Reducing the gap between academic research and field practice in public transport is one of our main goals. That’s why we have partnered with the University of Zilina. As our office is located at the heart of the University of Zilina, and a big part of our team studied there, this partnership is very important to us. One of the university projects we were involved in was the “Winter school” organized by InCITIES a ERAdiate+. Last week, we spent a great day together with students and researchers. We talked about digital transformation of cities and explored different opportunities in this field.

Software Development
Helping public transport providers minimize vehicles, transits, and improve driver as well as passenger satisfaction.
About us
Our mission is to develop AI-powered optimization tools for public transport providers all around the world. We are currently working on: - Planning/scheduling optimization tool to minimize vehicles, transits, and improve driver as well as passenger satisfaction. - Custom AI prediction models for arrival times and occupancy rates to minimize delays and overcrowded vehicles. - Demand-responsive transport (DRT) optimization. Within less than one year, we've implemented our software in almost 80% of regions in our home country of Slovakia (+ in 8 regions in the Czech Republic). We are now looking for innovative public transport providers in other countries that would be interested to learn a bit more about what we are working on.

Predicting delays and occupancy rates in public transport (or how to close the gap between academic research and field practice). In 2022, we established a partnership with the University of Zilina to research the potential use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in public transport. One of the outcomes of this partnership is a prediction model for delays and occupancy rates of public transport vehicles. At the moment, two researchers (Lubos Buzna and Milan Straka) and nine students from the university work together with our team to develop the model. We were also happy to add the official smart city platform of Prague (Golemio) to the partnership a couple months ago. The model is integrated in our public transport optimization platform. All a public transport provider needs to do to identify trips which are likely to be overcrowded and/or delayed is to import their data into our platform, set the parameters they want to focus on, and start the optimization. The video below demonstrates this feature using real, publicly available data from Dubai.

The future of public transport We believe that the future of public transport lies in the adoption of open systems, global data formats, and emerging technologies. These innovations will help us achieve greater flexibility in both the planning and management of public transport. Greater flexibility should, in turn, lead to a better allocation of resources, effective integration between different types of public transport (such as trains and buses), and seamless collaboration between fixed-route systems and on-demand services. Over the past month, we've given multiple lectures on this topic. It was great to meet professionals working in public transport in Slovakia and to hear their positive feedback.
