Advance Denim Delivers ‘Targeted Stretch’ with Launch of LYCRA FitSense® Technology

The difficulty of finding good-fitting denim is well documented. A survey from marketing research firm One Poll showed almost half (46 percent) of women consider jeans the most challenging garment to buy.

This fit-finding quest hurts brands’ bottom lines, between the cost of returns and potential lost sales if customers leave stores empty-handed. And yet, creating jeans that can truly fit and flatter the broad spectrum of body sizes and shapes has been a struggle for product developers and manufacturers. To overcome these issues and deliver on consumer demand, The LYCRA Company developed FitSense® Denim, a solution that creates jeans with shaping benefits.

China-based Advance Denim partnered with The LYCRA Company and Crystal Apparel earlier this year to introduce LYCRA FitSense® Denim as a new stretch offering. LYCRA FitSense® Denim is the next evolution in stretch technology, allowing designers to customize the level of stretch in targeted areas of the denim garment for enhanced comfort, shaping and support. This technology is designed with a patented LYCRA dual-core yarn structure combined with thermo-responsive fiber, woven into the fabric by Advance Denim.

“LYCRA FitSense® Denim is a revolutionary targeted stretch technology that enables denim designers to create the right fit for the wearer (or consumer), supporting specific body parts: tummy, thigh, bum, leg and waist,” said Mark Ix, director of North American marketing at Advance Denim. “The fiber-to-garment denim solution is discreet and invisible on the fabric and garment and offers endless design opportunities for brands and designers.”

In fact, since its inception, the denim mill has spearheaded sustainable manufacturing methods including BigBox Denim and BioBlue indigo which dye indigo in one big box, saving up to 94 percent of the water needed in traditional dyeing. Performance innovations such as Freecross Bi-Stretch technology stretch denim in both the warp and weft yarns, providing stretch and recovery while maintaining a vintage look. This latest LYCRA FitSense® Denim introduction builds on Advance’s foundation of innovation.
