A Historic Marina : Jack London Square.
Jack London Square is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, offering a wide variety of restaurants, shopping, entertainment and recreational opportunities
Jack London Square is named after the celebrated author and adventurer who spent many years in the Bay Area. It was here in Oakland that he penned such classics as Call of the Wild and White Fang.
The history of Jack London Square begins with the California Gold Rush and the Port of Oakland (est. 1869). On this site, which was once home to a variety of shipping companies, warehouses and other maritime businesses, you can find several historic buildings still standing today.
From bowling to wine tasting, enjoy the many wonderful attractions at Jack London Square. Enjoy the peace of the waterfront, or head a few paces onshore and down European styled walkways to a booming bar and restaurant scene, including The Fat Lady, The Night Light and BBQ joint Everett & Jones. Music can be heard almost every night of the week at Yoshi’s, the famed spot in the Bay Area for jazz and dinner.
