Nature Like You’ve Never Seen It Before, Like Another Planet
An absolute highlight of my recent trip to New Zealand for Chinese New Year, The Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland. NZ is famous for its volcanic and geothermal activity and there’s no better place to experience it than this, I’ve never seen anything like it. There are guided walk ways that take you around some
Of New Zealand’s most active and most beautiful geothermal areas. The main feature is the champagne pool, a huge lake constantly bubbling and emitting overwhelming clouds of steam.
The pool is quite shallow and you can see beautiful underwater detailing, also the range or colours in the mud and water around it is stunning. If you get close enough you can be surrounded by steam and experience the heat, id advise closing your mouth as the sulphur makes the experience very eggy.
Follow the trails that you want to do, we did the two main trails and it took us under 2 hours. It was a very easy walk but it can be tough in the heat, so pack sun cream and water as there are no facilities along the route.
I was amazed at the colours in the water and how different the thermal outlets can be, some made of mud, some are super hot water and others seem to just be tiny cracks in sheer rock.
It was one of the pricier experiences on the trip but totally worth it! It also has a very nice gift shop and restaurant if you want to recharge after the walk
Entrance fee is $45NZ / £22
It’s open 8:30 - 4:30 and last entry is 3PM
‼️ this is an active geothermal area and it can be very dangerous, please stick to the designated walk ways and don’t touch the water!! It can be very hot and very poisonous ‼️

Time Travel Through The History Of Technology In New Zealand
The MOTAT in Auckland is split across two sites, one for aviation and then this one for transport and technology. Set across various buildings it has everything from musical instruments, cars, trolley buses and one of the first water pumping systems in New Zealand.
It’s a really interesting range of exhibitions and there really is something for everyone, it’s even interesting seeing examples of the first iPhones - seeing how much we have developed in just the last few years. There are originally pac man machines, early communication devices and concepts for low carbon technology.
For me the most interesting part was the trolley buses and trams, they’re in immaculate condition and there’s a nice range of models in the sheds. Quite a few of them are in working condition and operate the short tram link to the aviation hall. Auckland used to be lined with tram routes back in the day and there’s a lot of information on this golden age of tram travel
In some of the more interactive area such as the music hall there are staff in hand to help you better understand the exhibitions themselves.
Entrance is around $19NZ / £8.50 and includes a free team ride to the other campus of the museum, the MOTAT aviation hall. However you have to pay a separate entrance fee when you reach the aviation hall ( it’s worth it, see my previous post)

An Aviation Museum Like No Other, MOTAT Aviation Hall Auckland
I recently visited New Zealand for Chinese New Year and during my time in Auckland I had a few days to check out all the museums and galleries. I’ve always been fascinated by aviation so had to visit the MOTAT aviation hall, and I was absolutely blown away.
You’re greeted by a mounted spitfire at the entrance and then a very unassuming warehouse, as soon as you step through the door you can see the sheer scale of this building.
There is a small entrance lobby, ticket office and gift shop then a huge warehouse full of beautifully restored aircraft both military and civilian.
The warehouse is spaciously laid out and there’s a lot of educational content, I spent a lot of time reading and taking everything in. The overall visit took me 2 hours but if you don’t read everything you can do it in less than an hour.
For me the flying boats were a highlight for me; it’s so hard to find these in museums especially ones so immaculately restored. It was also fascinating to learn so much about pacific island flying during the golden age of travel
I would totally recommend this to families and anyone who has any interest in aviation or transport in general.
It coats $19NZ / £8.50 and included a free tram ride to the other half of the campus, however you have to pay again to enter the other campus.

Underground Museim In Albert, France
#historic #historical #museum #france #worldwar1 #history #educational
Many of us were not involved in War World 1 which happened during the early 1900(1914-1918). For educational purposes, if you are visiting Albert In Somme, France you should visit the Somme 1916 Museum where this is an underground museum on how the soldiers love their life during the world war one.

#wecreate #cambodia #Angkorwat #historical #UNESCO #heritagesite #Siemreap #Educational #tripblazers
Angkor Wat is a remarkable piece of an ancient historical temple that is said to be one of the world largest historical site in the world. Dated back into the 12th century, this temple is almost more than 100 hectares wide and this has made me wonder how was such temple built with minimal technology back in the older days.
But if you do visit the city of Siem Reap, you have to come to Angkor wat at least one, to understand the stories carved up by the walls of the temple, the carved statues and the entire structure itself. Also, do remember to come here to catch the morning sunrise, where you will be able to see a bright orange sky with the sunrise right behind the temple making this one breathtaking scenery.
Our tour guide started this tour in the wee hours of 4 in the morning, so that we are able to get a front view of the lake and the temple's reflection. If you head here any later, the front rows will already be occupied and your photos wont be as perfect as what you see here. Lastly, this place is not wheelchair friendly due to the multiple steps and stairs that you have to navigate thruout the temple.
