A Day Exploring Seoul Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village and Cheonggyecheon Stream
During my visit to Seoul, I explored three fascinating locations that showcased the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. Gyeongbokgung Palace, with its majestic architecture and serene gardens, offered a glimpse into Korea's royal past. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to see the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. Just a short walk away, Bukchon Hanok Village provided a charming escape with its narrow alleys and traditional hanok houses, giving me a sense of old Seoul amidst the modern city. Many of the homes are still used as residences, while others have been converted into cultural centers, galleries, and tea houses. Finally, I strolled along Cheonggyecheon Stream, a peaceful urban oasis, where the flowing water and surrounding greenery created a calm contrast to the busy streets, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Bukchon Hanok Village and its famous BR🍦
Bukchon Hanok Village is a beautiful village where you can witness beautifully constructed houses and buildings in the traditional korean style, i.e., Hanok style.
The cover picture is the main street containing traditional houses on both sides. There are various Hanok rental shops as well where you can rent traditional Korean dresses. You will see many people dressed in Hanok and clicking pictures, particularly in this street.
There are many, many famous brands here that have constructed their showroom completely in Hanok style🤩
One such case is BaskinRobbins! They have opened a Hanok style branch and sell completely Korean flavored ice creams, which you won't find in normal Baskin Robbins. We tried one such ice cream by the name of "Sweet corn ice cream," and it was yummy😋
A beautiful street with beautiful houses and shops :)

No visit to Seoul would be complete without a stroll through the Bukchon Hanok Village. I was really looking forward to visiting Bukchon since I always see this in Kdrama and it did not disappoint. The village is a lovely little haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The houses preserve traditional architecture. Roofs are beautiful. Many wealthy Koreans, some of all tradition, live here. The place is quite exclusive. This is such a wonderful area to explore, albeit quite hilly but scenic and definitely great photo ops. You can spend some time just wandering the roadway and alleys, discovering, cafes, craft shops and art galleries nestled amongst the traditional style hanoks. So many things aside from sightseeing can be done in Bukchon. There are cultural experience venues, traditional pottery and jewelry stores. The aromas, the colors, the essences, the past just invade your senses. It's hard not to fall in love with it. When you get to the top you have a fantastic view of old vs modern Korea with hanoks by your feet and modern Seoul skyscrapers in the distance. A paradise for a photography enthusiast such as myself. Definitely one of my favorite areas in Seoul.
Be quiet when walking around. You need to talk in whispers as residents do live there and we need to be respectful of this. There are so many people here that local grannies have their own volunteer patrol with signs to instruct the general public to keep the noise level down.

Bukchon Hanok Village is a Korean traditional village in Seoul with a long history located between Gyeongbok Palace, Changdeok Palace and Jongmyo Royal Shrine.
Eventually in February it's very cold and windy here. Be prepare with your winter wear. Visitors are encouraged not to be noisy here because of it residential area.
Along the quite path took some photos of teenagers wearing beautiful Korean traditional wear.
After breakfast we went for the perfect winter stroll through Bukchon Hanok Village. The higher you get the more beautiful the view looking down on the city. You can rent traditional clothing to wear and take photos in, or like us admire those who have. People do actually live there, so most road signs ask you to please be respectful and walk the streets quietly which gives the village a very peaceful vibe. It was a quiet morning as we went on a Tuesday and not much seemed to be open. We found a cute little cafe where we had affogato and cookies, complimentary of the very kind owner. There is an amazing sock shop hidden down one of the alleys which you can completely get lost in! It was hard to stop at a few pairs! 🧦 #seoultravel #seoul #bukchon #bukchonhanokvillage #koreanhistory
