Spring Awakens: A Scenic Journey on the Sagano Arashiyama Train
#japantrip #kyoto
Taking the Sagano Arashiyama Scenic Train on a beautiful spring day was a charming experience. Though the sakura were not yet in full bloom, their delicate pink buds, scattered among the fresh greenery, added a soft elegance to the landscape. The train meandered through the tranquil Hozugawa River Valley, offering glimpses of serene rivers, rugged cliffs, and quaint countryside vistas. With the warm spring sun streaming through the open windows, the journey felt refreshing and peaceful, as if nature was quietly waking up. Even without the peak cherry blossoms, the view was captivating, showcasing the gentle beauty of spring's early promise.
Morning Splendor at Kiyomizu-dera: Beauty Amidst the Crowds
#japantrip #kyoto
Visiting Kiyomizu-dera early in the morning, I expected a tranquil start to the day, but the temple was already bustling with activity. The soft morning light illuminated the iconic wooden stage, offering a stunning view of Kyoto’s cityscape framed by lush greenery. Despite the crowds, the serene atmosphere of the temple prevailed, with the faint scent of incense mingling with the crisp morning air. Visitors lined the pathways, some quietly admiring the beauty, while others eagerly capturing photos of the historic architecture and surrounding nature. Though it wasn’t the peaceful solitude I had envisioned, the lively energy of fellow travelers reminded me of how universally cherished this UNESCO World Heritage site truly is.
Spring Serenity Along the Katsura River

Strolling along the Katsura River at Arashiyama on a beautiful spring morning is an unforgettable experience. The calm waters reflect the clear blue sky, while cherry blossoms in full bloom line the riverbanks, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere. The gentle rustling of leaves and the soft chirping of birds add to the tranquility, making it feel like a scene straight out of a painting. Traditional wooden boats glide across the water, adding a touch of old-world charm to the landscape. As we walked along the riverside path, the fresh spring air and breathtaking views made the morning feel peaceful and rejuvenating—a perfect start to the day.
Golden Radiance in the Rain: Kinkaku-ji’s Timeless Beauty
#japantrip #kyoto
Visiting Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) in Kyoto on a gloomy, rainy day was a truly unforgettable experience. Despite the overcast skies and steady drizzle, the shimmering golden facade of the temple stood out brilliantly against the darkened surroundings. Raindrops created gentle ripples on the reflective Mirror Pond, adding a serene beauty to the scene, while mist hovered delicately over the surrounding lush gardens. The rain seemed to enhance the tranquility of the place, as fewer visitors braved the weather, allowing us to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Even under grey skies, Kinkaku-ji's timeless beauty remained undeniable, glowing like a treasure amidst nature.
A Rainy Spring Stroll Through Fushimi Inari Taisha
#japantrip #kyoto
Visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha on a rainy spring day was a magical experience. The soft drizzle created a serene atmosphere, with raindrops gently tapping on the vibrant red torii gates, enhancing their striking color against the lush greenery. The pathways glistened as puddles formed, reflecting the endless rows of gates. The misty air added an ethereal beauty to the climb, making the journey through the sacred trails feel almost otherworldly. As we walked, the quietness was broken only by the sound of rain and the occasional chirp of birds, adding to the peaceful charm. Despite the rain, the spirit of this ancient Shinto shrine shone through, making it a truly unforgettable visit.
This is why I love Kyoto so much ❤️

This Place, Rocks!
#Ryoanji #ZenTemple #kyoto
One of my favourite temples in Kyoto - it’s the only one I’ve been to every time I’ve set food in the city - and rightly so; whether it’s when the sakura trees are in full bloom, or when it ignites in autumn gold, Ryoanji is a space for calm contemplation and absolute relaxation. The 15 rocks that make up its masterful Zen garden are like planets in their own philosophical orbit - that is, they’re there for you to make of them as you wish. The surrounding gardens and lotus-filled lake are similarly breathtaking, so take a long, deep, cleansing breath, free your mind and just be for a moment or three. Hope you enjoy the experience!

Kyoto: tip to avoid crowds
The Arashiyama area in northwest Kyoto is on everyone's travel guide books and itineraries so expect it to be packed. However, if you explore the areas outside the bamboo forest and the shopping street, it is a bit quieter and you can enjoy nature in peace. Don't miss the nearby Tenryu-ji temple and Ogura Pond which aren't as packed with people.
On the east side of Kyoto is the Kiyomizudera area. Again, expect this place to be rammed. If you go early in the morning or later in the afternoon, you may be able to enjoy the surrounding areas such as the Shirakawa Canal which opens up its izakayas at night.#Kyoto #japan
A tour of Gion shrine 🇯🇵

Ten Check-in Kyoto Yasaka Shrine | Lantern Wall Ratio Check-in location: Kyoto Yasaka Shrine (Gion Shrine)
The best time to check in: early morning or evening, avoid crowds and enjoy the quiet time of the shrine.
Needle Punching Introduction:
1 A historic prayer resort
Yasaka Shrine is one of the most famous shrines in Kyoto. It has a history of more than 1,300 years and is also a holy place to pray for peace and good fate. Every year, countless tourists come to admire the fame. Whether it's for prayer or taking photos, this is a must-see scenic spot in Kyoto.
2 Shrine architecture and four-season beauty
The building complex of Yasaka Shrine is very traditional Japanese style, and the vermilion main hall is very eye-catching, especially in spring and autumn, which is beautiful against the backdrop of cherry blossoms and red leaves! The sunshine wine in the morning is in the shrine, which is quiet and sacred. A casual shot is a blockbuster!
3 Charming night view, especially suitable for couples If you want to experience a different Yasaka Shrine, you might as well come again at night. The shrine is brightly lit at night, which is particularly romantic. It is a good place for couples to take a walk at night. It is surrounded by the lively Gion Hanami Path, and you can also experience authentic Kyoto cuisine by the way.
C Tips for taking photos:
1. Lantern Wall Check-in | One of the most popular scenes
The iconic lantern wall of Yasaka Shrine is a photo spot that you must not miss!
It is recommended to clock in in the morning or evening, which can not only avoid crowds, but also take exclusive photos.

Two. The vermilion architecture is perfectly integrated with the sky.
In architectural photography, it is recommended to capture the contrast between the building and the blue sky, and take a panoramic picture with a wide-angle lens or mobile phone, which can show the magnificence and delicacy of Yasaka Shrine.
Standing under the torii and taking photos on your back is also a photo angle worth trying!
3. Stone lantern corridor under the mottled shadows of trees
The stone lantern path gives people an ancient and quiet feeling, which can be photographed with backlight to capture the sunlight through the leaf wine on the lanterns and the mottled light and shadow on the ground.
This composition is especially suitable for taking retro or static healing photos.
Recommendation of surrounding food:
After visiting the shrine, you can visit the nearby Gion shopping street, which is full of snack stalls! I especially recommend matcha ice cream and glutinous rice

Nakamura Tokichi Shijo Store
Visit Nakamura Tokichi Shijo Store in Kyoto Takashimaya, Japan. Although I didn't visit the main store this time, I was still captivated by the aroma and taste of their green tea desserts. Their matcha desserts, especially the matcha parfait, are a must-try. There are also many matcha souvenirs available outside the store.
The staff are very polite and provide excellent service. You can order food using a QR code, and the staff will serve you a pot of freshly brewed hot green tea to enjoy.
I chose a special parfait, and the top layer of gyokuro was amazing. The combination of ingredients below created a refreshing taste. I also tried the seasonal tea jelly, which was delicious.
If you pass by and feel tired, I highly recommend stopping by for a taste. It's a must-try on the Kyoto food list!

One Of The Most Famous Rock Gardens in Japan 🪨
#goingplaces
The Zen rock garden at Ryoan-ji Temple in Kyoto is one of the most iconic examples of kare-sansui (dry landscape) gardens in Japan. The garden consists of 15 stones arranged in a sea of meticulously raked gravel, meant to symbolize mountains, water, and other natural elements. The layout is designed to evoke contemplation, and the arrangement of the stones is meant to inspire the viewer’s imagination—yet paradoxically, no matter where you sit, one stone remains hidden, symbolizing the imperfection or the unknown.
