Weizhou Island e Bay Sea View No.1 Hotel

Weizhou South Island
Get this hotel!!! We were supposed to stay for a night and then decide what to do - we ended up staying 3 nights and were very sad to leave. Every so often when you travel your hotel experience significantly improved your holiday - this was one of those cases! First of all the basics, we were looking for a nice family friendly hotel walking distance from the beach - and this certainly fit that category. The rooms are fine, you could see the sea from the windows, comfortable beds, pretty clean, slippers, plenty of towels, wifi everywhere etc. There was also a small playground for small kids and hammocks (picture) etc which was cool, we also saw mahjong tables, but didn't have the time to play. The hotel is located near a fairly large field, filled with exotic birds, butterflies and crickets etc. There were also geckos everywhere (love them), but we didn't see any inside the room. There were some mosquitos outside on the terrace (don't love them), but the repellent took care of those and we didn't have any in our rooms. Felt like you were near nature, in a good way. The kids loved to play on the beach, it's great for sand castles (the hotel had buckets and shovels free of charge) and searching for crabs, fish, shells, sea snails etc... The moms loved it too, especially to walk around and explore during low tide. (the hotel also provided equipment to catch crabs and other sea creatures etc if you wanted to - they also had a service to cook them for you) We especially enjoyed playing under a nearby pier during low tide to avoid getting badly sunburned. The supermarket across the street sell dozens of single malt whiskys and beer from all over the world (they also have ice cream and other stuff) - and the dads recommend the roof terrace for that after the kids are asleep. (picture) If you know how to ride a scooter/ebike they rent them across the road too, and it's the best way to explore the island. The small roads (almost devoid of cars) were awesome to drive on, just remember to stay safe. I don't usually care much about breakfast, but the included breakfast was great! (picture) The kitchen staff was also super laid-back about the whole thing - this whole hotel radiated a very laid back tropical island feel that made you forget you were in China. However the reason I write this review is because of the owner. (last picture) (I'm not sure if he speaks English though, but I'm sure you'll manage) Super chill guy! Immediately after booking he contacted us to arrange the transport from the boat. He helped us buy tickets for the trip back. He was willing to come and pick us up at any time if we got lost on the island. He had great recommendations about basically everything, and whenever we made plans we were sure to ask for his advice. He was basically always reachable over wechat too. These are just some of the things that he didn't have to provide, but did (or offered): unlimited cold drinking water, ice, proper glasses, a coffee grinder, buckets, shovels, hats, umbrellas, sunscreen, aloe vera plants, flashlights, mosquito repellent etc etc and it feels like we only scratched the surface. It feels like whenever I asked him for something he always had a solution that exceeded my expectations. Great host! I've traveled to almost 100 countries and while this wasn't the fanciest hotel I've stayed in by any means, this was one of the most memorable hotel experiences I've ever had. If anyone I know plans to visit this island I will for sure recommend this place.

West Street Block
Was slightly concerned about noise levels reported here but had no issues with that, though room was on the second floor on the restaurant/street side of the building. Simple but appealing room with balcony. All the bathroom fixtures etc worked well. It's a nice guesthouse, not an urban 5-star establishment, so the 5 stars I have left for the facilities are with that proviso in mind; I don't think there was an elevator, for instance. Ate early at the hotel restaurant on the terrace just outside its entrance and very much enjoyed the food--good variety, cooked well. (Unexpectedly, the restaurant was booked full the next morning with a large tour group of some sort, so grabbed a bowl of mifen at a nearby breakfast place instead.) The real reason for leaving this review is to convey my pleasure with the helpfulness of the staff. The English-speaking women manning the reception desks were gone for the day when all power in the building cut out around 11pm. The night manager at the front desk informed me that the entire city was without power, and nothing of this nature had occurred in the past few years. (I went down to check because some hotels in China economize by turning AC off during the night, but it was clear that all power was out for the entire neighborhood at least.) He then kindly handled over a portable power bank for my phone when I mentioned it was running low. Back in bed in the dark I then got an unexpected text that my flight from Guilin to Shanghai the next night had been canceled. Wondering why, the front desk staff told me that heavy storms were expected. This would mean that all other flights would be cancelled too, and anyone like me who had to be elsewhere would be scrambling for any remaining seats the following day. At this point I was worried, as I had an international flight to catch. Remembering the train station not far outside Yangshuo, I asked about train options, and that was when a young woman who works at the hotel named Xiao Yang 小楊 came to my rescue. She pulled out her cell phone, checked the train schedules for me, gave me a couple options, recognized that only a handful of tickets remained on a high-speed rail train leaving from Guilin around midday and arriving in Shanghai before my canceled flight would have arrived. She used our passport info to book me two tickets on the train (fronting what must have been her monthly salary to do so, no questions asked, for which I immediately reimbursed her--download and validate Alipay before arriving in China folks, it's an essential tool). Took a car to the Guilin north rail station the next morning, made some fast friends in the waiting hall, and was then on the way to Shanghai before the storms hit. 小楊's willingness to drop everything and care about the travel woes of a random guest like me allowed me to totally avoid the nightmare of rebooking flights and hotels amid a scrum of other travelers to make it to Shanghai in time. Power came back on at 2am, I returned the power bank in the morning, and Xiao Yang was nowhere to be found. So thank you Xiao Yang, and thank you to the Riverview Hotel for employing people who care about their guests.

Longji Terraced Field-Ping'An Zhuang Village
Had an incredible stay here! The views are stunning (probably one of the best out of all the other accommodations nearby), the room was clean and the service was friendly. It's a family owned business and everyone is lovely. If you're taking a bus, it won't drop you all the way to the hotel but if you give the hotel a call, someone can come pick you up from the bus stop. I had a bit of a miscommunication with my previous hotel who arranged a coach for us that dropped us off at a very far away drop off point and someone still came and picked us up from there with no complaints (and did not charge us for it)!! We were also dropped back off at the bus stop on the day we left. No one spoke much English which made it a little harder, but we got by with a translator app. There are quite a few stairs to go up to get to the hotel which isn't great if you have lots of heavy luggage so I'd recommend packing lightly if possible. Having said that, if you have average fitness, you should be fine getting up and down the stairs, the trek is not too long. The views are definitely worth it! Would stay again for sure.

Truthfully, I am having time finding words, and that's unusual for me. I must admit I was disappointed when Yangshuo Mountain Retreat cancelled my booking because of a wedding that had booked the place, but the photos of the garden sold me. I've been to Yangshuo perhaps five times over the last 10 years, and have stayed in every kind of place there-from a cheap hostel to the boutique rooms but my dream was to stay at YMR, where I always stop and have a whiskey by the river. When we pulled into Liqui Town, I realized I had not explored this part of the valley and was disoriented. But then the staff greeted us, carried in our bags, gave us tea, peanuts, and oranges, and set to taking care of our every need. They were this way with us from start to finish-sending us off with a bag of fresh mandarin oranges and hugs-and a promise to send an invoice for our remaining expenses-which we still have not gotten! Apart from the wonder of just those details, the food was exquisite, our farmhouse room was stylish and simple yet so thoroughly Chinese-in the most real and unassuming way. It was an honor and a pleasure to sip tea in the farmhouse and look at the many woodcut posters and Chinese propaganda songs on the walls while staring up from the tea table to the simply elegant clay tile roof resting on the original beams, feeling the mud bricks breathe out their history silently under a soft rain and the early crows of the neighborhood roosters. I If one is quiet and still, I believe this little gem will give up her secrets, her history, and the story and true feeling of old-time village life amongst the stunning splatters of karst and water. We enjoyed watching the staff use the traditional well to clean up around the property, and the garden did not disappoint. Truly magical and filled with bonsai that some local master has been enjoying for many years. The food was excellent. We spoke with some Chinese tourists on the way out who were very disappointed with the local version of beer fish, ah but ours was exquisite, along with the drinks and italian food. It's very rare to find this mix of culture, authenticity, generosity, and good service all wrapped into a package that does nearly guarantee the fulfillment of the motto the girls wear on their shirts, ”be inspired....” I would recommend this to anyone. 谢谢你们!

WOW !! We were absolutely blown away by this amazing Hotel. We couldn't believe that everything looks just as good in real life as you see in the photos. We booked the room which we believe looks the best and has the best view (located on the top floor) and were so happy we chose it. Staying here was such an amazing and unique experience that we can't wait to stay here again for our next trip to China. Here are the highlights of our time here: 1) As mentioned before, our suite has 100% the best views of any Hotel in Yangshuo. It really does have a 270 Degree view and you can also see the sky thanks to partial glass roof. 2) The whole area is very peaceful and quiet, perfect for a getaway from the busy life in the city 3) The Hotel's staff are very friendly and helpful, ready to assist you with any request at any hour. One of the best customer service experiences we ever had! 4) The entire building and our room was very well maintained and clean 5) There is also a lovely swimming pool which we did not have the chance to use but it looks very nice 6) The location is simply perfect for what we wanted. And considering how cheap the taxis are (less than 10 Yuan to get to the city centre) it's well worth staying here. You can also walk for about 20 minutes to get in the city. 7) Although it is not technically a full service hotel, we really appreciated all the services provided, especially the daily housekeeping when they replaced our towels, etc 8) The video projector is a nice touch, and so is the HUGE bathtub which can probably fit 4 adults 9) As Westerners we also really appreciated the electronic / japanese-style toilet with automated flushing and all the functions 10) The air conditioner is surprisingly powerful and can easily keep up with very hot weather even if you open all the curtains Things worth noting: 1) The mattress was a bit firm for us and the pillows a bit too thin for our liking 2) The projector is set up for Chinese users and, unless you cast from your phone or mirror the screen, you won't have much luck 3) The bathtub would have been even better if it were jetted (like a jacuzzi), but this is not really an issue Overall this is certainly one of the best hotels you can choose in Yangshuo and we can 100% recommend staying here.

Longji Terraced Field-Jinkeng Yao Village
Booked a parent-child and double room. The hotel is located in Jinkeng Terraces, with view decks 1.2 on the left and 3 on the right. There are rice fields right outside the door. There is a stream a few steps down from the hotel. It is very parent-child friendly! The hotel is hygienic and clean, and the food in the store is delicious. Auntie Fa is very nice and the boss is very enthusiastic. The luggage is sent directly to the hotel. The car is parked at the foot of the hotel and it takes five minutes to walk to the hotel. There are stone steps on the mountain road and there is a road. It is full of childhood memories and I saw many plants that I saw when I was a child. Worth recommending^^ Picture 1.3 is the balcony view of the room, Picture 2 is the delicious food, Picture 4.5 is the rice field at the door, and Picture 6.7 is the viewing platform on the fourth floor to enjoy the sunrise.

Came here for the third time, deep in the mountains is a stockade like a Swiss town: houses are lined up, layers of flowers are first laid, and Jiaojiao is beautiful. Whether it is the faintness of the sea of clouds surrounding the mountain in the morning or the evening glowing and tender, or the stars at night, it brings a sense of peace and tranquility: two ears do not hear the world, and the edge is in this village; In the morning, you can go up and down the stone road, while enjoying the beautiful scenery around you, you can also go to the mountain tea room to have a cup of good tea; in the afternoon, continue to climb, sit in the pavilion at the top, overlook the whole village, and then shout out the inner poetry and distance to the mountains; At night, make a wish to the stars (the heart fire to the stars, the wish is true). Here, you can completely empty, live a few days of pastoral life, lamenting that the paradise is real.

Below are the advantages and disadvantages of this establishment: Advantages: ⭐️ The staff was delightful, amiable, and supportive. On one occasion, when we couldn't find a taxi to take us back, we waited for a significant amount of time and the owner (presumably) arranged for someone to pick us up. She also provided guidance on nearby options for renting scooters and cars, and even advised us on local attractions. ⭐️ With the location being at the foot of a mountain, the view from the bedroom, balcony, and garden is stunning. It takes approximately 13-14 minutes by car to reach west street. Additionally, taking a short 10/15-minute walk around the area will lead you to a charming café nestled amidst the mountains, where we had a delightful cup of coffee. Disadvantages: 🌟 There is no elevator available. While the building only has around 4/5 floors, it can be inconvenient to climb multiple sets of stairs after a long day or to go back for something during your stay. ⭐️ There was an unpleasant odor emanating from the bathroom, and it was quite strong. Whether it is a natural occurrence or not, it is persistent every time you visit. ⭐️ Encounter with insects: Despite visiting in April during the rainy season, there were small bugs/insects crawling on the floors of both the room and the bedroom. If you have a fear of insects like I do, I would not recommend this place, especially considering it might be worse in the summer. ⭐️ Hygiene: I found the lobby area to be the cleanest compared to the bedroom, which was clean but not up to par with thorough cleanliness. It was rather average. In conclusion, I would recommend this place if you’re not a fussy person, as you will have basic needs met plus good service . I would not recommend it if you're looking for a relaxing stay with options for a Western or international breakfast such as cereals, eggs, or good coffee, extra services, fear of insects etc.

Best 民宿 I’ve ever stayed at! Not only is the room new, clean and tastefully renovated, it’s smart equipped. All lights and curtain will draw open once you slot in the room card. But what will draw me back to this place is the hospitality from the owners and staff!!! They are all super warm and hospitable. Will miss them so much 😍😍 这家民宿体验感太好了!
