At SHPE, we recognize the pivotal role parents play in their children’s college success. The Equipando Padres program fills the critical need for parent programming by incorporating elements vital to our cultura and addressing specific challenges in pursuing an engineering career. By doing so, we position familias to continue being integral contributors to student success! 

About the Program

Equipando Padres offers programs to both parents of students interested in pursuing engineering at the precollege level and families with collegiate level students. 

Join our escuelita! Equipando Padres Academy hosts nationwide virtual workshops monthly. Join all sessions for a chance to win a scholarship for your student or drop by as needed – we look forward to having you! 

Workshops are hosted in English and Spanish by SHPE members, parents, and industry partners.  

Participants receive an Equipando Padres guidebook, swag, and gift card for their participation.

Equipando Padres University is a series of workshops and for parents of first-generation Hispanic engineering students at select partner universities. The program engages parents through topics including financial literacy, an understanding of health and wellness, and awareness of engineering pathways.  

Equipando Padres University workshops are bilingual and delivered virtually. Throughout programming, parents are provided with resources and develop a learning community and build a meaningful understanding of how they can better support their students through their college experience.
