Welcome to Kowloon is a cool concept. The setting is neat and it's the type of thing that I would thoroughly enjoy in a game. The issue is that the game just isn't well made. When you're walking it just feels off. At times when you get close to a wall it's as if you're scaling the wall instead of walking along the wall. Please do yourself a favor and do not play this with a controller. Using the analog stick to look around is painfully slow and there is pretty much no way that you can complete the one portion of the game in which you can die. The game is littered with jump scares and contains very little story to help explain why any of this is happening. It really feels more like an unfinished game. It's not long at all and I was thankful for that. I just don't think that I could have dealt with much more. There are some Silent Hill elements such as a door being locked until you visit a specific room, after which the previously locked door will be opened. Welcome to Kowloon tries hard and does some things well, but due to FPS problems, camera issues, and a nonsensical story I just can't really recommend it. It's a 2/5 for me.

Among The Sleep is a kickstarter game that is not going to be for everyone. It's hardly a walking sim and there are ways to "die." The story is going to hit home for some folks and the subject matter might be tough if it's something that you can relate to. I rarely get emotional during a game, but the ending hit me very hard as it's something that I closely relate to. It's probably the first time a game ending evoked this emotion from me and caused me to cry. In my opinion, Among The Sleep is a necessary game and is less of a horror game and more of an analysis on broken homes, addiction, and childhood trauma. Among The Sleep has tugged at my heart strings and while it is a very short game, it's an experience that I think I needed to have. I would rate it an overall 4.5/5 and I would strongly recommend this game.

Layers of Fear is a good psychological horror game. It has a good atmosphere, but after that you need to understand it is more or less just a straight up walking simulator with jump scares. If that is not what you're looking for then you will be very disappointed. There are a few ways to "die" but only in a few spots. There are a LOT of collectibles that you will need to locate for achievements and to get 100% you will have to purchase the DLC. Layers of Fear will be for fans of psychological horror and item hunting. It's a 3/5 for me.

Mouthwashing is a great game with a surrealist horror story. Mouthwashing is very short and you'll likely finish it in about two hours. If Mouthwashing had been released on the the Playstation around 1998 it would be regarded as one of the greatest horror games of all time and would likely have spawned a few sequels. What you're going to get is a game that will develop a cult following and be highly regarded for a long time. Mouthwashing is surrealist so it's not going to be for everyone. If you're the type of person that enjoys a David Lynch movie then Mouthwashing will be perfect for you. I can give it a strong recommendation and a total score of a 4/5 for it's engaging story, easy to pick up gameplay, and the uniqueness of the game.

Prison Alone is one of those games that is really a middle of the road title for me. It's not bad for the price. I love the atmosphere. The atmosphere of the game is probably a 4/5 for me. The sound is okay, not bad, but certainly not great. Prison Alone is really a walking sim and walking is definitely what you'll do. I wish there was a run button, especially on a later playthrough to try and 100% the game. Prison Alone allows for a chapter select after you complete each chapter so you should be able to go back and search for collectibles fairly easy. Both endings are very underwhelming for me. I felt more disappointed rather than satisfied at the conclusion. Overall, Prison Alone isn't bad, but it is not going to impress you. I give Prison alone a reluctant 3/5.

It's not a bad addition if for Longmont Potion Castle alone. There aren't any achievements to be had but the additional bestiary is nice and it's fun to continue with the game once you've completed the base game. I can recommend the DLC.

I had a lot of fun with Serial Cleaner. Serial Cleaner is going to be for fans of games like Hotline Miami. There isn't any combat in it. Serial Cleaner focuses on stealth. The A.I. is predictable and behaves the same way each time, however with each death the level will reset and change up body and evidence locations. Serial Cleaner has an ascending difficulty with each level and introduces new mechanics as the game goes on. While it can be frustrating at times, Serial Cleaner is not overly hard. There has been mention of some glitched achievements, specifically the Stickler achievement, but I did not have any issues. Some levels felt glitched because I was stuck at 99% blood, but based on the placement of the blood pool, sometimes it blends in well with the environment and you are just missing a pixel. I can recommend Serial Cleaner to fans of Hotline Miami or other top down stealth games if you're looking for a quick play through that isn't overly challenging, and while tedious at times, is still fun. I give Serial Cleaner a 3.5/5.

Chasing Static is a good horror game for those seeking a casual experience. I picked it up in anticipation of Hollow Body and I haven't been disappointed. There isn't any real combat and no way to "die" other than a secret ending. There are several ending outcomes leaving you with some replay value for an otherwise short game. If you know exactly what you're doing you can finish Chasing Static in around an hour or less. Chasing Static has some collectible related achievements and it can provide some fun for fans of horror games, walking sims, and achievement hunting. It's short but fun and worth picking up. I'd give Chasing Static a 3/5.

Kona is a solid detective game with a very small open world to explore. Kona's atmosphere is somewhere between playing Red Dead Redemption and watching Fargo. I didn't encounter any game breaking glitches or issues with Kona. I had a good time exploring and seeking out the side quests on a second playthrough. I would offer a recommendation that when doing side quests, do NOT wait until it gets dark. You'll have a lot simpler time doing it all during the day. Kona doesn't offer a ton of replay value outside of trying to 100% the game since it will likely take you two playthroughs to accomplish that (it can be done in one). Kona offers little in the way of combat. Your primary enemy is the cold with the occasional wolf pack causing you some trouble. Overall, Kona is a good experience and if you're a fan of detective, open world, and short stories then Kona is going to be for you. I'd give Kona a 4/5.

Gris is a great game for fans of casual and art games. Gris is focused on the grief cycle and has beautiful artwork. Gris will be less desirable for someone looking for a challenge. The puzzles are not too difficult. If you're looking for a casual game and a few achievements along with a discussion on grief then Gris is for you. I give Gris a 3.5/5.
