Walking through the Kimono Forest in Arashiyama felt like stepping into an enchanted world. The vibrant cylindrical pillars, adorned with traditional kimono fabric, created a stunning path that glowed softly at dusk. Each design seemed to tell a story of Japanese artistry. Lost in Arashiyama’s Magical Bamboo Forest!
Walking through Arashiyama Bamboo Forest was truly magical. The towering bamboo stalks reached high into the sky, creating a green tunnel that seemed to stretch forever. As I walked along the path, the sunlight filtered softly through the leaves, making everything around me glow in shades of green. It was like stepping into another world.
The gentle rustling of the bamboo in the breeze was calming, and every few steps, I had to stop and take it all in. The views were absolutely stunning. I couldn’t resist capturing photos at every turn; the sight of the endless bamboo rows was mesmerizing.
Being there, surrounded by nature’s beauty, felt peaceful and refreshing. Arashiyama Bamboo Forest isn’t just a place to visit; it’s an experience that stays with you. It’s a must-see for anyone who loves nature and a bit of magic in their travels!

Kyoto on a day I miss.. Tenryuji Temple
#VisitKyoto Kyoto on the day I miss it.. Tenryuji Temple
Tenryuji Temple is located in the Arashiyama area, near the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, which is popular among tourists. It is currently registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you come to the bamboo forest, stop by this temple for a bit. It will be even more beautiful when the leaves are fully changing.
I sat down and looked back at the photos of my trip to Japan that I took when I went to Kyoto. I thought, "Wow, those photos are beautiful." To be honest, I was annoyed at that time because it was raining and then there was a storm, so my plans were shelved. When I went back to open the folder to look at the photos I took again, it wasn't that bad that day. It gave me a warm feeling from the autumn leaves season, while at the same time, it gave me a lonely feeling from the continuous rain.
How to get there: Get off at Saga Arashiyama Station by train, take bus no. 11,28,93 and get off at Arashiyama Tenryuji Mae stop.

Arashiyama Bamboo Forest: A Serene Escape in Kyoto 🎋

The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, located on the outskirts of Kyoto, is one of Japan’s most iconic and tranquil natural landscapes. As you walk through the towering bamboo groves, the soft rustling of the bamboo stalks in the breeze creates a peaceful and almost otherworldly atmosphere. The pathways are lined with endless bamboo stretching upwards, offering a serene and calming escape from the bustling city.
The forest is also near several other attractions in the Arashiyama district, including the Tenryu-ji Temple and the Togetsukyo Bridge, making it a perfect destination for a full day of exploration. Cutest shop in arashiyama
Arashiyama is one of my favourite places in Kyoto for several reasons. Food and shopping being amongst them. While food is delicious and cute, I think back in Kyoto town you could find similar things for a better price. This one time as I was headed back in the evening. I was making my way to the bus stop. I came across this cute shop called miffy Sakura kitchen.
And needless to say it was filled with miffy and miffy and miffy. Lots ofnl bakery items and basically everything miffy. Naturally, I couldn't leave until I've seen every sily thing in this shop. An hour later with a bunch of silliest purchases I happily headed home. So if you are miffy or kawaai crazy as I am, don't miss this one!

Arashiyama is located about 30 minutes from the center of Kyoto. With its mountains and rivers, it’s often regarded as one of the most beautiful places to see the scenery in Kyoto. Save this guide for your next visit!

Exploring the Heart of Kyoto
I wanted to share some highlights from my adventure!
Kyoto Downtown: The energy of Kyoto downtown is something else—it's a perfect blend of the traditional and the modern. I wandered through the bustling streets filled with shops, restaurants, and historic architecture. Nishiki Market was a sensory overload (in the best way possible) with its endless rows of stalls selling fresh seafood, local sweets, and unique souvenirs. If you’re a foodie, this place is heaven!
Fushimi Inari: No trip to Kyoto is complete without visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha, and it did not disappoint. The iconic torii gate-lined paths are even more breathtaking in person. I decided to hike up to the summit, and the journey through the thousands of gates was both peaceful and invigorating. The views from the top were worth every step—seeing the city below framed by vibrant red gates was unforgettable.
Arashiyama: Arashiyama was like stepping into a different world. The bamboo grove was as serene as I imagined, with towering stalks creating a natural sanctuary. I also visited the Tenryu-ji Temple, where the meticulously maintained gardens offered a moment of tranquility. Walking along the Togetsukyo Bridge, with the Katsura River and the lush mountains in the background, was the perfect way to end the day.
Kyoto is a city that captures your heart with its beauty, history, and culture. If you ever get the chance to visit, take it—you won't regret it!

Ine Tofu rice is located opposite the Teneyu-ji Temple and near to the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama.
Ever since 30 years ago, it has been well-known with its Tofu cuisine, and nowadays, it is even more popular as there will be long queue all the time the moment they open their shop daily.
The price range of a tofu set is between JPY 1700 to JPY 2100. Quite expensive but considering it is in the famous tourist spots and they are using their own local premium tofu, it is still worth to have a try.

Scenic place by the lake at Arashiyama during Autumn.
You can rent Kimono from nearby shops and explore a few photo spots around the area. The bamboo forest is also walking distance away.
Will recommend to come early as it can be quite crowded in the day especially the bamboo forest.
There are also some cafes/ temples near the area that are good for chilling. We went to a small temple to enjoy a cup of matcha green tea while getting some photos.

Explore Arashiyama like a local
If you asked me where is the most memorable place in Japan? I would say it's Arashiyama in Kyoto. I know it's a bit touristy, especially during Spring and Autumn. But Arashiyama is not only about the bamboo forest. If you explore more surrounding area, you would find Arashiyama is more than that. A friend of mine recommend me to explore Arashiyama by bike. She said you would feel like in Doraemon's life. The ambience and people were really nice. Go to Katsura River, there's a famous coffee shop nearby. I grab a cup of coffee and take a seat by the river, just to watch people passing by with their pets. Sometimes a boat coming by and the boat man will say hi to you. That's a heart-warming experience.

Arashiyama Monkey park- Nice views
Nice monkey park, steep climb uphill about 20 mins from the entrance to get to the top. Worth the climb as the views are great and the monkeys were entertaining. Always hungry and loves to be fed. Quite harmless and will not attack or come close as long as you don’t maintain eye contact. Has a small playground for kids as well and a toilet up on top and a cooling room after the long climb. #arashiyama

"Moon crossing bridge" 😌
The Togetsukyo Bridge is Arashiyama's well known landmark. The name was given to the bridge by Emperor Kameyama who saw a radiant moon shine its light over the river, as a result it appeared as if the moon was crossing over the entire bridge.
There are many shops, restaurants and tourist attractions nearby, like the famous bamboo groves. And don't forget to try the matcha ice cream! My favorite 🥰
🌟Access- from Kyoto station take the JR Sagano line and get off Saga-Arashiyama station, from here it is about 10 minutes on foot. The train is fully covered by the JR Pass.
You can also ride bus line 28 that departs from Kyoto station and stops at Arashiyama-Tenryuji-mae bus stop. This bus is included in the Kyoto day bus pass, but not the JR Pass.

Arashiyama is the second-most important sightseeing district in Kyoto. It’s filled with temples and shrines, but the star attraction is the famed Arashiyama Bamboo Grove.
