Immerse into Dali’s surrealist imagination👨🏻🎨
We went to IDEAL museum to check out Dalí cybernetic, an multimedia immersive exhibition about the Spanish artist 👨🏻🎨
Salvador Dalí is one of the 21st century most influential artists, an extravagant man, whose pointy mustache is as iconic as his artworks.
In this exhibition we got to delve into the imaginary universe of Dalí, explore the influence that other geniuses of the time had upon him, and his creative take on scientific and technological advances.
One of the most impressive rooms is a huge space with an immersive projection and a good 15 minutes video showcasing Dali’s most famous artworks.
In there you can feel part of Dali’s paintings, as you walk with his iconic figures like the long-legged elephants 🐘
One of the videos is actually a newly generated imagery by Artificial Intelligence, something Dalí predicted in his life.

Historical art pieces in Barcelona’s museum
The National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC as it goes in Spanish) guards a large collection of art pieces from hundreds of years ago.
The exhibition halls inside the building are divided in three historical periods: Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance, Modern Art.
As the exhibits follow a historical chronology it is recommended to start the visit at the Romanesque Hall, where one can witness mostly artworks of religious topics.
Continuing towards the Gothic and Renaissance Hall the line of religious artworks continues here, however can find pieces that are a lot more decorated and opulent than in the previous hall.
Finally, the Modern Art Hall displays a large array of artworks, from pieces furniture of the style Gaudí used in his buildings; to advertisements or war posters.

Rooftop views on Barcelona’s biggest museum
The MNAC (Museo Nacional de Arte de Cataluña) is the biggest museum in Barcelona.
Inside the walls it is guarding a precious collection of historical art pieces dating back to the Medieval times.
What not many people know, though, is that you can go up to the rooftop of this historical building, where to admire its decorated towers and observe the city of Barcelona from a privileged viewpoint.
To get there, you’ll have to find an elevator, at the end of a narrow corridor next to the cafe / bar inside the museum.
It is not obvious but it is not difficult to find either, click the button to go to the 5th floor and from there follow the guides to access the rooftop terrace.
I recommend to check it out on your visit to the museum, before, in-between or after visiting the exhibition halls.

The Famous Terracotta Warriors 🇨🇳
#2023travelwish
Xi’an was on my bucket list for a long time. I finally made it and had the chance to visit the Terracotta Warriors.
📍Location: Xi’an (Outside of the city center. You can take the subway and get a DiDi from there.)
Attractions: Famous Terracotta Warriors (Known as the 8th wonder of the world). The clay warriors were found in 1974 by local farmers.
When visiting the site, make sure you go meet one of the farmers that found the clay warriors. Ask around to find out where his shop is. I had the chance to meet him and he signed my book. It was a pretty cool experience!
Travel wish for the new year: I’ve never had the chance to visit Yangshuo. I hope I’ll be able to make it next year.

Must See Museum by Jim Thompson
When we first landed to Bangkok Thailand, our first stop was to go Jim Thompson Museum. It was an exploratory trip as we learned how authentic premium silk clothes (like dresses, shirts, pants, etc.) were made. It took us close to an hour to finish the whole tour. There are even raw materials of silk present around the museum so you can better visualize the whole process. If you’re looking a souvenir, they also have them in the gift shop store. Don’t be surprised as the prices here. an range up to 50,000 Baht given the premium quality of the cloth. We almost bought a dress here for a friend. Yes, that’s how good the quality is. #museumquest

Free exhibitions at former textile factory
Tecla Sala Arts Center is a big space with rotating exhibitions taking the venue of a former textile factory in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, right next to Barcelona
This is a space that doesn’t figure in most of the art tourist routes when visiting Barcelona, that has countless museums such as Picasso Museum, MACBA (Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona or MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia); however it should not be missed as they often display artworks of great value and on top of that it is free, opposite to the above mentioned museums.
When we visited, they were exhibiting a series of pieces by Catalan artist Gino Rubert, whose works have been displayed precisely at MNAC in other occasions.
The gardens of Tecla Sala are also a lovely place to sit down and enjoy a warm afternoon and around the corner from the exit of the Arts Center you can witness a few street art piece and graffiti right next to the tall chimney that reminisces of its textile past.

Boats⚓️submersibles & more sea stuff🌊
The Museo Marítimo - Maritime Museum - of Barcelona holds several relics of the Spanish navy and unique pieces from the past.
Most of this, reminds us of a glorious history where Spain had a predominant position over the sailing routes across oceans 🌊
The many replicas displayed inside the museum tell these stories of grandeur. And they do so inside a building that is nothing left of impressive.
Located in Drassanes, right at the seaside tip of Las Ramblas - Barcelona’s most trodded promenade - just across the exit from metro Line 3; this building was once the location of Barcelona’s dry dock.
Inside the high vaults of this building, ships were created or repaired before being put into the water of the nearby port, ready to sail for adventures.
One of those ships is the Royal Galley, a 16th century battleship that participated in the infamous battle of Lepanto, where Spanish faced the powerful navy of the Ottoman Empire and stopped their advance through the Mediterranean Sea.
A full-scale replica of that ship is displayed in this museum, and it is really impressive to watch.
Another piece worth checking is the submersible designed by Catalan inventor Narcís Monturiol and named Ictineo.
The main purpose for this was to scrap coral from the seabed, hence, the ingenious element at the front of the submersible consisting of a scrapper and a net.
Even though the Ictineo was not properly a submarine, the engineering concepts used to develop it contributed greatly to the submarine navigation.
The second prototype of Monturiol’s invention, Ictineo II, reached 50 meters of depth in one immersion, and was capable of staying under water for up to 8 hours once. All of these are quite remarkable achievements, considering it was the mid of the 19th century and the submersible was made of wood 🪵
At the museum you will be able to read the interesting story of this submersible, as well as many more interesting artifacts and stories that contributed to the sea navigation as we know it today

Lychnostatis Museum - Greece
In the suburbs of Hersonissos, not far from Malia, there is one of the most interesting museums in Crete - Lychnostatis. This is a whole ethnographic complex in the open air. Fairy-tale buildings with a medieval mill are clearly visible from the road and, of course, attract the attention of tourists. The main feature of the museum is that it is not an object created by the decision of the Ministry of Culture, but appeared thanks to the enthusiasm of the collector.

In the period from November 1 to March 31, a preliminary agreement is required to visit the museum.

Tourists traveling in Malaysia are always impressed by the small town of Kuching. Most of the surprise is how the locals fanatically worship cats.
