    Most companies that work with freelancers from Upwork and Fiverr end up having a bad experience and giving up. Why? Having worked with ~200 freelancers from these platforms in the past 4 years we've boiled it down to: Problem 1 - Varying quality of talent (sometimes incompetent) Problem 2 - Unclear instructions leads to work that misses the mark Problem 3- Lack of transparency (when will it be done? what has been done so far?) We basically solve for these 3 things with the Taskbeasts model. How? Problem 1: Most of the freelancers we use we have used in the past and so they are vetted.     What is the Beast Method? It is the Clickup-based method that we use to manage work for our clients. It makes it very easy for clients to: - see the status on all tasks they have requested - see the updates from the latest work done by the taskbeasts working on them - see the eta of when they will be done The rules to this method are: - everything is captured as a task - any work done is captured as an update to a task This transparency & discipline is part of what makes Taskbeasts feel as reliable as full-time employees.     Do founders need employees? At Taskbeasts we challenge founders to ask themselves this question. Do they really need employees and why? Here are some common answers: 1 - They believe employees will be more committed 2 - They believe employees are better than freelancers 3 - They believe employees are better for the culture than freelancers But our experience having worked with contractors for about 4 years is that this is not really accurate at all. Commitment & quality of a person has almost nothing to do with whether a person is an employee or a freelancer. You will find plenty of employees that are not very committed and are not very good. And the number of high quality folks that have chosen freelancing as their path has rocketed up in the last several years. Particularly after the high number of layoffs the past several years.. many folks have decided to just freelance and not go back to full-time employment. And in terms of culture... freelancers are often faster to integrate into team cultures because they have had much more practice at it. And in a way it is a skill that gets better with practice.
