Shilin Night Market is very large and one of the most famous night markets in Taipei. Although it has a reputation for being more touristy, we decided it was a necessary stop on our first trip to Taiwan. There were several food stalls that had Michelin recommendations, and we ate some delicious cold sesame noodles at one of them. Stinky tofu was another very popular food item. Of course, Shilin Night Market is the night market that both locals and foreigners are well aware off when visiting taipei. Shilin is popular since it is located in the heart of taipei and is located around many schools, therefore attracting the many locals. The prices in the food street here in Shilin are also much lower than the ones sold in the mall and plus, the vendors cook the food fresh right infront of your eyes. Make sure you come here with an empty stomach, because there is too many stall vendors here and im sure one night wont be able for you to try each and every stall. Came here after our hike on Yang Ming Shan to get our dinner fix. Hungry as hell we are. We chanced upon this particular Japanese ramen shop which looks pretty good and got the popular feels. There was not much queue at the time we arrived. Only about 5 person ahead of us. After about 10 mins later, a snake had formed behind us and we know we are at the right place. Initially, we wanted to share 1 bowl so we can eat more around the night market later but we then realised during ordering that it is mandatory for each person to order one bowl to dine in. Busy night market in taiwan! The atmosphere was an experience and the street food were really good! We tried the grilled squid, fried milk cube, potato prince and fried chicken! Night market is easily accessible by train. Be prepared to spend at least two hours at the night market. I always heard of shilin frid chicken, shilin night Market and finally I had the chance to visit this iconic, well talked about by friends especially those who went to Taiwan for army. Shilin Night Market is located at No. 101, Jihe Road, Shilin District in Taipei City and is open daily from 4pm till midnight, but I do recommend to come maybe abit later as most of the stalls open closer to dinner time. You will see the crowds start coming in slowly especially when the sunsets and the Market lights comes up! Go for the popular stuff, like your fried chicken, meesua, oyster egg or oyster omelette, potato and cheese and bubble tea. Our trip to Taipei, Taiwan, was a blend of nature, culture, and culinary delights, making it a truly unforgettable experience. Despite the rain and chilly weather, we were excited to explore the city and its surrounding attractions. Yeliu Geopark, where we marveled at the unique rock formations shaped by nature over millennia. From there, we ventured to Shifen where we released sky lanterns, watching them float into the cloudy sky, carrying our wishes and dreams. Next was Jiufen, a charming mountain town with narrow alleyways filled with tea houses and shops. Next day, we explored Beitou, known for its hot springs and relaxing atmosphere. We visited the Old Train Station, a historical gem, and the Beitou Library, a beautiful eco-friendly building surrounded by nature. The highlight was the Thermal Valley, where we felt the warmth of the steaming waters contrasting with the cold air around us. In the evening, we headed to Tamsui to catch the sunset. The view was spectacular, with the sun casting a golden glow over the Tamsui River, creating a perfect backdrop for our photos. We also visited the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, a grand monument dedicated to Taiwan's former leader, and Taipei 101, an architectural marvel that offered breathtaking views of the city skyline.Our nights were filled with adventure as we explored Taipei’s famous night markets, Ningxia and Shilin.We indulged in delicious street food, while soaking in the vibrant and lively atmosphere. Ximending is Taipei’s bustling shopping district, was a perfect way to end our journey. The area was alive with neon lights, trendy shops, and street performances, offering a glimpse into the city’s modern and youthful side. If you want to walk around the night market in Taiwan, I recommend this place. This old market has been open for a long time, but many tourists still like to come here. The market area is very large. There are many alleys to walk around. There are many famous street food shops here. People are queuing up endlessly. If you want to shop for clothes and shoes, there are many brands to choose from. What you can't miss is going to find the 3D screen with the cute little tiger cubs that everyone can't resist taking a picture of as a souvenir. 👍🏻Recommended shop: 🌭 Sticky rice with sausage, a shop with many award signs, really delicious and a very long queue. 🍗 Roasted chicken Hometown barbecue chicken is right in front of the market.
