NASA, Firefly and SpaceX will hold a “lunar delivery readiness” telecon on January 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm ET to discuss the upcoming launch of Firefly’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 to the Moon as part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative. The launch is scheduled for January 15 at 1:11 am ET on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 together with another lunar lander, ispace’s Hakuto-R Mission 2 with the Resilience lander and Tenacious rover. The two landers are completely separate except that they are sharing the same rocket. ispace is a Japanese lunar lander company.
The January 14 telecon participants are:
- Nicky Fox, Associate Administrator, NASA Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters
- Jason Kim, CEO, Firefly Aerospace
- Julianna Scheiman, Director, NASA Science Missions, SpaceX
- Mark Burger, launch weather officer, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s 45th Weather Squadron
NASA and SpaceX will livestream the launch beginning at 12:30 am ET on January 15.
