🌳 Restoring Khao Yaida's Ecosystem for a Sustainable Future 🌳 Explore SCGC's "Soil, Water, Forest" Series | Episode 2 SCGC's commitment to sustainable development shines in our "Soil, Water, Forest" project 🌱, aimed at reviving the Khao Yaida ecosystem through flood mitigation, reforestation, and community empowerment since 2007. Our approach uses natural ecological principles: soil, water, and forest interconnections drive this transformation. Highlights include: 🌊 Check Dams: Built to slow runoff, prevent flash floods, and sustain water availability during dry seasons, inspired by the Huai Hong Khrai Royal Development Study Center. 🌱 Forest Regeneration: From reducing erosion to promoting tree growth, we've implemented check dams and contour ditches to help nature heal itself. Early results are promising! Increased water levels now support local wells and improve forest health. Using the NRCS Runoff Curve Number Model and NDVI satellite imaging, we’ve seen forest density rise by over 6% in just a few years 🌍. This work continues with the support of Community-Based Research (CBR), empowering locals to become ecosystem stewards.
