Two weeks ago, I participated in the 7th Civil Aviation South East Asia Summit 2024 in Bangkok, which brought together Civil Aviation Authorities, airlines, airports, MROs, and other stakeholders from the aviation industry. During the event, I shared Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel Association (ASAFA)'s regional approach to promoting #SustainableAviationFuels (#SAF) in Asia-Pacific and engaged in discussions with industry peers. ASAFA connects stakeholders across the SAF value chain, including producers, airlines, airport operators, technology providers, aircraft and engine manufacturers, oil and gas companies, feedstock suppliers, financiers, and policymakers. The association focuses on fostering collaboration to develop the infrastructure and demand needed to advance SAF adoption in Asia-Pacific. This includes advocating for supportive policies, facilitating investment networks, and sharing knowledge to scale SAF in ways that benefit both the economy and the environment. The Chairman of INACA, Denon Prawiraatmadja, was a speaker at the 7th Civil Aviation South East Asia Summit 2024 in Bangkok, delivering a presentation titled: Transforming Connectivity and Growth in Indonesia's Aviation Sector. This growth in the aviation sector would not only facilitate increased connectivity within Indonesia and internationally but also drive broader economic benefits, such as job creation, infrastructure development, and enhanced trade and tourism. A strong aviation sector could become a key enabler of Indonesia’s economic development, especially in light of its archipelagic nature, where air travel is vital for both domestic mobility and international commerce. To achieve this, INACA’s strategy might involve: 1. Infrastructure Development: Upgrading airports and air traffic management systems to improve efficiency and capacity. 2. Regulatory Support: Streamlining policies to ensure a conducive business environment, enhancing safety standards, and fostering fair competition within the airline industry. 3. Sustainability Initiatives: Encouraging environmentally responsible practices within the aviation sector to meet both domestic and international sustainability goals. 4. Human Capital Development: Strengthening training and education programs for aviation professionals to ensure a skilled workforce. 5. Public-Private Partnerships: Encouraging investment and cooperation between the government and private companies to expand infrastructure and services, making the aviation sector more competitive. By focusing on these areas, INACA can support Indonesia achieve its 8% economic growth target and establish the country as a leading aviation hub in Southeast Asia. #INACA #CASEA2024
