Syrian Arab Red Crescent

Empowered by financial literacy, self-belief, and the support of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Hasna successfully launched her own project and achieved independence. Her message is clear: "Keep going, persevere, and work hard – life rewards dedication." The Syrian Arab Red Crescent received the Minister of Health, Dr. Maher Al-Sharaa, and his accompanying delegation on the evening of Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at its headquarters. They were welcomed by Dr. Muhammad Hazem Baqla, President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, and Ms. Raya Ramadan, Secretary-General. The meeting began with a review of the longstanding cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, which has spanned decades. In his welcoming speech, Dr. Hazem Baqla emphasized that the Syrian Arab Red Crescent's humanitarian response is rooted in its supportive and complementary role to government institutions. The Minister highlighted that the sensitive phase Syria is currently experiencing necessitates the development and implementation of clear mechanisms for cooperation and partnership in planning and service provision. These efforts aim to address the growing needs, particularly in the health sector. He added, “The utmost priority today is to coordinate with all parties to prevent duplication of work and ensure efficiency in service delivery.”

Najwa (61) finds comfort and financial stability in caring for her chickens. Two years after receiving a poultry grant from the #SyrianArabRedCrescent in #Sweida, which included 25 laying hens, feed, supplies, and fencing, she and her daughter are thriving. Najwa's dedication has increased her flock, providing a sustainable income. Her family is one of 300 to benefit from this grant in the villages of Shaqa, Barak, Radhima al-Sharqiya, al-Kaseeb, and Tarba, with support from International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent held a three-day training workshop for 15 doctors and nurses in #Damascus, to enhance their expertise in reproductive health, safe motherhood, and family planning. This initiative aims to reduce maternal and newborn mortality rates, with the support of Danish Red Cross through the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid #ECHO.

Ramadan, particularly families of cancer patients, kidney failure patients, people with disabilities, female breadwinners, and returnees. This initiative is supported by the KSrelief with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. The project targets 59,000 families across 11 governorates, with distribution carried out gradually. The selection of families and distribution of baskets is conducted in cooperation with the local community. Each food basket includes 10 kg of flour, 1.5 liters of vegetable oil, 5 kg of rice, 800 grams of vermicelli, 3 kg of bulgur, 300 grams of tea, 2 kg of lentils, and 1 kg of salt, providing essential nutritional support to those in need.
