Between the 2nd to the 10th centuries, Hoi An was a bustling seaport of the Champa Kingdom. Both My Son and Hoi An within its bounds, the Quang Nam province once belonged to the Champa King. A dispute arose between the Champa kingdom and Vietnam broke out, and between the 14th and 15th centuries Hoi An was the bone of contention. Vietnam claimed that a former Champa King has granted this area to Vietnam as gift for his marrying of a Vietnamese princess. His successor refused to honor the terms, thus causing a century-long fight. Peace finally came. Beginning in the 15th century, Hoi An became an international trading port that thrived by the Thu Bon River. This encouraged the presence of the world’s trading nations in Hoi An, including the Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, Indians, British, French, American and more. The Chinese and Japanese traders were particularly prominent in Hoi An. They have left a presence by the many beautiful structures that stand to this day. Ancestral halls, temples, traders’ assembly, and all kinds of infrastructures are testaments to the city’s roots as a trading port and the international character that followed. Indeed, these structures are well-preserved as the UNESCO has decreed some eight hundred historical buildings in Hoi An as protected heritage. he Thu Bon River was Hoi An’s life line. Until the late 19th century, when it silted. Hoi An’s fate thus turned upside down as the sea and river entries to trading closed. The female receptionist was very nice and addressed all our concerns and provided lots of recommendations to us. Hotel also provided SPA Massage and nearby tour packages arrangements with reasonable price.

To go with it, I had a rare cheesecake—smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Although it’s dominated by French colonial buildings, you can also find a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese influences in its architecture. No wonder it’s become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s indeed a very beautiful place. This city is one of the most romantic places I’ve ever been. The city’s lantern-lit streets at night are straight out of a dream. Walking along the river, with the warm glow of the lanterns reflecting off the water, was pure magic. We had a lovely January trip to Hoi An in Vietnam. In the recent years a lot of my travels have a lot of activities and I love to experience as much as possible in a short amount of time. For this trip to Hoi An we had a very flexible schedule because we also wanted to enjoy the sun as much as possible. We were super lucky with the weather and spent most of our time relaxing on the beach. 🏨 We stayed at Aira Boutique hotel. Some friends had recommended this hotel just a few meters from An Bang Beach and we were so happy here. The hotel also had two swimming pools. 🏝️ An Bang Beach. Just a stroll from our hotel there were this amazing beach. Along the beach there are several lounge clubs that offer sun beds and chairs if we order something from their menu. We fell in love with this place called Seoul Kitchen. The staff was amazing, foods and drinks were all good. 🛶 Basket boat ride. This was one of the highlights on the trip and one of the few activities we did during our stay in Hoi An. Just a 15 min taxi ride from the hotel. We went to Basket boat cafe to have a coffee first and then they helped us arrange a boat. Super cool and nice experience. 🏮 One of the other activities we did was to go to the old town of Hoi An in the evening. Super nice with lanterns and opertunity to do boat rides on the river. Tips: for traveling in 🇻🇳 we downloaded the Grab app. We mainly used the app for transportation like an Uber. This town, even tho spoked highly of, is absolutely underrated because no words can describe it! 😍 Every corner of it is unreal! I believe fairytales are made inspired by Hoi An! Absolutely magical 🪄 Hoi An is filled with lanterns and in the night streets are filled with colours and warmth. Great energy! 🥹 There is lots along amazing street foo, bars and entertainment. You can rent a bicycle and get anywhere is a short amount of time. My favourite was a ride by the rice fields. That road leads to the beach. I travelled in January so the weather was not greatest for swimming, however it was nice to have a walk and lunch there. 3-4 days are enough to go around. Hoi An is a charming town, and a perfect day trip from Danang. Hoi An is famous for its market, boat rides, and of course all the silk lanterns that decorate pretty much everything in town. My friends and I arrived about two hours before sunset. What gave us a good amount of time to stroll around the shopping streets and to see local places of interest before the darkness. Hoi An is a good place to buy souvenirs, and see all sorts of local crafts. Many temples, old houses and bridges are also worth stopping by and having a closer look. I personally love old architecture, so I really enjoyed seeing all that beauty. After spending a good amount of time at the market, we went for a boat ride. And I think the best way to do it is to get a boat for the sunset, so it's possible to have a look at the Riverside during the daylight, and then in the darkness. #internationaltravel #vietnam #hoian

Hoi An is a small charming town nearby Danang city. The main action there starts after sunset. Hoi An is famous for traditional silk lanterns that local lit at night. There are so many of the lights everywhere. The entire embankment, all the restaurants, every single boat is decorated with the lanterns... it feels like in a fairytale! I took a boat ride after sunset, then went for a dinner at a place with a beautiful terrace, and then grabbed a drink while staring at the Riverside and watched all the lanterns in the boats. This tiny place is an absolute gem! There is just a couple of tables, and the owner - a sweet lady who was sort of shy, but so so pleasant! Ice cream was rich and delicious, it's really felt like they use fresh fruits and not just artificial flavoring. Hidden in between houses accessible by a small ally , a two floor restaurant with a a very delicious variety of modern and visually appealing dishes. Everything else we had tasted was great but the waffle has made a lasting memory. I wish i’d more more days in Hue. Avocado toast was great (i added bacon, which comes on an another plate), espresso was so good. Absolutely loved the food, the atmosphere, and the location. Really bring out the vibes of this unique cafe. '68 wartime kind of vibe. I really like the overall atmosphere at this cafe. Beside the usual coffee menu they're also selling mercendize. Ordered for a coconut coffee which too sweet for me. The ambiance is enhanced by the soothing sounds of old-time jazz music, making it a perfect setting to enjoy a meal and unwind. This quaint little resto café is quite charming. Rosie's Cafe offers excellent coffee and a superb healthy breakfast menu. Their rich, smooth coffee pairs perfectly with delicious options like fresh smoothie bowls and avocado toast. That was honestly the best avocado on toast I’ve ever had outside of Europe. Full of flavour, seasoned properly. The sourdough bread was unbelievable. The majority of tables are outside, but there is adequate shade and ventilation to make it a good dining experience.
