Kyoto's Serene Temple, Kyoto's Famous Tourist Spot 'Ginkaku-ji'
⏰ 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
📍 2 Ginkakujicho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, 606-8402 Japan
Kyoto has two famous temples: Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) and Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion).
Kinkaku-ji is known for its gold-covered exterior. In contrast, Ginkaku-ji does not have a silver coating.
Ginkaku-ji is a place where you can enjoy Japan's serene natural scenery, making it well worth a visit. It takes about 30 to 60 minutes to explore the entire temple grounds, so it's recommended to visit at a leisurely pace.
Day Trip to Kyoto, Hokan-ji Temple in Kyoto.
📍 Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, Hokan-ji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda)
Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka are must-visit streets in Kyoto, filled with various shops, making them perfect for leisurely exploration.
These areas are also rich in attractions like Kiyomizu-dera and Hokan-ji Temple. I visited during the cherry blossom season, and despite the crowds, it was truly magnificent. A trip to Osaka and Kyoto next spring would be a great idea.

"Osaka, the food capital of Japan, stole my heart and taste buds!
I spent 5 incredible days in this vibrant city, and it was a culinary adventure! From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for a treat. The city's energetic atmosphere, rich history, and mouth-watering food made me feel like I was in a food paradise.
I stayed in a cozy hotel in the Dotonbori area, which cost around $300 for the entire stay. From there, I explored the city using the efficient metro system, which cost around $2 per ride.
Here are some of the top places I visited:
- Dotonbori: free entrance (I took in the neon lights, street food, and unique entertainment)
- Osaka Castle: $5 entrance fee (I explored the historic castle and gardens)
- Universal Studios Japan: $70 entrance fee (I experienced the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and more)
- Umeda Sky Building: $10 entrance fee (I saw breathtaking views of the city)
- Shinsekai: free entrance (I explored the retro-style neighborhood and tried kushikatsu)
The food in Osaka was incredible, and I tried everything from street food to high-end restaurants. A traditional Osaka dinner cost around $20, while a fancy dinner cost around $100.
Here's a breakdown of my expenses:
- Flights: $800
- Accommodation (5 nights): $300
- Food and drink: $500
- Transportation (metro, buses, etc.): $20
- Activities and entrance fees: $200
- Total: $1,820
Osaka, I'll be back for more! You have my heart, and I can't wait to explore more of your culinary secrets!"
Performance and Spectacles Abound at Universal Studios Osaka
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Japan is a must-visit, featuring various performances. Actors reenact scenes from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, making you feel like you've stepped into the movies.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has two main attractions that are extremely popular. Although the wait times can be quite long, it's highly recommended to experience both.
Savoring Osaka: A Street Food Adventure
Osaka, known as the kitchen of Japan, is a paradise for food lovers and a must-visit destination for authentic street food. The city offers a delectable array of snacks and dishes that reflect its rich culture. Here are five street food delights you absolutely cannot miss!
1. Takoyaki: The Iconic Octopus Balls**
No trip to Osaka is complete without trying takoyaki, the city’s most famous street food. These ball-shaped snacks are made from a savory batter filled with tender octopus, green onions, and pickled ginger, cooked until golden brown. Topped with takoyaki sauce, bonito flakes, and seaweed, they are a delicious and portable treat.
2. Kuromon Market Seafood: A Fresh Feast
For seafood lovers, Kuromon Market is a must-visit. This bustling market offers everything from grilled squid to fresh sashimi. Don’t miss the grilled scallops topped with garlic butter—juicy and bursting with flavor!
3. Oden: A Comforting Winter Favorite
Oden is a hearty dish of various ingredients simmered in a light soy-flavored dashi broth. You’ll find items like boiled eggs, daikon radish, and fish cakes, all infused with rich flavors. Served in cozy food stalls, it’s a perfect warm treat during colder months.
4. Gyoza: Flavorful Pan-Fried Dumplings
Gyoza, pan-fried dumplings filled with minced pork and vegetables, are a popular snack in Osaka. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside, they are often served with a dipping sauce of soy sauce and vinegar.
5. Kushi Katsu: Crispy Fried Sticks
Don’t forget kushi katsu—skewered and deep-fried delights! These crispy treats come with various fillings and are served with a tangy dipping sauce, making them a fun and communal snack.
Osaka’s street food scene offers a vibrant array of flavors. Grab your chopsticks and dive into this culinary adventure—you won’t be disappointed!

At Universal Studios Japan, you can check the schedule for cute character greetings, parades, and shows directly on the app. If there's a character you want to meet on the day of your visit, it might be a good idea to check the time and location in advance.

With the addition of the new Super Mario Village at Universal Studios Japan, it has become even more popular than before.

Osaka Night View Spot, Sea View Ferris Wheel 'Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel.
⏰ Weekdays 10:00~21:00 // Weekends 10:00~22:00
📍 1 Chome-1-10 Kaigandori, Minato Ward, Osaka, 552-0022 Japan
💰 900 yen per person (e-pass not accepted)
Tempozan is located near the sea, offering a great view of both the sea and the city. I visited in the evening to see the night view, and it was even more impressive with the many bridge views nearby.
Since it's near the sea, the Ferris wheel can sway a bit when it's windy, which can be a bit scary, but at a height of 112.5 meters, the view is even more spectacular.
The higher you go, the more magnificent the view. I recommend seeing it with your own eyes as photos can't capture the full beauty.
The cost is 900 yen per person, and unfortunately, the Osaka e-pass does not include Tempozan.
Osaka's Photogenic Spot: Shinsekai Hondori Shopping Street
📍 2 Chome-5-1 Ebisuhigashi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka, 556-0002 Japan
📍 Namba Station ➡️ Tsutenkaku: ~20 minutes
Take the Midosuji Line from Namba Station and get off at Dobutsuen-mae Station. It's only a 10-minute subway ride, making it an easy place to visit.
Osaka's Tsutenkaku is a place where you can see a dazzling shopping street and tower. If you take pictures in the Shinsekai Hondori Shopping Street filled with colorful signs, you can capture the tower in your photos.
It's a popular photo spot, so there are usually many people taking pictures where the tower is visible. However, if you move a bit further away, you can find quieter spots to take your photos.
Tsutenkaku looks great during the day and even more spectacular at night thanks to its bright lights. It's highly recommended for those looking for photogenic spots in Osaka.

Hidden gems nearby Osaka
Imaicho.
Not far from Osaka there is a place that, as they say, has not changed since the Edo period - the same houses as in those days, the same streets, the administration monitors and renovates the houses.
We decided to combine a trip to the city of Nara with a visit to Imaicho and did not regret it at all.
You can do it yourself or find a guide on the Trip.com service.
We went on our own:
There is a direct train from Nara station to Unebi station, there is a tourist information center where you can get brochures and a map of the places.
I recommend visiting these places:
📌Tsuneoka Soy Sauce Brewery
📌Kawai sake brewery
📌Takagi Residence
📌Hanairaka Information Center
Entrance to the territory is free.
We walked alone, there was no one else there, we spent the best half of the day here that day)#imaicho #osakatrip #naratrip #japan
Impressive Lion Head at Namba Yasaka Shrine ⛩️
Just a few minutes walk away from popular shopping area Namba Parks by Namba station, Namba Yasaka Jinja is a small shrine hidden away in the big city of Osaka. It is home to Namba’s guardian deity~ it is believed that the lion has come to eliminate bad luck and drive away evil spirits. Many people come here to wish for good luck and pray for academic improvement.
The shrine is free to enter and doesn’t require a ticket. It is only a small area and the many tourists come to see the large lion head, a very popular spot for photos. The famous Lion Hall is 12 metres tall. It is said that the lion’s mouth swallows evil spirits.
At night time and during festivals, the lion’s eyes can be seen shining as one of the lights in the temple grounds. A very impressive sight to see! 🌟

Osaka's Japanese Cherry Blossom Spot: 'Osaka Castle Park'
📍1-1 Osakajo, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 540-0002 Japan
Osaka is renowned worldwide for its cherry blossom spots, and among them, Osaka Castle is famous for its cherry blossom trails. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, you can take a leisurely stroll while enjoying the abundance of cherry blossoms around Osaka Park. This place becomes especially popular during the cherry blossom season, so if you want to capture some stunning photos, it's recommended to visit in the morning.
Even without entering the main keep, you can enjoy the pink-filled cherry blossoms at the park located near Osaka Castle. Personally, I highly recommend visiting during the cherry blossom season.

Located in Parco in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, is the coolest store related to all things Studio Ghibli. The mall itself has entire floors dedicated to anime and cartoon characters with pop up shops and permanent stores.
As you enter this Ghibli Store, it feels like stepping into a fantasy world. Outside there are many well put together displays of merchandise and rare items, as well as greenery and plant pots with Totoro.
Inside the shop feels magical. There is a wide choice of items for sale, from almost all of the Ghibli movies. The most popular seem to be My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away! There is even a giant Totoro that you can take photos with.

The Incredible Super Nintendo World at USJ 🇯🇵
I’m so lucky I got to visit Super Nintendo World after it had opened. Located in Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, it is absolutely beyond expectations!
The official park opening time was 9:00am but I had read online they open the gates around 8:00am. I arrived just after 7:00am and secured my spot very close to the front of the queue. Amazingly, they did open the park early and it was a full on sprint to Super Nintendo World!
I didn’t have time to stop and take photos as I entered the land, and I barely even looked around. I was heading straight for Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge. This ride was wild. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. I managed to ride it two more times before 9:00am!!! I eventually managed to figure out what I was actually doing because the first ride was just so overwhelming with the VR headset.
Yoshi’s Adventure is a slower, much more chilled attraction that takes you around his kingdom and then outside to see the land from above. It’s very cute but I feel like they could’ve done more with this.
Throughout the land there are various character meet and greets. You can find Mario & Luigi, Toad and Princess Peach. There was always long lines to meet them!
‼️ If you arrive later, you are required to get a timed entry ticket to enter Super Nintendo World. I managed to get one of these on the day, and re entered the land later in the day!
🌟 I recommend making use of the Single Rider Line for the Mario Kart ride!!!

So Much Fun at Universal Studios Japan! 🇯🇵
Located in Osaka, Japan, I had the best day ever at Universal Studios Japan!
🍄 Super Nintendo World was definitely the highlight of my day! Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge is one of the most immerse, crazy rides I have ever been on. The whole land is a wild experience and I was literally in shock! Yoshi’s Adventure is a more chill ride that takes you slowly around the land and through his kingdom.
🪄 The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was exciting as always. I love how everyone buys a wand and dresses like they are a student at Hogwarts! My favourite part of this land is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction. I went in the single rider’s line to avoid the long queues!
🦕 Jurassic Park is a really cool area to explore. Not only does it have the water ride with a huge drop, there is also The Flying Dinosaur. This is a flying rollercoaster and I really enjoyed it!
🏎️ No Limit! Parade might be one of the best parades ever. I’m being serious. The variety of characters is great, but at one point they stop and it turns into a party! Everyone comes into the street and dances together! I loved it!
🎢 Hollywood Dream - The Ride is similar to Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, where you choose a song to listen to while you ride the coaster. But this one has two versions of the ride - one goes backwards!
Overall I had the best day at Universal Studios Japan and I can’t wait to go back again!

Review of Taking the Osaka Airport Express 'Rapi:t' from Kansai Airport to Namba Station
One of the main ways to get from Kansai Airport to downtown Osaka is the blue direct train called Rapi:t.
Rapi:t is a direct airport train that takes only 40 minutes to get from Kansai Airport to Namba, the heart of Osaka.
One of the advantages of Rapi:t is that you can purchase tickets in advance and reserve seats and times. There are two types of tickets: a physical ticket and an electronic QR ticket. I personally recommend using the QR electronic ticket.
Although the QR code updates every 5 minutes, which can be inconvenient as you need to activate it before passing through the ticket gate, it saves time at the airport since you don't need a physical ticket.
Especially, if you purchase an electronic ticket, you can change the seat and time up to two times, which is convenient if you need to adjust the time during immigration.
The cost is around 11,000 KRW per person, which is not expensive, so you can board without much burden.
Trains from Kansai Airport to Namba Station run every hour at 5 and 35 minutes past the hour, and trains from Namba Station to Kansai Airport run every hour on the hour and at 30 minutes past the hour.
With frequent schedules and reasonable prices, purchasing a Rapi:t ticket is a good option for those traveling from Kansai Airport to downtown Osaka.

'Okonomiyaki Kiji' located in Osaka Umeda is a local restaurant and teppanyaki specialty restaurant.
The menu is mainly teppanyaki, and it is a real restaurant with a waiting line even on weekdays. Since they take orders while you wait, the food comes out faster than you think, and the menus are guaranteed to be delicious because they are filled with plenty of ingredients.
Okonomiyaki Kiji is located on the first basement floor of Umeda Sky Building. If you go down the stairs connected from the outside, you will see the store in front.
The interior consists of tables for two, four, and a bar, and if you sit at the bar table, you can see the teppanyaki being made.
I think it would be good for those who are looking for a good okonomiyaki or yakisoba restaurant in Osaka.
