Junichiro Koizumi (born 8 January 1942) is the former Prime Minister of Japan. He stepped down in 2006.
Early life
[change | change source]Born in Yokosuka, Kanagawa on 8 January, 1942, Koizumi was taught at Yokosuka High School and Keio University, where he studied economics. He went to University College London before returning to Japan in August 1969 when his father died.
Yasukuni Shrine and Junichiro
[change | change source]While he was prime minister of Japan, he made China and South Korea very angry by continuing to visit the Yasukuni Shrine. He was succeeded by Shinzo Abe.
