Shanghai is just a 30-minute high-speed train ride away from this ancient town!
With the opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-Speed Railway, more and more hidden gems are being discovered.
Lili Ancient Town is everything I imagined an ancient town to be.
After seeing so many commercialized ancient towns, I realized how rare Lili is. There are no cookie-cutter photo spots or grilled squid stalls here. Instead, you'll find small bridges, flowing water, and traditional houses with flying eaves. You'll see women washing clothes by the river, old men sunbathing, and shop owners busy preparing lunch.
Lili's history dates back 2,500 years. As the doors and windows creak open, I cross more than 20 stone bridges and 150 alleys. The old dreams sheltered by the misty corridors fill me with energy as I immerse myself in the ancient town's rustic charm.

As the name suggests, it is hidden in the mountains and forests, super comfortable and quiet, like a paradise! The retro red exterior and the staggered Moroccan-style design are full of artistic sense. The entire hotel building is equipped with a high-end geothermal system, so it doesn't feel damp or cold even though it is located in the valley.
We booked a double room in a minimalist wabi-sabi style, with a large floor-to-ceiling window and a large terrace, where you can get close to nature! Guangzhou high-speed rail 1 hour direct, seriously underestimated century-old town!
This century-old Chikan Overseas Chinese Town, I have been here at least five times, it is really my good place to escape the city plan! Retro arcade buildings, trams shuttling through the old streets, and the swaying rowing boats in the Tanjiang River, not only the Republic of China style is strong, but also the movie-like filter, enough to make people come again and again for an immersive experience!
This time, what attracted me most was the "Chinese and Western Fusion of Good Plays" held in the ancient town. Lion dance, Wing Chun, English dance, parade, and many other non-heritage iron flower performances. This summer, Chikan is so good! The singing and dancing atmosphere on the scene seems to take people back to the Republic of China.
