About us
The Forum for Agriculture, Innovation, and Empowerment for Children and Youth Sierra Leone (FAIECY-SL) is a youth-led organization dedicated to fostering positive change in agriculture and climate change in Sierra Leone. Established on February 13, 2021, FAIECY-SL is focused on transforming local communities through the promotion of climate-smart agriculture and climate education. Our Core Objectives: 1. Climate-Smart Agriculture: Our aim is to disseminate knowledge on climate-smart agriculture techniques that help mitigate the impact of climate change on farming in Sierra Leone. 2. Climate-Smart Education: We collaborate with government institutions, community stakeholders, civil society organizations, children, and young people to raise awareness about the effects of climate change. 3. Environmental Conservation: We participate in projects and initiatives focused on protecting and restoring the environment, fostering a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable ecosystem. Mission: FAIECY-SL strives to promote climate-smart agriculture and education in Sierra Leone, empowering communities to adapt to changing climate conditions, cultivate healthy crops, and maintain a harmonious environment. Vision: We envision a future where climate-smart agricultural practices are widely adopted, climate education is universally accessible, and environmental conservation efforts lead to a cleaner, safer, and sustainable ecosystem for generations to come. As the year comes to an end, we are pleased to stage our first Annual General Meeting (AGM). As an organization, we are reflecting on our works, challenges, reviewing and strengthening our systems for a better output in 2025. We want to appreciate all partners and philanthropists who are donating to our work and helping us achieve our results.

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of our Empowering Sierra Leone project in Bagbwe Chiefdom and Lalehun, Penguia Chiefdom, the southeast region of Sierra Leone. Funded by Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association, this project will enable us to construct a solar energy dryer facility. With this innovative solution, we aim to significantly reduce food and post-harvest losses, while also creating a valuable opportunity for our implementing partner, the George Washington Association of Energy Engineers (GWAEE) – a professional student association at George Washington University in the United States of America – to visit and experience Sierra Leone for the first time.

Attitude and behavioral change are key focuses for us in addressing climate change and waste management. Through our Operation Clean Bo Initiative, we engage children, young adults, the elderly, and entire communities. We emphasize their civic responsibility in maintaining a clean environment. In Sierra Leone, a significant portion of our population grows up with the misconception that only the government is responsible for cleaning the streets and public spaces, and that citizens are at liberty to litter anywhere they feel like. We aim to dispel this myth and empower citizens to take ownership of their surroundings.

We listen, engage, and let them speak to us. We assure them of confidentiality and strive to solve their problems. We apply for grants on their behalf, report on our outcomes, and work together as equal partners to solve the problem. Yes! We are FAIECY-SL, a nonprofit youth led organization that promotes Agro ecology, innovation, and climate education in Sierra Leone.
