As we wrap up our projects for 2024 and look forward to a well-deserved festive break, I thought I would give a recap of our 2024 GC Powerlist editions around the world and celebrate the great work that the members of our team have done to highlight and connect the globe’s very best corporate counsel. In 2024, we launched 42 GC Powerlist editions: thirteen in Latin America, twelve in Europe, nine in Asia-Pacific, four in the United States, three in Africa and one in the Middle East. We launched a new Powerlist in Africa this year (East Africa) and returned to China for the first time since the pandemic with our 2024 edition in Beijing earlier this month, a major milestone that opens a whole host of possibilities for the future. There were over 4000 in-house lawyers profiled in 2024, from Group GCs at the headquarters of vast multinational companies, to sole counsel working long hours at game-changing startups, to rising stars who have achieved beyond expectations at an early stage in their careers. We also recognised more than 300 high-performance in-house legal departments in our teams editions, emphasising the collaboration that goes into supporting their businesses. More than half of these took time out of their busy schedules to provide an interview with our team, all available on the Legal 500 website. Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts with me or another member of the team. Congratulations to all those lucky enough to have made it on to one of our lists this year, and we look forward to seeing you again in 2025 – we have big plans, so watch this space!
