Senior Accountant

Once you’re here your tasks will include:

General Ledger Management

• Maintain the integrity of multiple general ledgers in various currencies by recording and reconciling all financial transactions in accordance with IFRS and local accounting standards.
• Prepare, post, and review journal entries for accuracy and compliance, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

• Perform monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, and accruals.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensuring reconciling items are addressed promptly and documented appropriately.

Financial Close Process

• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, adhering to the corporate close calendar and deadlines.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.

Tax and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including preparation and filing of VAT returns and other statutory reports.
• Collaborate with local CPA firms to address tax filings, audits, and regulatory requirements in Slovenia and other jurisdictions.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of local regulatory and legal compliance related to accounting and finance.

Budgeting and Forecasting Support

• Provide accurate financial data to support the Head of Finance in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Assist in variance analysis between actuals, budgets, and forecasts, providing explanations and insights.

Internal Controls and Process Improvements

• Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard financial data and ensure compliance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations, particularly in areas like journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.

Cash Flow Management

• Assist in monitoring and reconciling daily cash balances to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
• Work closely with the Head of Finance to track and analyze cash flow, highlighting any variances or potential concerns.

Payroll Management

• Ensure the accurate recording of payroll transactions in the general ledger, including salaries, taxes, and benefits.
• Collaborate with the HR team to reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in reviewing payroll calculations to ensure compliance with Slovenian labor laws and tax regulations.

We are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent and Big Four or second tier experience is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in a general ledger or similar accounting role, preferably within an international environment preferably in the technology sector.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Navision or similar ERP. Advanced Excel knowledge.
• Expertise in financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making.
• Results-driven with a focus on execution and achieving milestones.
• Proficiency in Slovenian language and experience working in a Slovenian company is required.
• Good knowledge of English language.
