Acropolis of Athens is definitely a bucket list location and worth visiting once in your lifetime. Acropolis literally means highest point + city. It is an ancient citadel located on a hill on top of Athens. Getting there - You can take the metro to the nearest station and walk up. Recommend going early to avoid crowds as this is the top attraction is Athens. Key Highlights/ Must-See: 1. Parthenon Highlights - Parthenon is beautiful ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. It is known for its iconic Doric architecture and historical significance. Although some of the columns have fallen, it still stands majestic and remains the highlight of the entire Acropolis. 2. Erechtheion Highlights - Erechtheion is known for the unique asymmetrical design and also the very iconic Caryatids. These are female sculptures that replace traditional columns. 3. Theatre of Dionysus Highlights - This is at the south slope. Although not so well preserved like Odeon of Herodus Atticus, you can still have a feel of its former glory. It is an ancient theatre where there used to be performances to honour Dionysus. 4. Odeon of Herodes Atticus Highlights - A very well preserved ancient theatre with large capacity of 5000 and its location offers a panoramic view of entire city of Athens. 5. Petra is an ancient city in Jordan and one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. It is known for the magnificent rock-cut architecture and unique water conduit system, Petra is also known as the "Rose City" due to its distinctive pink sandstone cliffs. Definitely a check off my bucket list. Getting there - I took a bus/ coach from Amman to Petra early in the morning. Highlights / Must-Sees - I went to Petra for 2 days straight to see majority of the sites in this ancient city. There are multiple routes and do note that trekking is required for many of the sites higher up the cliffs. 1. Treasury Highlights - This is the first majestic structure you will see upon entering Petra. My breath stopped for a moment when I first walked in. Known for its elaborate Hellenistic architecture carved into rose-red sandstone, the intricate facades and stunning columns reflects the skills and artistry of the Nabataean people. 2. Monastery Highlights - This is quite a hike up but totally worth it. It stands about 50m high and has a grand facade with intricate carvings. From monastery area, you can get breathtaking views of surrounding landscape 3. Royal Tombs Highlights - This is a series of rock-cut burial sites carved into the cliffs. This shows us the architectural skills of the Nabateans. 4. #ancientcities A Fantastic architectural wonder set high on a hill on the outskirts of Athens, the terrain is difficult & weather very hot so make sure to wear sturdy footwear & take a hat, plus water is essential as its easy to dehydrate in the summer months, it's best to pre-book tickets to avoid the possibility of huge queues 👍A must see when visiting Athens. They now used timed entry tickets, and won't let you in outside your timing. If you want the easier walk, go in from the North entrance and exit from the South. This reduces the climb once you enter and climbing pace may matter. That said, it appears to also be the busier entrance.

Park at the bottom of the hill as further up, it gets very busy and very tight. No tickets required. All for free!The lighthouse is one of Santorini’s landmarks! I visited the light house to watch the sunset and wasn’t sure exactly what I will expect but once I reached there I found alooooooot of people arriving at the same time and rushing to catch the sunset from above! The view was phenomenal and the birds were flying around … it was a great experience around the crowd who is very quite, enjoying the moment and taking pictures

#ancientcities The town of Maghdouche in Sidon District officially enters the world religious tourism map through the Shrine of "Our Lady of Mantara" after the United Nations World Tourism Organization decided to approve it, following the efforts of the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism and the "In the Footsteps of Christ in South Lebanon" Association, in cooperation with the Greek Melkite Catholic Diocese of Sidon, headed by Bishop Elie Haddad. Two reasons prompted the World Tourism Organization to approve it, the first is because "Our Lady of Mantara" is a place that has become scientifically agreed upon as one of the places that Jesus Christ visited, and that he used to come to the coast of Tyre and Sidon with his mother, the Virgin Mary, so he would leave her and go down to preach in the coastal cities, so she would wait for him in the Maghdouche Cave, which became known as the Cave of Our Lady of Mantara, and the second is because several Italian and then Polish missions and Lebanese archaeologists have determined that this site is an archaeological site dating back to 2000 years ago, meaning that it is an archaeological area with its historical and spiritual dimensions and an extension of the Holy Land from Jerusalem through Galilee to Lebanon. What is remarkable is that once the approval to join the world tourism map was granted, the name of Our Lady of Mantara entered 400,000 new sites in world tourism, and tourism agencies and offices included the site in their tourist trips to Lebanon, while the Ministry of Tourism promised to put up signs and banners guiding to the site from the coastal road starting from Sidon and reaching Maghdouche, while the Greek Melkite Catholic Archdiocese of Sidon began establishing a tourist hotel in the vicinity of the Maghdouche Basilica with about 20 rooms to attract tourists who visit the area for religious tourism. #ancientcities Petra, one of the new 7 wonders of the world and UNESCO world heritage site, is truly amazing and beautiful. Petra is an ancient city in Hellenistic and Roman times. This means over 2000 years ago! While Petra is well known for the treasury, the other parts like the monastery, the tombs and the great temple are all pretty and impressive in their own ways! The hike to the monastery is definitely worth it. Also did the wadi al farasa trail to the high place of sacrifice which is moderately challenging especially going to the altar with crazy wind and steep slope. But you will get a panoramic view of petra and along the way see other interesting architectures. I spent 8 hours at Petra. Do note that the walk into Petra from the tourist information centre is about 30-40 mins walk.

Kyoto is one of our favourite destinations that we often do over weekends. It is amongst the oldest of places in the world and has so much heritage and history. One of the reasons Kyoto has such a high count of treasured sites worth visiting is because it was spared during World War 2. It has been said that Kyoto was actually the initial intended target for the devastating atomic bomb, however Americans and allies had visited the city and thought it unwise to attack such a culturally relevant place to the Japanese.
