SNOWBREAK

How casual can I play this without pulling for meta and pulling for certain characters
I've played a few gachas so I know what i'm getting into and I'm a light spender but I'm curious to know because some of the character designs in this game are definitely interesting and I'd want to pull on characters regardless of meta, if I can play with and pull for characters that appeal to me visually or if I should be pulling meta?

From what I've seen of this game I like Tess but I've heard she isn't a strong character (plus her banner isn't up yet and probably won't be around for a while), and I like Siris-Ksana and that new outfit of hers despite being aware I'm like a couple weeks late to her banner. Usually on gachas I'll try and pull for a single copy of a character and ignore the weapon / equipment banners since I don't want to blow a lot of money into a game just for power so that's my plan for this game as well, but since I'm already playing some other gachas as well (Mainly star rail atm which is my main game), I don't want to go crazy with the spending.

So yeah, can I just play this the way I feel like and pull for the characters I want or would I be unable to clear certain content without pulling for the meta / strong characters?

well it is nice their is a guarantee you will get whatever your after within a certain number of pulls often under 100 individual/10 10 pulls though 100% if do a 100 pull also unless your grabbing every gatcha it seems do able to without needing to spend much i typically just use the bitgold for the sub which gives a nice bonus to the daily income of digicash and its fairly cheap beyond that its mainly if their is a specific outfit im really interested in that i might spend a bit more of the bitgold maaaybe if im really wanting to make the full use of a character i might get their specific weapon but thats only if i've got a fairly large stockpile of means to get gatcha draws

The game is turbocasual so you'll be fine most of the time, the only thing where top meta matters is if you want to rank in the top 1% of the weekly boss challenge rankings, and that's whale territory anyway. That said you should at least look up a character's role first, for instance in Tess' case since you mentioned her, it's not that she's weak but she's supposed to be a support that stays off field for 99% of the time. You can make supports shoot and kill stuff too if you try hard enough, but it won't be as smooth as an actual damage dealer.

Thanks for the responses.

Also I got an Advanced Manifestion Invitation letter via my mail and can pick between 9 character 60x extracts, including Tess. Does that mean I can just outright get any of those characters even if their banner isn't up or are they like an upgrade thing and not the character outright?
Nain 22 Nov, 2024 @ 2:40pm
yes, the advanced manifestation invitation gives you the 60 extracts that you then can "unlock" as the full char in your operatives menu. make sure to not accidently select the weaponsbox if you want the chars.

Good to know. I already selected the character one at least. Surprised they didn't just give you both in-case someone actually did do that slip up you mentioned?

Means I can just outright grab magician girl even if she isn't the best pick out of the lot, but I like her design the most out of the other picks and I doubt she's gonna be rerun anytime soon? Siris-Ksana isn't selectable so I'd need to wait a good few months for her to rerun which might be a long while since she appeared earlier this month iirc?
Question 22 Nov, 2024 @ 5:01pm
OP i just want to warn you that when people tell you the game isnt meta, is very easy, etc, they are not talking from the new player perspective. When i started out, the gap between having strong meta characters and one that is obsolete is like night and day.

Its really important for you to get two teams that can clear jotun tunnel and neural sim ASAP for digicash and its actually very hard to clear neural sim difficulty 4 as a new player and having strong meta characters will help a lot with that. Also there are things like event boss fights that are difficult for new players because you wont have access to level 80 operatives.

To give you some numbers, a non-meta team might take 3-4 minutes (or longer) to beat a boss and you have to be careful not to die. People with OP meta teams can beat the same boss in 30 seconds or less with zero effort and these are the same players saying "the game is really easy". See the difference?

I mean fair. I'm not super crazy about being uber busted in games like this, which is why I usually never pull on the weapon / equipment banners or pull for duplicates even if that does put me at a disadvantage. Would rather be able to grab the characters I want than throw a ton of money at the game to dominate every content with ease.

You dont have to buy bitgold but the $5 monthly pass is pretty good value. You get 3k digicash over one month along with 30 extra stamina each day.

That's what I usually do in gachas, buy the monthly pass instead of outright buying the paid currency bundles (Unless I really feel like it) and sometimes the battlepass if I want extra stuff from simply playing the game.

Game is pretty easy to get characters. Im a lite spender as well and have all characters by playing since launch.

The game makes a good chunk of it's money off skins which won't happen if you don't have the characters, so they make it easy if you play somewhat consistently.

This is true, i have both of my friends starting out and it was rough. Resources and currency are very limited to them so absolutely research if u you want to invest someone, especially "logistic" related stuff.
You absolutely need a healer starting out to have a breathing room in Jotun and Neural ( clearing both Neural Difficulty 4 to get full weekly gem no need to go for Difficulty 5).

Makes me wish I started playing this way sooner. Kinda missed out on over a year of content just because I didn't want to play too many gachas at the time but now I decided to play it today and it's pretty good fun and makes me regret not picking it up sooner. Just hoping some interesting banners pop around and characters I want get reruns.

Do wish I had at least started last month so I could've grabbed Siris-Ksana but I probably have to wait like for like 6+ months for her rerun or more depending on how reruns are scheduled?

Reruns are often in this game so no worries. There is a system that lets you farm "dupe shards" and yes it included limited characters though only x4 (x2 per char) per day, so your fav char will be max eventually.

good news is, even as f2p, i always got enough to save to get the new character each time they released, and still save some leftover that i eventually can pull for their weapon once a while, if you paid for the monthly pass, you'll get more than enough for things that you want

Also took notice of the whole outfit removal thing at the end of August this year and now I regret not picking this game up way sooner cus I wanted a lot of those outfits and was basing some of my pulls around them but they're never coming back so I'm debating what I should do on that front, if the current banner characters are worthwhile or if I should see what's in-store afterwards?

Honestly kinda depressing that happened. Just hoping the new skins are better and I'm tempted to just grab that Siris-Ksana skin despite not owning the character (and probably won't be for at least half a year?) incase a similar incident happens?

The dupe shard farming is good, but only if you actually have the character unlocked from what I've seen, which ofc makes sense otherwise that kinda beats the point of the gacha.

Most likely not pulling the weapons on my end since I don't think my gacha luck is good enough to do consistent pulls on both characters and weapons. I also noticed the current banners have two different gachas each, one which is 50/50 and has 80 pity and one that has 100 pity but the limited character / weapon drops 100%, is that how the banners are like all the time or is that guarenteed character banner like a one off thing?
