#koreatrip #jeju #seongsanilchulbong
Climbing up Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) for sunset is a breathtaking experience, offering a unique perspective of this UNESCO World Heritage site. As the sun dips toward the horizon, the golden light bathes the volcanic crater and surrounding landscapes, creating a magical, almost otherworldly atmosphere. The hike, though steep at moments, is manageable and well worth the effort, as each step brings more stunning views of the coastline and Jeju’s rolling hills. Reaching the summit, the panoramic vistas are unforgettable, with the ocean glowing in the fading sunlight and the island’s charm spread out below. It’s a serene and awe-inspiring way to end the day.
🇰🇷 Exploring Seongeup Folk Village: A Step Back in Time
#koreatrip
Seongeup Folk Village, nestled on Jeju Island, offers a glimpse into traditional Korean life with its well-preserved structures, dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. The village showcases thatched roofs, stone walls, and stone statues, reflecting the region's unique culture. Historically, Seongeup was a center of governance and culture in Jeju, with many local residents still living in the village.
We visited in the late evening, which gave us the chance to walk through the village and admire its beauty, though no performances or folk activities were happening at that time. Still, the atmosphere was rich with history and charm.

Fancy a coffee!
At Hyeopjea Beach there are hoards of stylish coffee shops to choose from here are 4 we tried… Price guide for an Americano approx ₩5000-₩6000
Beryl (pics 1-6)
Beautifully styled coffee shop. Tucked away by the sea. Great place to watch the sunset. You can step out of the glass door and walk across the rocks down to the little coves.
Inside the small space has been made to feel much bigger with mirrored circular ceiling feature and floor to ceiling windows. There are a number of small seating areas. Nice music and the sound of coffee being made.
The cakes were delicious, recommend the mandarin flavoured cheesecake. We paid £15 for two coffees and cakes, not bad!
Nice sheltered outside seating options available, but it was pretty cold the day we visited so opted for indoors.
Slab coffee (pics 7-9)
On the second floor of a multi-story building, overlooking the ocean.
This coffee shop was my favourite for atmosphere, subdued lighting and relaxing music. Retro mugs were a unique feature and the seats and seating areas comfy.
The staff were friendly and took pleasure in making a nice coffee. Lots of coffee options available.
Comma (pics 10-14)
Popular beach-side coffee shop with two floors of indoor seating plus roof seating.
If you want insta photos this is the coffee shop for you! Feature window frame outside main door. First floor has a wooden swing and netted bed areas which frame the island and ocean.
The amount of people bustling around trying to get the perfect photo distracted from a relaxing coffee break. Another negative on the day we visited was the Japanese pop music, which got a bit repetitive after a while.
The americano was good and a huge mug so great value for money.
WiFi only works on the ground floor.
Besunroo (pics 15-16)
Down a side street away from the main town, overlooking the sea facing east.
Large spacious coffee shop with feature windows. Friendly staff, reasonably priced. The coffee was nice but not overly memorable. Nice place to sit and work.
They sell a few souvenirs too.
We visited mid November, I imagine the view would be even more stunning in the summer sun!

Hiking trip to the highest mountain of South Korea
#korea #jeju #hiking ##hallasan #hallasanmountain
This summer I had a trip to Jeju and had a chance to climb the highest peak of South Korea. The trip was really nice. I started at 5am and took the bus to the starting point of the
I took the way up Seongpanak trail and plan to go down Gwaneumsa Trail. It’s required to register online before since you need the qr code to pass the gate up there. They don’t want people to go down late.
The open time is around 7am and it took me about 4 hours to reach the peak. Weather was nice and for the most parts it was through the forest so not too hot. The view at the top was amazing and I got some sunshine. It’s quite interesting to see people enjoying ramen there. Korean brought the hot pack to cook ramen. I enjoyed my kimbab from CU store that I bought before taking the bus there.
The way down was a bit tiring but I managed to finish before 3pm. You could buy a certificate at the way out for 1000won as well.
I enjoyed the hike a lot.

🇰🇷 Best Abalone Restaurant on Jeju Island
One of the best meals we had on Jeju Island was at Myeongjin Jeonbok Abalone Restaurant, located on the northeastern coast near Seongsan Ilchulbong. Known for its exquisite abalone dishes made with fresh, locally sourced abalone, the restaurant offers a menu of just four main dishes: abalone sizzling stone pot rice (dolsot bap), abalone rice porridge, grilled abalone, and sliced raw abalone. We enjoyed each dish, as the abalone was tender and flavorful.

A Sunset Café on the West Side of Jeju Island
This café is perfect for photos and is a great spot to visit after seeing the windmill attractions. You can relax and wait for the sunset here.
There are both indoor and outdoor seating areas, and you can even have a windmill as your background! You can take photos from 5:30 PM until it gets dark without any issues.
The chocolate cake we wanted to try was sold out by sunset, so we had to order the remaining desserts, which turned out to be unexpectedly delicious! The coffee was also quite good.
The entire décor has an industrial style, and even after using the restroom, you can't resist taking a selfie, haha.
Beautiful
The seating is arranged so each table gets a great view of the large glass windows showing off the sea . Zen Hideaway restaurant is a lively Italian and Thai restaurant with great views of the ocean. It's not a fusion menu between Italian and Thai.
They just offer two separate menu sections specializing in each, which is great if you're a fan of both cuisines. It's not cheap, but has a varied menu (try the beef salad) and even some Thai options (their pad kee mow, or drunken noodles, aren't half bad). Excellent drinks selection including a few beers, wines, and a good mojito, and you can't beat the view. When the weather is nice, there's a great rooftop bar too.

Café by the beach
Highend cafe is very well located. It's a good place to relax with the views of the sea. Here you get a cafe, bakery, coffee roasting with a picturesque sandy outdoor seating. The area is overlooking black volcanic rocks and oceanside. Good quality pastries but at a premium price, which is common with these cafes that have a view. You can order from the menu at the kiosk.
Available in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Having said so the offerings are average. The coffee and bakery are nothing special, and you can relax while looking at the sea. It's kind of crowded during the peak season, so it's hard to enjoy a quiet time here.
