Last time, I went to Elephant Castle to meet a friend, and we decided to meet again at Pot&Rice! The newly introduced Lobster Rice is incredible—it’s a whole lobster, with fresh, bouncy shrimp meat and generous ingredients. So delicious! I had the Sausage and Chicken Claypot Rice. The egg was mashed and mixed into the rice, the sausage had a sweet flavor, and the chicken was super tender. When combined with the sauce, the rice was full of flavor. The Crispy Fried Oysters are something I always have! After frying, the surface is incredibly crispy. When you bite into it, you get to enjoy the smooth and tender oyster inside—no fishy taste at all! The Garlic Oyster Sauce Lettuce was really fresh, and the garlic fragrance was just perfect! A few of them were slightly overcooked on the surface. Beef Shoulder: The beef has a hint of red wine seasoning, which makes it really flavorful. It's easy to cut and tastes great. Roasted Cauliflower: Ever since I discovered how to roast cauliflower, I’ve fallen in love with it. The veggies aren’t too dry, with a bit of a charred aroma and some creamy base at the bottom. Last time, I went to a restaurant near Soho with some friends—the dim lighting and ambiance were 💯! . Burrata: I almost always order Burrata, but I didn’t expect this one to be so large. The olive oil at the base was incredibly fragrant, and it paired perfectly with the bread—so delicious! Mortadella: Thinly sliced but served in generous portions. It’s great with the bread! Capesante Scottate: The moment I saw these scallops, I was intrigued, and they did not disappoint! The scallops were super fresh, topped with a crispy crumble that added a nice crunch. Due to the pandemic, tables are separated by glass panels with a butterfly pattern design. The menu is embedded in the glass dividers, making for a safe and thoughtful arrangement. Bread Basket The highlight was a tomato-flavored bread—red in color and subtly flavored with tomato. Dipped in olive oil, it had a unique and pleasant taste. Bassiano Ham This ham had a strong smoky flavor, which added depth without being overpowering. Guancia di Maiale Slow-braised pork cheek was richly flavorful, tender, and well-cooked. The dish was served with a beef-based sauce that had a hint of wine, paired with mashed potatoes, making each bite irresistible. Seabass The fish itself was quite mild, but the accompanying arugula salad was intensely salty. Some salt was sprinkled on the ends of the fish, catering to those who prefer a stronger flavor. Akatuki Covent Garden is a newly opened Japanese restaurant with an excellent location, just a short walk from the tube station. The interior is clean and elegant, with great lighting. Almost every table was ordering the wagyu hot pot, where the ingredients are prepped beforehand and added to the broth in sequence—wagyu, vegetables, and more. The tempura prawns were perfectly fried, with a super crispy coating and fresh shrimp inside—absolutely delicious! The scallops were impressively fresh and large, paired with cherry tomatoes for a refreshing taste. The scallops were so tender and flavorful! Avobar is such a great spot, and they’ve recently opened a new location in Marylebone! We visited on Boxing Day, and it wasn’t too crowded, so sitting outside was really pleasant. The cake had a unique taste—super refreshing! I had an Americano, served in their signature bright and colorful mug, which was absolutely adorable. They also offer a variety of juices in vibrant colors, giving off a healthy vibe! This location on Baker Street is said to have the best service of all their branches. Xiao Long Bao The dumplings have thin skins and are full of juicy broth, offering a truly authentic taste. The meat is plentiful and incredibly flavorful. Black Gold Lava Bun This dim sum has been highly praised, and while it’s good, it’s not quite as mind-blowing. However, the molten filling and texture are still quite impressive. Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice (Nuomi Ji) A small portion, but the chicken is very flavorful, and the sticky rice is soft and satisfying—truly comforting. Stir-Fried Beef Ho Fun Not part of the dim sum menu, but worth mentioning—this dish is oily without being greasy, with a generous amount of beef. Phoenix Claws and Spare Ribs These are best eaten while still hot.
