A Summer Afternoon at Vilnius Castle: Panoramic Views of Old Town Charm
#europetrip #lithuania #vilnius
Visiting the Vilnius Castle Complex on a beautiful summer afternoon was an unforgettable experience. Perched atop a hill, the complex offers breathtaking panoramic views of Vilnius Old Town, with its red-tiled rooftops, church spires, and winding streets stretching out below. The gentle summer breeze made the climb feel refreshing, and the clear blue skies added to the beauty of the scene. The castle’s remnants, including the iconic Gediminas’ Tower, stand as a proud symbol of Lithuania’s rich history, blending seamlessly with the surrounding greenery. Standing at the top, we were captivated by the serene and picturesque landscape, making it the perfect place to soak in the charm and heritage of Vilnius.
Trakai Castle: A Fairytale Fortress Amidst History and Water
#europetrip #lithuania #trakai
Trakai Castle, with its enchanting location on an island in the middle of Lake Galvė, feels like a fairytale brought to life. Built in the 14th century, it shares architectural similarities with the impressive Malbork Castle, both constructed in the Gothic style by the Teutonic Knights. Trakai’s red brick walls and towers reflect the turbulent history between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Teutonic Order, making it a site of both beauty and historical significance. Visiting in July, despite the crowds, was a wonderful experience. The strong breeze across the lake added a refreshing touch as we enjoyed the sight of the shimmering water surrounding the castle, enhancing its magical appearance. Its strategic yet serene location, surrounded by water, truly sets Trakai Castle apart as one of Europe’s most captivating fortresses.
A Panoramic Journey Above Vilnius
Gediminas Castle, perched atop a hill in Vilnius, offers stunning autumn views of the city. Access it via a short hike or take the funicular for an easy ride up. The tower provides a 360-degree panorama of Vilnius’ vibrant fall foliage, red-tiled roofs, and the meandering Neris River. Inside, explore exhibits showcasing the city’s history.
Visit just before sunset for a golden view over the Old Town. It’s a must-see for history buffs and photographers, especially in the enchanting colors of autumn. Best sunsets are from the above. #travel #Gediminas #castle #panoramic #vilnus #lithuania

Vilnius, a city steeped in history
Lithuania was the first Soviet republic to declare independence from the Soviet Union. Therefore, when I was in Poland and decided to visit the Baltic countries, I should have started in Lithuania, the southernmost and largest of them. Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is built at the confluence of the Vilnia and Neris rivers and is located almost in the center of the country. A trip to Vilnius will immerse you in history.
I traveled from Katowice (Poland) to Vilnius on June 8, 2023 with Felixbus for 29 euros.
Best places to visit:
Old Town, St. Anne’s Church, Hill of Three Crosses, Vilnius Cathedral, Gate of Dawn and Gediminas Tower

#vilnius Town Hall Square was built in 1387 when #lithuania became a Christian state and Vilnius was granted Magdeburg rights. Thus, there appeared a need for headquarters for the city authorities. As the main square of the city was located here, it was decided to build the Town Hall in the same place.

#fallishere woke up bright and early to catch some fresh air at Vingis Parkas in Vilnius Lithuania! The rustling of the leaves with each step amidst the quietness was so so calming and therapeutic. The bright and vibrant fall colours made the park look especially beautiful :) it’s said that fall is shortest season of the year, so be sure to catch the view before it’s gone 🧡 #lithuania #park

Nights and Lights of Kaunas
I traveled from Rome to Kaunas 1 weeks ago. I really never felt in love night walks, but in Kaunas and its lights made me to find different feelings down the streets. I started going for a walk every night. Without exception. On snowy, sometimes rainy nights, one can feel mild chilly wind during the walk. Actually, Lithuania is a northern European country. It made Lithuania way colder, but if one wears warm clothes, cold will never be a problem for. If you are planning to visit Lithuania,Kaunas then never forget to take hand cream, snow gloves, warm socks and an important thing-thermos.If you have any question about Kaunas, comment below ! Enjoy !
