Nowhere as bad as Cybershrek 2077, the "everything is a motorcycle" drive simulator.
As of this here it is insanelly bad. It turns me off so damn bad every single time
I do feel shame on how they continue splitting the already super low playerbase with infinite brawls and game modes. I've put some money into oblivion lol. In these forums, I've only seen Iron Knights and a few more, this is dead.
That is why we go to the next point.
Oh boy... You are so damn wrong but a bit right.
Yes by default all physics setting for this game are set to be so damn simple to handle by 5 yo kid. BUT!
Even on default it is INSANELLY better than this pathetic Crossout physics for wheeled vehicles!
I must point out that by making such comparicon that you made I see that your knowledge about vehicle physics in games practically none. So let me explain why you are ULTRA wrong.
GTA 5 have so damn complex physics params for vehicle handling that would make your brain melt. But for someone like me it is really amazing as I not only went into all the values for vehicle physics but I also moded them for my taste. They are so complex that it is practically SIMCADE which means that it have lots of parameters to make car handling so convincing that it would be gor casual player not distinguishable between GTA 5 physics and SIM racing game.
So it seems that you never tried to download proper mod that makes car handling "realistic" Try playing GTA5 with RealisticDrivingV_2.5 mod!
I did and then went into moding this further as many vehicles were not touched by mod creator for some reason. For example Trucks.
I could talk about it for so much long but the point is that this comparison which you made showed me that you practically know nothing about in deepth vehicle handling in games so it is waste of time to try and explain to you any much more.
Well I could not get deep into this game and its modes etc. so here I have nothing much to say. As I mentioned vehicle handling is kicking my guts every time I try to play this. And I bought this game some years back. Now it is for free :/
So basically I installed this game just days back after VERY long time not touching this game. And what I do is just building some vehicles and just test them in training mode and start some battle mainly with AI as it seem that for few first battles we can only play against AI. But years back I went little deeper and ended up playing against players but now after some 2 years there is no sign of my older progress. I remember having some more parts etc and there was not yet flying vehicles added or mechs etc. Just wheeled vehicles. That is why in terms of long play I cannot say much.
And it seem it will not change as I already mentioned that I am pushed away from this game because of insanelly BS arcadey vehicle handling.
Just one more example. If I made 4 wheeler and it is only RWD and then I destroy my rear wheels and one wheel on front I am still able to move! Wheel that have no drive is making my whole vehicle to move anyway and it does it by very arcadey mechanics as I cannot call it physics based at all. If vehicle can be immobilised by having destroyed 4 out of 4 wheels then why not immobilize it 2 wheels earlier?! I mean by destroying wheels with drive ablility?! This makes no sense!
As for mentioning PS1 games I will give an example of one game that I really liked. Rollcage! It had cool simple physics of wheel traction! And crossroads is so below level of Rollcage from PS1 era! And that says A LOT!
Crossroads could be cool game if not for this insanelly pathetic vehicle physics.
There used to be a distinction for wheels ability to better grip and accelerate on different surfaces, so Racing wheels were best on the asphalt, Large wheels were great on threading shallow water, and Lunar wheels were best on ice and sand. Sadly, hobbits found this system confusing, so it was eventually doscontinued.
the game is a fantasy arcade vehicle shooter and who have
false expectations about it at all.
XO is in no way a simulator of anything and thats the strongest
feature of the game. If any people like to play driving sims, they
are totally wrong here and should move along their way to find
other games to play.
The only way we're losing a game is mileage. There's always new stuff over the horizon, but there's only so much time most people will spend on a game like Crossout. I still think its one of the best games in terms of fast-paced action and optimization.
Other than that, OP should learn to better express his opinion, because there's arbitrary statements and comparisons to just how terrible driving model in the game is, but no specific example of something being bad in a particular way.
There's no mass/weight physics. Your vehicle gets lifted 1mm off the ground, and now it behaves like it's as light as a feather, while you get carried away by another vehicle that's 1/10th your weight with a low power cab.
There's no friction. IF you lose your wheels, sometimes just 1 wheel, your vehicle slides like an air hockey puck.
There's no momentum, but there's some weird flywheel effect. If you hit a bump and it slows you down, you immediately get back up to top speed. If you use the brake to slow down to the same speed, you now have to wait for the vehicle to accelerate.
The engine revving audio effects are not in sync with the vehicle's speed or acceleration. I hit my max speed of 108, but my vehicle's engine audio is still revving and switching between gears. There's times when the audio gets stuck in high gear, usually when driving up a slight incline, or when turning. It's still not in sync with the speed.
Collision damage is based on the part and not the actual impact. A spikey bumper touching my wheel shouldn't break the wheel off, and my train plow shouldn't tear through armor from a 5 km/h impact.
