✍️🇮🇩 Sign our petition to #BanConversionTherapyNow in Indonesia now! In our fifth episode, Arisdo Gonzalez, an LGBTIQ youth activist from Pelangi Nusantara, talks about his experience of conversion therapy as a person of faith: “I love to say that conversion therapy doesn’t work for the LGBTIQ community. We don't need to be changed because from what I learned…God loves us so much. God shows that God loves everyone. You don't need to be changed. You were born to be gay and just proud to be gay. You don't need to be heterosexual or cisgender. And for the parents or for the churches who still do conversion therapy, please stop that. It's really bad for us. It doesn't work for us.” Listen to their full story in the video below, and stay tuned for more stories of conversion therapy in Asia. 👉🏽 Ready to take action? Leave your signature here: https://lnkd.in/eWg5GTiR This is a joint campaign with All Out, GAYa NUSANTARA Foundation, Yayasan Pesona Bumi Pasundan, Pelangi Nusantara and Arus Pelangi.

🎉🏳️🌈 A Night of Queer Joy and Community On 2 December 2024, Young Pride Club and ILGA Asia hosted the Queer and Feminist Solidarity Night as part of the AWID Forum 2024 where different LGBTIQ individuals and allies came together to strengthen connections and celebrate queer joy and community. Swipe to see more photos! The night was also a moment to reflect on the critical role Thai civil society organizations (CSOs) play in advancing LGBTIQ rights and advocating for marriage equality. Khun Chawinroj Terapachalaphon, a Thai lawyer specializing in LGBTIQ legal issues, highlighted the power of collective action in his remarks. Drawing from his thesis on amending Thailand’s Commercial Code to recognize marriage as a union between "a person and a person," he shared how presenting this work at the 6th ILGA Asia Conference in Taiwan in 2016 solidified his determination. Chawinroj’s ongoing efforts, including actionable steps for reform, reflect the need for sustained collaboration between CSOs, legal advocates, and international networks. Together, we can ensure that legal recognition reflects the diverse realities of LGBTIQ lives in Thailand and across Asia, making the vision of equality a shared and achievable goal. 👩💻 Want to know how else you can be a part of the network? Along with @cocnld and @panafricailga, our alliance partners in the Power of Pride program, we explored and discussed how international funding can unite — not divide — LGBTIQ+ movements during the ILGA World Conference’s Strengthening National LGBTIQ Movements Session 💪🏼🌈 Through participatory grant-making, we’re seeing a shift towards accountability to each other, fostering a sense of unity that leads to impactful change. #ilga2024
