On this international Day of Education, themed ‘AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation’, we would like to encourage all employees to leverage technology to achieve meaningful outcomes, and employers to support them. The articles below talk about the risks of not adopting AI at work, and empowering Africa’s youth using education and technology. https://lnkd.in/dK3mKrCJ https://lnkd.in/duk87mnk

PAYROLL TAX 2025 Payment of Payroll Tax for 2025 is due by 31 January. The Finance Act 2017 amended the rates to NLe1,500 per annum for ECOWAS citizens and NLe5,000 per annum for non-ECOWAS citizens. Payroll Tax should be borne by the employer and not passed to the employee. The Payroll Tax Act 1972 and its amendments provide a list of exempt employers and employees. Remember to always start your names with capital letters. Eg. Karim Jalloh. As a job seeker or business person, using a lower case letter at the beginning of your first or last name gives the impression that you do not pay attention to detail, or may lack the ability to communicate effectively in writing. We have always been told that you only make a first impression once, so don’t give someone the chance to reject you before meeting you.

For Clients The mobile phone, particularly the WhatsApp application has made communication so easy that people sometimes forget to remain professional. Clients sometimes forget that business owners also switch off work. Unless it is urgent, or you have a personal relationship with your service provider, only message or call them during working hours. Entrepreneurs serve you better when allowed to have mental breaks, personal time, and quiet work time. Don’t expect them to be available to you all the time, and certainly don’t make them fear they will lose you if they are not. #SierraLeone #boundaries #smallbusinesses

Over 10,000 people in #SierraLeone are either blind or visually impaired. Only 1.8% of persons with disabilities aged 15 and above are employed, with most being self-employed in agriculture, crafts or the service sector. This means a very limited number of visually impaired individuals are in the workforce. An increase in inclusive educational facilities and workplaces would help towards ensuring equal opportunities for visually impaired individuals in Sierra Leone, thereby improving their wellbeing.
