Got a day in Chengdu and you don't know what to do? Stop looking, and buy your tickets for Emeishan. 🏞️ The train ride from Chengdu is around an hour and a half. When you arrive at the railway station, you can buy your tickets for the mountain there. We decided to go directly to the summit. The bus took an hour and a half and dropped us near the cable car. We decided to walk, which was a good workout (around 2hours with breaks). It was very rewarding once we arrived, and the place was worth the effort. The mist, the clouds moving fast, the Buddhist chants, everything made this place special. As we wanted to see the monkey area, we decided not to stay for too long, and we were right as the descent took us around an hour and a half. Please note that you can take the cable car up and down, which is the favored way of doing it as walking all those steps can be demanding. The bus ride to Wuxian-Gang took us quite some time as well, and before we knew it, we had to hurry to reach the monkey area (6km from the dropoff point) as the last bus leaves at 6pm. We were in absolute awe in front of the landscapes. It was totally different from what we had seen at the summit. It wasn't cold anymore, on the contrary. People were relaxing and enjoying the refreshing water in the river, taking beautiful pictures, enjoying the scenery. It almost felt like a movie. Unfortunately, as we were too late, we didn't reach the monkey area and didn't see any, but we're glad we stopped there to admire this landscape. Our only regret is that we didn't stay one more day to explore more in depth and enjoy what the mountain has to offer. I think you can do a lot in two days, but three gives you a more in depth view of the area. We returned to Chengdu after walking more than 14km and the equivalent of 250 floors, tired, but happy. Popular devotions revolve around Lian, town in Batangas which is about 53.8 kms away from Tagaytay City via Tagaytay, Nasugbu Hwy for an hour and a half travel by private car. This devotion is to St. John the Baptis8t which is the patron saint of Lian Church and is declared archdiocesan shrine in 2011. I took this time to visit to pay respect to the patron and for the first time I see a lot of sculptures depicting the life story of St. John the Baptist from conception to death. No church in the Philippines you can see such depiction of his life story. It is worth visiting for learning, devotion and spiritual replenishment. Come and see the Precursor of the Lord. Spending half day for travel and devotion is enough then exploring Matabungkay Beach in Lian is a good experience of baptism in the sea with John the Baptizer. For the driving directions to Lipa City, Batangas, head towards SLEX and enter Star Toll and exit at Bulihan. The Monastery of Carmel in Lipa City is located along P. Torres Street, 4217 Lipa City. It is about 82 kms drive from Manila for an hour and half without traffic. I come here as a pilgrim and curious about the supposed shower of rose petals dated back 1948 where image of Jesus and Mary were imprinted in the petals. I visited the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the garden where she is supposed to appear and spent moment of silence. The place was declared by a proclamation as "center of celebration as National Day of Prayer" every September 12. True enough, for those tourists who would like to experience a real rest from the busy days, Lipa carmel is a pilgrim destination- a cultural and tourist attraction. When I think of Guimaras, it always brings me to the memory of the monks living in enclosure with extreme sacrifices. Trip.com flies me to Manila-ilo-ilo. As I reached the Ilo-ilo international airport, by car i reached Ortiz Port. By riding a boat, i reached Jordan Port where I can arrange a 30 minute jeepney/ muti-cab to the Trappist Monastery in Brgy. San Miguel. I toured the monastery grounds with plenty of mango trees and spent a day of prayer and silence. I talk with the monk who are very friendly and full of wisdom about life. The place also can entertain overnight spenders. When I left the monastery grounds, I don't forget to buy jellies, jams, candies and more. All are products grown in Trappist grounds. Nengren Temple is the only nunnery for Buddhist nuns in the entirety of Chongqing! It’s nestled amongst the bustling Jiefangbei area of downtown and is easy to miss if you are not looking for it! We stumbled upon it by complete accident while exploring downtown Chongqing. We were welcomed in by the nuns and shown around. We came around 3pm so we missed the vegetarian lunch they prepare for pilgrims at noon! It was free to enter the temple and we were even offered incense to burn. The temple is made up of several rooms between two buildings that house relics and statues. He had established many buddhist temple in this mountain and from now on people had followed his pilgrimage path that took at least 1 month to finish by foot.
