I chose this hotel based on the many positive reviews. I was traveling with my Egyptian-born fiancé, who now lives in Europe (as do I). Out of respect for local customs, we booked separate rooms (mine 6141, his 3058). The hotel was clean, the service in the restaurants was very good, and the cleaning staff created a welcoming atmosphere. However, I found the food and alcoholic drinks to be low in quality. Most of the dishes were tasteless, and the meat was often dry. The kofta in the "Egyptian" restaurant lacked all the flavors one would expect. If you're looking for authentic Egyptian cuisine, I recommend skipping that restaurant and heading to the beach restaurant instead. One highlight was the exceptional service and food from Chef Ahmed Nasir at the beach restaurant. After discussing my experience with him, he prepared dishes that truly showcased the rich flavours of Egyptian cuisine. This was the culinary highlight of my stay. Unfortunately, the positives were overshadowed by some troubling experiences. Despite the hotel having plenty of vacancies, my fiancé and I were placed on opposite sides of the complex. This arrangement made our holiday unnecessarily complicated, and I fail to understand why such a decision was made. The most concerning issue, however, was the unequal treatment my fiancé received. Unlike my room, his lacked basic amenities such as a minibar, complimentary toiletries, and even slippers. When we inquired about this, we were told that these amenities are not provided to Egyptian guests—even though he had paid the same amount for his room as I had for mine. Additionally, his shower had poor water pressure, and no action was taken to resolve this issue until he insisted on being moved to another room. Only then were we placed in the same building. As a guest seeking a peaceful and enjoyable holiday, I was left with a heavy heart witnessing this apparent discrimination. Such treatment should have no place in the hospitality industry. If this reflects the values of Jaz Hotels, I will not be staying with them again, and I will share my experience to ensure others are aware.
