wonderful afternoon at the Nintendo Museum😍
[Kyoto] From Kyoto! "Tamba Wine" - a wine that pairs well with Japanese food
Kyoto has a strong image of Japanese cuisine and sake, but in fact, in the Kyotanba region in the north, there is a local wine called "Tamba Wine" that is aged in a winery and vineyard on a private farm.
Tamba Wine is a Kyoto winery that was established in 1979 with the concept of creating wine that goes well with Kyoto cuisine and Japanese food.
They offer a wide variety of rare varieties that connoisseurs will love, as well as brands that are easy to drink even for wine beginners, and at the shop attached to the vineyard, you can enjoy a restaurant that serves food that goes well with their homemade wine, and you can also enjoy a wine tasting.
If you wish, you can also take a winery tour of the factory (additional charge, 1300 yen per person, including tasting of three types of wine).
I felt like I saw an unexpected side of Kyoto. The selection was very wide, and the snacks that went well with the wine looked delicious.

Nakamura Tokichi Shijo Store
Visit Nakamura Tokichi Shijo Store in Kyoto Takashimaya, Japan. Although I didn't visit the main store this time, I was still captivated by the aroma and taste of their green tea desserts. Their matcha desserts, especially the matcha parfait, are a must-try. There are also many matcha souvenirs available outside the store.
The staff are very polite and provide excellent service. You can order food using a QR code, and the staff will serve you a pot of freshly brewed hot green tea to enjoy.
I chose a special parfait, and the top layer of gyokuro was amazing. The combination of ingredients below created a refreshing taste. I also tried the seasonal tea jelly, which was delicious.
If you pass by and feel tired, I highly recommend stopping by for a taste. It's a must-try on the Kyoto food list!

Toyo-tei | A Century-Old Western Restaurant in Kyoto! Great Value for Money!
Kyoto is home to many delicious foods, and Toyo-tei is definitely unforgettable! Established in Kyoto in 1897, it has stood the test of time for over a century. The decor is elegant and atmospheric, full of nostalgia.
Toyo-tei's cold tomato appetizer is a signature dish, served with a bit of salad dressing, it's a perfect sweet and sour starter. The beef hamburger steak and pudding are also very famous. The hamburger is tender and juicy, and the pudding is surprisingly smooth and fragrant.

Fushimi Inari Taisha | The Head Shrine of 30,000 Inari Shrines!
It is said that there are 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan, with Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto being the head shrine.
The deity worshipped at Fushimi Inari Taisha is Inari Okami. Established in 711 AD, the shrine has a history of 1,300 years and is revered as the god of bountiful harvests, prosperous business, family safety, and the fulfillment of various wishes. (Modified from the official website of Fushimi Inari Taisha)
Before visiting Inari Taisha, I had heard of its profound reputation, so I chose to visit during the day. Despite the bustling crowd and the gloomy weather, it was still a beautiful shrine!
Famous for its foxes and the Senbon Torii (thousands of torii gates), the path leading to Mount Inari is lined with countless bright orange torii gates, said to number 10,000. The shrine's mystery and solemnity are greatly influenced by these features!
Along the way, I saw many fox statues, each unique, holding jewels, rice ears, scrolls, etc., symbolizing wealth, harvest, and wisdom. When visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha, be sure to look out for these adorable and majestic foxes!

Kiyomizudera Temple|A landmark temple among Kyoto’s “three major tourist attractions”!
Kiyomizu-dera Temple was built in 778 AD. The mountain name of Kiyomizu-dera Temple is Mount Otowa. It mainly worships the "Eleven-faced Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva" and covers a total area of 130,000 square meters. It was founded by the monk Xianxin (later renamed Yanzhen). After experiencing wars and disasters, the third generation of the Tokugawa family rebuilt Kiyomizu-dera Temple in 1633 and it became its current form.
Qingshui Temple is a pillar-structured temple. The main hall is 19 meters wide and 16 meters deep. In front of the hall is a suspended "stage" supported by 139 large logs tens of meters high without using a single nail. The six-story wooden platform made of torch wood in the temple is rare in Japan. There is also a "three-story pagoda" rebuilt in the 17th century AD in the temple, which is also designated as a national important cultural property.
(Modified from Wiki data)
What impressed me the most was the suspended Qingshui Stage. I had long heard the legend about the wish-fulfillment of "jumping off the Qingshui Stage". After visiting, I felt that this was a sad rumor. I believe that such a grand building turned into a platform for seeking death is not a temple. original intention.
I went to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in the morning and was really impressed by its tranquility and majesty. When I walked down from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and saw the towering wooden pillars, I was amazed by the uncanny skills of the ancients.
⭐️Tips⭐️
1. Went there at 7 o'clock in the morning, and at 8 o'clock we saw a huge crowd of people at the Qingshui Stage. Basically, tourists must go there, and there are many Japanese students!
2. Pay 500 yen in cash to instantly buy tickets for Shimizu Stage and other venues
2. After visiting Kiyomizudera Temple early, you can also visit Ninnenzaka and nearby temples! The entire area of Kiyomizudera Temple is a popular spot. After a long day of shopping, it’s great to go to Kamogawa River at dusk👍

A Relaxing Trip to Kyoto Without Worrying About Time.
This time, I came to enjoy places I haven't been to and dishes I haven't tried before♪
On the first day, I strolled around Gion and Kawaramachi.
For lunch, I went to 'Gion Mame Tora' in Gion.
Cute bite-sized sushi.
I entered around 12:30 PM and was guided to the second floor without any wait.
The sushi was delicious.
The Mame Sushi Set was 4,730 yen.

On the second day, I went to Kibune!
It took about 45 minutes by train from the hotel where I stayed.
I visited Kibune Shrine⛩️
A shrine famous for matchmaking.
Although it's far from the city center, there were many tourists.
It takes 5 minutes by Kyoto Bus from Kibuneguchi Station.
It's a bit of a walk from the bus stop to the shrine, but I enjoyed the nature while walking slowly.
I visited the main shrine, then the inner shrine, and finally the Yui Shrine in that order.
At the main shrine, there is a water fortune-telling.
There are souvenir shops and restaurants between the bus stop and the shrine, so it's good to stop by on the way back!
For lunch, I had wild boar hot pot at 'Kibune Nakayoshi'.
I could order even if I was alone!

Kyoto's Must-Visit: Kiyomizu-dera and Fushimi Inari Shrine
Kiyomizu-dera and Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto are among Japan's most iconic attractions, drawing countless visitors to experience traditional culture and stunning scenery.
Kiyomizu-dera, founded in 778 AD, is renowned for its wooden structure perched on a hillside and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. From the temple's stage, you can overlook Kyoto city and enjoy the changing seasonal views, with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn foliage being particularly enchanting. Nearby, the Otowa Waterfall is believed to bring wisdom, longevity, or love to those who drink its waters. The adjacent Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka streets are filled with traditional shops and teahouses, immersing visitors in Kyoto's ancient atmosphere.
Fushimi Inari Shrine is famous for its thousands of vibrant red torii gates and is the head shrine of Japan's Inari shrines, dedicated to the deity Inari, symbolizing agricultural abundance and commercial prosperity. Visitors can walk along the "Senbon Torii" path, feeling the sacred and solemn atmosphere. The mountain path winds upwards, offering a panoramic view of Kyoto from the summit. Fox statues, representing the messengers of Inari, are scattered throughout the shrine, adding an element of intrigue.
These two attractions each have their unique charm: Kiyomizu-dera showcases Kyoto's classical beauty, while Fushimi Inari Shrine provides an immersive experience of Shinto culture, making them perfect choices for exploring Kyoto's history and religious culture.
Japan solo travel for 18 days Day 10 Kyoto
#Itinerary sharing #beaches #KYOTO #Nishiki Market #Kinkakuji #OKAZAKISHINJA #OMIGINSHRIJI
Looking back on my 18-day solo trip to Japan in 2022 when the epidemic was just lifted
Get on the bus from Hankyu Umeda Station and get off at Karasuma Station. First go to Nishiki Market for brunch. After that, take the bus to Okazaki Shrine, take the bus to Kinkakuji Temple, take the bus to Okane Shrine, and finally walk back to Hankyu Electric Railway Return to Osaka.
Okazaki Shrine and Kinkakuji Temple are attractions that I didn’t have time to visit when I came to Kyoto many years ago. This time I want to make up for the regret! !
【Nishiki Market】
There are not many people and it is very comfortable to walk around. You can eat a lot of delicious food here. We ate a lot, including croquettes, eels, grilled seafood, strawberry daifuku, grilled shrimps, tamagoyaki, strawberry milkshakes and ice cream. We also bought I ordered small pastries similar to chicken cakes to eat on the road. When I look back at these actual photos, when I see the grilled seafood, I think it’s very salty! !
【Okazaki Shrine】
The shrine's divine envoy is a rabbit, so there are rabbit statues, so it has a special name "Rabbit Shrine". It is said that it is very effective in praying for marriage, safe delivery and pregnancy. The lottery is in the shape of a rabbit. Of course, you should buy one and take it home.
【Kinkakuji Temple】
The official name is "Luyuan Temple", and the ticket is very special with a blessing seal printed on it. The Kinkakuji Temple is really breathtakingly beautiful. The way the glittering golden relic hall is reflected in Jinghu Pond is really beautiful. I hope to have the opportunity to see the Kinkakuji Temple covered with snow when it snows in the future.
【Gogan Shrine】
It is located in an alley, quite small. When I went there, almost all the people were locals. The torii gate at the door was really shining with gold. After paying homage, I bought a small guardian.
Hidden Gems in Kyoto, Japan
This time, let's share some hidden gems in Kyoto by the Sea - Minazuki Shrine and Tsukibashi Bridge.
We stayed at the Seikasoen, a hot spring hotel in Yuhigaura Onsen.
On the day we drove from downtown Kyoto, we made a special stop at Minazuki Shrine.
This place is not well-known among tourists, so it's not crowded.
Tsukibashi Bridge is beautiful and resembles a little Venice.
The shrine is also free from crowds,
giving a very relaxing feeling.
I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary if you are driving or have a private car. 👍

Kyoto at 06:30 AM on the path to Kiyomizu-dera.
Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka are areas where you can feel the essence of ancient Kyoto, and they are designated as Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons is very popular. During the day, it gets very crowded with tourists, but early in the morning, it was still relatively quiet. The view of Hokan-ji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda) from this area is a must-see when you visit Kyoto.

Highly Recommend Fufu Kyoto Onsen Hotel
When traveling to Kyoto, soaking in an onsen is a must. This time, I recommend the Fufu Kyoto hotel. This hotel offers a restaurant and free Wi-Fi, and it is located near Shoren-in Temple. The beds in this hotel are very comfortable, and the onsen is top-notch. You can enjoy a private onsen in your room, so there's no need to worry about awkwardness. Additionally, the staff's service is excellent, making your stay very comfortable. Highly recommended.
Strolling through the classical and beautiful Gion🪭
Kyoto, once the capital of Japan, carries a thousand years of traditional culture🪭.
The most visited area in Kyoto is 'Gion,' located in the Higashiyama district. Known as Kyoto's entertainment district, it is famous for its geisha performances and the beautiful traditional townhouses, Japanese restaurants, and teahouses🍵 that attract many tourists🧳.
Most of the buildings on the streets are typical Kyoto machiya architecture, mainly two or three-story wooden houses without foundations, and no steel nails are used between the beams and pillars.
The streets, full of the ancient capital's atmosphere, preserve the most original townscape of Kyoto.
PS: Besides Hanamikoji Street, which is a 'public road' for both pedestrians and vehicles, many alleys convenient for locals are 'private roads,' and tourists will be banned from entering starting April 2024🚫.
Gion does not have a precise boundary, roughly starting from Yasaka Shrine and developing along Shijo Street.
Nearby attractions in Gion: Yasaka Shrine, Hanamikoji Street, Yasaka Pagoda, Kiyomizu Temple, Shirakawa, etc.
Address: Gion-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City
Transportation: Take bus 100 or 206 from Kyoto Station to 'Kiyomizu-michi'
Keihan Line 'Gion-Shijo Station' or 'Kiyomizu-Gojo Station,' 10 minutes on foot

Wan Zhong Xiao Yan/Beijing Cuisine Feelings
The Manju Main Store was founded in Nishijin, Kyoto in 1937. It follows the tradition of Kyoto cuisine by selecting seasonal Kyoto ingredients and cooking the food with dashi. It has a unique light taste and pays attention to the presentation, allowing people to immerse themselves in delicious and beautiful Kyoto cuisine.
I like the food in this restaurant very much. Everything is not sloppy. The cold side dishes, main dishes and even the desserts are all very delicious. The main dish of red-leaf duck has a unique aroma, and the desserts of honey sweet potato and matcha cake are sweet but not sweet. The tofu is also light and delicious, making the whole meal healthy and delicious!
The environment is also bland. It is very plain overall, but full of connotation. If you like simple and unique food, I recommend giving it a try!
The above set menu is 1,900 yen, there are more rich and exquisite ones! You can check it out on the official website.
