Animal Prints, Dark Washes Lead Resort 2025 Denim Trends

Designers unveiled a shift toward 2010s styling in their Resort 2025 collections. After seasons of wide-leg jeans and Y2K archetypes, slimmer jeans, dark washes and boho details give denim a fresh look.

Tagwalk reported a 10 percent increase of denim looks in resort collection.

The fashion search engine also reported a 35 percent increase in animal prints, which made a strong and colorful return in denim. Roberto Cavalli showed jeans with oversized tiger prints. Brandon Maxwell presented jeans with a snake print top block. PH5 showed crocodile print coordinates, enhanced with pops of turquoise, pink and velvety textures. Diesel gave its flouncy asymmetrical cheetah print skirt a pop of blue, green and red.

Designers also styled animal print pieces like jackets and tops with denim, including Zimmermann, Brandon Maxwell and Tory Burch. The latter showed a jacquard logo skirt with contrasting animal print accessories for a maximalist boho look.

The bohemian vibe was echoed in Ulla Johnson’s chantilly lace tops styled with blue jeans and prairie denim top adorned with large ruffles. Zimmermann also paired billowing lace tops with denim trousers.

Designers also focused on adjacent accessories like belts. Brandon Maxwell showed snake print belts and options with large heart-shaped buckles. Extra-long belts cinched Zimmermann’s flowy bottoms. Other jeans from the brand were tighter, including a pair of high-rise skinny jeans with a stacked hem.

Diesel leaned into its jegging background with skin-tight leggings with a denim look. Diesel creative director Glenn Martens said the collection was about blurring lines between underwear and ready-to-wear, denim and trompe l’oeil.

Givenchy, Helmut Lang, Kallmeyer and Tanya Taylor also reigned in the wide-leg trend with styles that had more tailoring.

Kallmeyer, Zimmermann and Tanya Taylor showed double denim looks that were sharper and dressier compared to some of the cowboy styling from 2024 collections. Zimmermann showed how the Western theme cleans up with its dark wash drop-waist dress.

There’s still a taste for deconstruction, however. Versace and Coach experimented with frayed edges, undone hems and pieced constructions. Stella McCartney also featured undone hem, as well as cutouts emphasized by chain accents. MM6 ripped knees and Dsquared2 ripped, repaired and splashed denim with color and bleach.
