Denim at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival

The fashion at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival was as blue as the French Riviera. Celebrities stepped out for photo calls and press conferences dressed in designer jeans and denim coordinates during the 11-day international film festival.

Actress Sienna Miller attended the photo call for “Horizon: An American Saga” wearing Schiaparelli’s cowboy jeans—a barrel silhouette that is gaining momentum in women’s wear. The raw Japanese denim jeans nod to creative director Daniel Roseberry’s Texan roots with contrasting stitching and utilitarian details.

Cate Blanchett stepped out in double denim for the Kering Women in Motion talk during the festival. The Oscar-winning actress wore matching pieces from Claire Wright Keller’s collaboration with Uniqlo.

Double denim was a popular look for several celebrities. Actress Mia Tharia wore denim trousers and a matching one-shoulder denim top. Actress Tess Barthélemy leaned into the ladylike trend with a short-sleeved jean jacket and miniskirt. Likewise, model Nieves Alvarez wore a denim blouse with puff sleeves and a bow with sleek wide-leg denim trousers.

Director Christophe Honoré mixed washes by pairing a dark wash chore jacket by Prada with light wash jeans.

French singer and model Yseult, who made headlines for wearing a look inspired by Dior’s “New Look” to the premier of “Megalopolis,” also made a fashion statement in double denim. Yseult stepped out in a baggy denim jacket and wide-leg jeans in a dirty Y2K wash.

Y2K denim was also prevalent. Model Cindy Bruna paired a cropped top with a denim maxi skirt, accented with an all-over laser swirl print. Actress Leïla Bekhti chose a bleached denim set and heart-shaped accessories. Nichapat Suphap, the founder of Venture Management, was seen wearing a zip-up corset top and denim fishtail maxi skirt. Suphap accessorized the look with a denim monogrammed Louis Vuitton bag and wide belt.
